Hey guys,

I know there is an intro thread somewhere but I figure i'm only gonna be lurking around the Stagea sub forum so i'll say hello here.

I'm Matt, 21 years old, from Melbourne.

I'm a resource manager for a pay tv company.

So ya'll remember that too good to be true 99 s2 stag from J-spec? Well yeah, I brought that. I needed a more a subtle car to get me through my golden point year and with just starting my own production company I need to space!

My automotive tour started with my first 180, which very shortly after became strawberried...

Then that car has an accident unfortunatly and I moved on.....

To another black s13 180sx...

It started off like this

Then went like this

Then the kit got finished off and it wound up like this

I've just recently sold the angel eye 180 because the Stag should be touching down in qld this friday!

Future plans for it are just a manual conversion, fmic from my freinds at GKtech, full exhaust, strut braces and EBC.

Don't want huge power again, my first 180 had around 180rwkw and the 2nd when I had the computer in it pused 225rwkw.

Once my year on the golden point is over I plan on getting an e36 m3.

I recognise afew user names around here from Nissansilvia.com like AlexCim and FlySly.

Looking forward to getting to know you guys over the coming year of proud Stagea ownership!!

I was a little hesitant in the beginning to stick my hand up in the beginning when the thread came up about the car, after I had already brought it, what with all the sceptisim regarding but we had the full mechanical inspection done and thats all up to par and the overall condition is pretty amazing.

I'll definetly let you know if this fairy tale turns out to be a nightmare.

Looks magic Matt and welcome!

Pretty safe around here, even the sceptics around here are happy to be corrected so let us know how it plays out.

Enjoy!

Cheers

Luke

P.S. stupid Subaru video for those that need a little time wasting

can't believe it didn't go bang!

Edit: you have to watch it all there is a little bit of gold at the end ha ha...

Awesome stagea!!

and I must say having owned 2 silvias before, I reckon your other cars looked pretty good too!! - love the "angel-eyes" - was never a fan of the popup lights but each to their own.

But I'm sure you'll agree that the stagea will suit you much better now - and probably more comfortable to drive (just guessing - it really depends on your suspension setup in the 180's).

Just so you know, with fmic, full exhaust and ebc you should clear 150awkw I'd say (someone else on here can probably give a more accurate figure) which puts your weight/power ratio lower than a stock 180sx/silvia (pre-1994 for 180sx - they went to 185kw sometime after that). So it really isn't hard to have a wagon thats still got plenty of grunt.

The stagea is the PERFECT combination of looks/style, performance (+potential), features and practicality. I'm sure everyone on this forum would agree with me there.

yeah, I've had pelvis shattering coilovers in both my 180s so i'm looking forward to a bit of a softer ride.

Thanks for that info pixel, just what I needed to hear!

Haha.. well I put lowered king springs in my last silvia (sold it in march to buy the stagea) and left the standard shocks on...

very bad idea. It was ok at first but eventually it just became very uncomfortable. I felt bumps that I couldn't even see...lol!

Going from that to the stagea (completely stock) - I thought I was driving a hovercraft it was so smooth

    • Nope.    Grab a varex and turn it down as you get close to home, win win?
    • So, I've had my V36 for about a month now and have already copped an "excessive exhaust noise" notification from QLD TMR, reported by someone in my local area. It's a twin as per the original, and can have a bit of a throaty note to it when idling cold 😄 and if I do get up it a bit, it can be noisy, but it did pass a roadworthy inspection before sale, so.... ... but in the interest of being a good neighbour, I do want to quieten it down a bit. Is anyone here running a quiet aftermarket cat-back on their V36 or 370Z? And the big, bold question: does an aftermarket cat-back really make much of a performance difference on these cars?
    • The wiring diagram for the R33 RB25 is freely available, and is essentially the same same as most other RBs (just with differences as to which pin # does which job). To get the ECU to power up, you just need to provide power to the ECCS relay, and have the other power feeds that come in from the top left of the wiring diagram (wrt the ECU) that give perma power to the fuel pump relay, the ECU itself, etc etc, all connected. When you put power on all these it will just come to life. It's pretty clear from the diagram what needs to happen. Just follow the lines from the 12V + supply stuff in the top left over towards the ECU. I've even posted snips of such diagrams (not for vanilla 25, I think for Neo and 26) to various threads here in the last few months, talking about what it takes to get the fuel pump and FPCM up and going. Search these up and they will help get you started on doing the same with the vanilla 25 diagram. Hell, for all I know, I've done the same with that one in years past and have forgotten.
    • Yep...so unless someone posts up the answer you will need to probe from the ECU connector to the dash plug with a multi meter in continuity mode to trace the wires.  Note the ECU has multiple - and + (and across different key settings - Battery, IGN and Start) and most likely the power is fed from the connector(s) that is normally near the left hand headlight.
    • Thanks Duncan, I am actually just trying to get the Rb turning and running with the RB25DET S2 original loom itself  I am just trying to get it going outside the body and not thinking about the S15 or trying to match anything to the S15 loom at all I am only trying to see if anyone has done this and what pin they found to be the ignition trigger and ECU+/- on the dash connector, that's about it. Thanks
