Hi guys,

i've been tooling around on this forum for a year or two now, mostly as a reader rather than a poster while I had my cefiro... well I defected to NS for a while after I got my 180sx but now I'm back with my latest purchase - a minty nice series II R33 gts25t.... so i thought I would introduce it and myself so if you see me round on pacific hwy on the north shore you can give us a friendly nissan wave...

anywho - see you all round!

Heres a few pics:

thanks for the kind comments guys...

reeser - I am using it as a daily for the mo, so maybe some wheels, stereo and then later when i get bored with the power i'll start adding a few engine mods...

hell yeah its kursed, all my cars have been

hEY kURSK,

So, tell us,

why did you switch from the cefy to the 180, and then from the 180 to the series 2 r33?

Which i best or what do you like about each, why, etc.

Thanks

I sold the cef because I wanted a manual turbo and the ceffi was an auto - but it was so damn clean and purty that I still regret selling it, should have kept it as my daily driver... So I got the 180sx, which was nice as it was a manual and back to the nice sr20det engine. thrashed around in that for a while but it had borked suspension so I put in some nice coilovers and turned a nice streetable 180 into a car that was almost undriveable on shithouse syd roads...

fuggin potholes would send my kidneys into my lungs... my girl wouldn't get in the car after she experienced one of my regular slides in the wet (unintentional one this time!) due to stiff suspension, a corner and a well placed pothole... very ghey.

So I guess I kind of got over the car (not only that reason there were more like back seat space, a really squeeky sunroof etc etc) and i had a holiday in europe coming up and the extra cash helped too.

The R33 - its modern, fast enough for a daily, roomy, and I luuuurve nissans... I know it would serve well as a good basis for mods if i choose that route. so thats about it i guess!

peace~

Luke

its actually a full 3" from turbo, with Xforce muffler. Its quite loud, I set off all the alarms in the carpark at chatswood when I drove through there on saturday hahahhaa oops. will have to watch that one.

as I said above, plan is a few comfort mods then once I am bored with the power i might start tweaking the engine... she's only got 70,000kms on her so shes a good base... and once I detailed it after i picked it up I found there was actually a nce car under all the grime!

    • Don't even try to run it on the stock ECU if you're going to have the boost controller bring boost above ~10 psi. I've already told you that. If you use the Nistune ECU, you will need to CAREFULLY read the available documentation for Neo tuning, and read some threads on the Nistune forums, to discover the various things you have to do to prevent the ECU from going bananas when the boost is too high. The is a table associated with th boost sensor that must be modified to prevent it from shitting the bed. This is just one of the things that you will need to do to the tune in Nistune, because the Neo turbo ECU will be expecting to see a number of things (such as the TCS) that are not there, and you have to block the DTCs on those. It is totally not surprising to me that you are having the problems that you are, but the solutions to these problems have been known for >15 years. So just get it done.
    • Hi. Sry iam not a mechanic and iam not at the car atm so i dont know 100% but they told they measure those and even try to change those. AFM they have two. Coils are new a they have my old one too. Plugs too. ECU...we have 25 NEO stock and Nistune 25 NEO.   But i dont know if any one those could be the problem and why/if/what can cause this, Only thing they did not check is fuel...but that walbro 255 is new(like 1,5 years)... That fuel pressure gauge idk...but i let them know Any suggestions?   EDIT: how can they know if it is like you say he ECU pull power when it reaches a specific boost level that is too high? Tha car has boost controler
    • Can you clarify what you mean by boost cut, do you mean it misfires both when under load (driving) and when stationary and out of gear? Or does the ECU pull power when it reaches a specific boost level that is too high (boost control issue)? Does it occur at idle with no throttle? When you say "the ECU is OK", what ECU is it and why do you think it is OK? Have you used the NEO ECU, and if so do you have a MAP sensor attached? Same for the AFM, why do you think it is OK? Do you have any way to put a fuel pressure gauge on it (even just a mechanical one between the fuel filter and fuel rail)?
