Cheers gary, i have moved the battery to the passenger side in the boot. I know the track day guys have this corner weighting going on from time to time so i will have to get it done in the future.

What about the fuel pump, have you moved that over to the LHS and rearwards?

The rest of the fuel refinery in the boot?

Radiator overflow bottle?

Power steering reservoir?

ATTESA reservoir?

Winscreen washer bottle?

Catch can?

Driver's seat?

Stereo speakers?

Clutch lines?

Remote oil filter?

Oil cooler?

Intercooler?

Rear winscreen wiper?

Seat belts and mountings?

Unused brackets?

etc etc etc

Every little bit helps.

Cheers

Gary

heh nice list let me see

The rest of the fuel refinery in the boot? Guess i didnt think hard enough, i thought placing the surge tank in the middle and the fuel pump on the drivers side would be pretty good for distribution. Will have to work on a new design that puts surge tank/fuel pump on the passenger side. Btw do you think my setup is overkill, i thought it was fairly basic.

Radiator overflow bottle? would be easy enough to move to the boot, just a long hose to there but thats fine.

Power steering reservoir? will look into that one

ATTESA reservoir? gtst so no attesa

Winscreen washer bottle? same as radiator overflow

Catch can? is currently just an icebreak bottle in the front bar. didnt think of putting it in the boot tho, damn there will be some hoses going to the boot if all this goes in there :P

Driver's seat? As i have a sunroof once i have a helmet on my head is hitting the roof, looking in to a bride seat and lowered rail. Would the go be to move it backwards? Not sure how id reach the pedals then? :)

Stereo speakers? all stereo is gone, same as a/c

Clutch lines? Whats the go here?

Remote oil filter? dont plan on getting one

Oil cooler? Will mount somewhere at the rear if i can find space, maybe even mounted horizontally, with duct.

Intercooler? id only do that if i ever deregister it, which i wouldnt mind but i have no where to keep a car trailer :P

Rear winscreen wiper? Gone

Seat belts and mountings? Gone, now registered as a two seater, carpet and all rear trim seats gone etc sound deadening is next.

Unused brackets? Rear demister box is gone, inc its wiring and some other wiring and connectors.

Thanks again for the list SK

If you can't move things rearward (to the boot or the cabin) then moving them to the LHS is the go to help offset the driver's weight on the RHS. The intercooler for example, do you have it mounted centrally? How about moving it to the left slightly? Similarly the driver's seat, move it over as close to the transmission tunnel as possible. That's good for weight distribution plus it helps with safety, moving the driver away from the door.

The standard clutch lines have a a loop for cooling, a mounting block, bleed nipple etc. Flick it all and use one short piece of braided hose. It doesn't save much weight but its on the RHS, so every little bit helps.

Just an FYI.

I had the Datsun 1600 measured (only front to rear weight distribution) at a local tip which had a set of large scales to measure cars/trailers.

I think it cost me $25 or something quite small like that.

You can weigh the whole car and while you are there, put half the car on the plate and measure the rear/front which then gives you the weight distribution.

Wont give you corner weights but helps with the front/rear balance.

I've transferred the battery to the rear (passenger side) for suitable 'wedge'.

With the SR20DET/intercooler/S14 gearbox/big brakes etc. the cars weight distribution was 52/48. Total weight was 1080kg with half a tank. Not too bad IMHO.

A bit more tweaking and I'll get 50/50, but I'll worry about that later.

next thing is to try and measure the corner weights!

Bumping this!

After a bit of reading and getting my new set up all done, I thought it might be a good to look into corner weight balancing, As coil-overs are getting installed.

Ive been quoted $500-600 from a couple reputable shops now. I was pretty gob smacked! The same place will be doing my 4WD wheel alignment, Rubber fitting, Coil over set up

Is corner balancing essential for a street car?

Corner weighting is usually around the 5-600 mark if the car is roughly balanced to begin with.

I've had some that have had ride heights all over the place, seized locking collars, stripped wheel studs the list goes on and on with potential problems that can occur.

Typically for a road car I'd set basic ride heights, sit it on the scales get an idea of where it sits and if its in the ball park leave it be.

Just be sure the car is setup before the alligment.

    • Since winter isn't that harsh anymore in Poland, i will definetely drive it 365 days a year 😉. But if the snow hits i will try it for sure and let U know. Only swap i am planning to do is of course R34 GTR front 😍.
    • Hey. Very valuable information about pitwork, I will pay attention when buying any consumable parts 🙏 As for the carpets - I got a handful of information from nengun, from which it appears that indeed the carpets for the driver's side are OEM. They are not able to show me any pictures due to the long chain of different sales entities but after I place the order, as soon as the goods arrive at the nengun warehouse from which they will send the shipment to me they can send me photos and if my purchase differs from OEM I can immediately return it / cancel the purchase. I think I will give it a try 😉. Of course i'll let you know what's what as soon as i get them P.s. I know the topic is not relevant to the thread, but both nengun and amayama have these SICK 😍 trunk room lamps available. Do you know anyone who ordered them? I need to have one in my car
