The skills listed in these positions are relatively remedial stuff, especially for a graduate..

You wont get too much more than 50k for support stuff (L1 or L2 - Desktop). You want to start looking at Networks (engineering), Linux/Unix, SAP, programming, management (good luck till you're older than 30) etc to find the larger money.

So many kids coming out of school thinking they know how the IT industry works cos they've played with a PC all they're lives and expect to earn $100k by the time they are 25 cos they are in the "IT Industry"

Primordial, you are so right! This is an entry level job for a graduate & I can't believe so of the noobs comments. The pay isn't great, but a lot of noobs DO think that just because they know something about microsoft, and used a pC since they were an infant, that qualifies them for the big salry jobs. No it doesn't. I have looked around @ jobs and don't do too badly outta the IT industry. Some noobs just have a big ego, but would probably get laughed out of an interview, even on a lower paid position.

I think they are not looking into the bigger picture, how their resume will read in 2 yrs and how quickly u can advance if you really know ur sh!t.

I'm a Help Desk/ Service Desk recruiter in the CBD and i've worked with the ABC....not to rain on the parade but they aren't very good to work for. The wages are low and the technologies are old.

If anyone has great skills and comms and is looking for a new role in the new year please send a copy of your updated CV to [email protected] as i come across roles all the time.

Please add your salary expectations and any additional info that you feel may be relevant.

Just make sure u mention that u saw this on SAU and i'll move you to the front of the short list...
