I was offered a Desktop Packaging role at Fujitsu for $70k a year. I turned it down.

But I'm 27 with 6 years experience in IT.

LOL!!

ooh, and for those of you that are just leaving high school and thinking about doing an IT degree. Think twice.

I guarantee that everything and anything to do with IT that can be moved offshore (yes that includes coding) will be moved offshore within the next few years.

Become an electrician. They make a lot of money, and we will always need electricians to be in Australia. They can't very well wire up a house from india can they....

P&O Ports had a massive IT department that was hiring and growing and then all of a sudden it got shipped off shore just like that!

300 IT Clowns out of a job......

They only had one weeks notice...

I Agree...Become an electrician LOL

I question that statement wilch.

By "Desktop packaing" do you mean a std rollout jb, coz if so there's no way u'd be paid that!

Doesn't sound very glamrous.

    • Yeah, Duncan is helping sell me back to Android devices. I've hated the whole Android head units due to their speed issues. Even in my old Hyundai Kona (2022 model), it behind the scenes was Android, and slow and shitty to start up. Once running wasn't bad, but still a good 15 to 30 seconds.
    • My roof rails are off atm on the E39 until the rust is fixed. I did find another little bit of surface rust under the rails when I took them off. As @soviet_merlin said I'd just leave them alone unless you're planning on ensuring they're properly sealed. I was on the fence about leaving them off as the delete is still a thing in BMW E39's but I feel like the car is missing something (er, it is, der) with them off and I'm looking forward to putting them back on.
    • Man, I miss having a phone that fits into my hand!
    • The speed this thing starts up is making me want to replace my old one. Though my old one immediately kicks into reverse camera as soon as reverse is engaged, it's clearly not part of the android system. For everything else though, starting up, connecting to hotspot, opening maps, starting music in spotify is easily a ~2 minute affair.
    • Yeah well per the video it took 15s for the stock unit to start up....even if I give it a few seconds discount for starting that is at least 12 sec before you get a reverse camera if you are trying to leave a park.  The android unit is way faster, but 2016 for the stock unit is a long time ago in consumer electronics
