I got a new alarm and paid a premium for it.

Also went to a reputable auto electrician to get it fitted and paid $225 to have it fitted. (not including door actuator)

Things they did not do.

1. put my interior back togeather properly

2. connect up the siren!!!!!

3. connect up the bonnet or boot switch

4. connect up the central locking loom

they explained yje fact that they did not install the siren. because I did not want it in the normal place. so I went home and installed that myself and all was good untill I reallised they did not connect up the boot OR bonnet switches.. I mean FFS... who does not connect these up. Neither did they install the central locking hookup.

Also the alarm went off randomly lastnight for no reason while the car was in a locked garage. leading to the fact that it is probably not installed properly...

Called them this morning and they told me they don't usually connect up the boot switch because it takes too long. they did not tell me that...

did not even offer to fix it. and will not look at it for atleast a day. I am not even going to take the car back there as I do not trust them, it is just wasted money...

I could have done a better job myself. I fuc^$n hate shonky car places.

I agree with Skylvia-post them up. I did a search for 'bad traders'(not to be confused with Rogue Traders...),and I can't see the old link for shonky dealings. Being that the event actually occured, you're not slandering them;merely stating the facts,so give us all the heads up where to avoid by jotting their name down...

um, hang on.

yes something may have happened but we don't know the facts:

- what if it was the work experience kid?

- what if it was a trainee?

- what if they didn't hear the request properly?

- what if they have since disciplined whoever did it?

- most importantly, what if the OP cannot prove that any of it happened?

- what if, in light of this lack of proof, the business subsequently comes after sau because of these ostensibly unfounded allegations?

comments on this forum could seriously damage their business, and no one here is really in a position to comment on these events.

if the OP wants to do something about it, they should pursue them through the Office of Fair Trading:

http://www.fairtrading.act.gov.au

Yeah, I am not really keen on slandering a business here regardless of their dealings. They have offered to have a look at the shonky work, so I give them credit for that.

However driving the car yesterday ging around the corner a bundle of alarm wires and the brain fell from under the steering column and landed on the floor.

the whole alarm will need to be rewired.

just got back from the place in question,

they remounted all the wiring and brain, set up the sensors again and were polite and helpful.

We will see how it goes... if it keeps going off in the middle of the night I am going to be pissed off.

when i got my first r33 i took it to a place in fyshwick (they're not there anymore...) to fit an alarm. the alarm kept draining the battery - i.e. flat in two days. they never fixed it though they 'looked at it' many times.

mate i hope you get it sorted ok. and the thing is, with a dodgy alarm, you're never quite sure whether it's working or not. and the knowledge that it might not be working has insurance implications also!

yer for several reasons i would love to know who it is but other than PMs we really shouldn't broadcast it i'm afraid. :O

  • 2 weeks later...

to be honist when i was searching for an alarm and imobliser ever one i looked at seamed like a cheap toy. and to be honist most of them are. my mates r33 just got stollen last night it i had a full alarm and imobeliser installed.

ones not to buy

any thing NRMA APROVED all specs on wireing are to easy to acsess

these brands are rubbish, vission, rino, mongose, (too easy to hot wire or bypass)

would recomend hornet and viper, but be prepaird to pay nearly $1500 on a top of line sytem

it may be alot of money, bit in the long run its worth it, there are so many pro's out there and canberra is starting to become like sydney. iand if your wondering why there are so many cop's in canberra at the moment it's because a massive amount of cars have been stolen in the last few weeks.

    • Seat of the pants assessment of the new intake: The car is way less "doughy" when hitting the loud pedal, especially off idle when stopped or in traffic, I did use a cheapo lazer thermal thingo to measure the temp around where the pod filter got its air, it was between 55 - 60°C, in saying this the car was shut off and not moving, so the OEM intake pipe was not supplying any fresh air to where the pod was when the car was at least moving A weird bonus was induction noise on the throttle in the cabin increased a bit,  I was worried that I was actually going to lose some of that induction noise I love so much, outside though, when I got the daughter to do a WOT drive by pass for me, the induction noise has increased alot when on the throttle, not quite ITB doort, but well up there I'm extremely happy with the results and have been exploring the country roads in the region  As for house mods: 1.New front fence is up and is awesome, it really upgraded how the joint looks from the street, and the added security is nice 2. Electricians have replace some interior lights, and with more lighting in the garage, a few new motion detecting lights out the front above the garage, front room, and at the front door, which I have already found heaps helpful coming and going, also now has fancy pants CCTV all round the house The only hold point for power though is the solar and batteries due to supply issues, although this will happen over the next few weeks 3. I have done a heap of landscaping out the front and I'm almost ready to do a new small retaining wall with some nice blocks to replace the brick and cemented in rocks around the raised garden beds cemented in river stone "was the fashion at the time" the house was built. I currently have a pallet of retaining wall blocks and 2 bulka bags of 20mm blue metal to replace the wood chip that is in the raised garden beds around the house 4. I now have 3 big raised garden beds for out the back to grow some vegetables, about 70cm high, 200cm long and 100cm wide 5. My 2 compost bins are already pretty full with brown, green and kitchen waste from the landscaping I'vedone so far, but they will probably take a few months to break down, so anything else that gets chopped, trimmed, and kitchen waste will just start filling the base of the raised garden beds to about 30cm before I start throwing 40cm of good compost, and stuff, for the vegetables to grow in, I'll need a few ton of compost and soil, but the local supplier can sent me bulka bags of the stuff Basically the logs, wood chips and a few strategically placed rocks for drainage, will give the beds some good organic materials down low to break down over time, and they will hold moisture during the warmer months to save the water in my big arse water tank if we don't get alot of rain So, all in all, the car and house mods are going well, and I'm really enjoying being retired, I sleep in too 0700 and slowly plod around inside until I feel like actually doing anything, and only work in the yard for as long as want, which has actually been alot over the last few weeks,  although when you look at it, it seems that not a huge amount of work has been done,  until I look at the before I started the work pics Happy days and good times indeed
    • hahaha yeah. Plan is to get side skirts and probably just rear pods. But going to do them one-by-one. I've got a set that I really like from RHDJapen, but that one isn't shipped to AU. So need to find someone who can get it for me
    • Here's an idea, answer the questions I asked you as they are trying to work out WHY the LSD will be binding up in a straight line.
    • You haven't driven many modern cars then have you? Most of them have sfa steering feel with their stupid electric bullshit steering systems.
