Yeah thanks for the responce. I knew I was driving a dunger but I didn't know how dunged! I guess I better reserve judgment until I drive a good example. I have driven a Gtr with 200,000k's on th clock and it was still great, I spose it was owned and serviced by someone with a bit more mechanical sympathy.

Anyway My Gtt's sold and I've ordered a Gtr :D

It would have been nice to own a classic BMW though. A new one is a little more than I'd want to spend!

I thought E36 M3s were now considered slow - until this one whipped my arse around the track:

but then again, you would be surprised what(well driven) low powered cars can whip skylines arses around tracks!

in independant testing the latest m3s do mid 13 quarter miles, so dead stock they are quicker than GTTs but not R34 GTRs, and IMO not classed as a supercar("normal" supercar) performance wise, but are in most other ways.

I did a M3 driver training day around philip island in brand new (4,000ks old) m3's... awesome car, so nice, well balanced.. it certainly doesn't put you back in your seat and doesn't 'feel' quick but thats because it's so smooth. a quick check of the speedo and i then realised i was going fast.

I'd have(want) one as a daily, but not as a track car, can't beat a well sorted out GTR on the track.

Good cars, you drove a 10 year old example with the S50B32. Hunt around they come in 3.0 ltr and 3.2 ltr guise with the 3.2 having the double vanos, better sump and a few other bits and pieces. Some people think the 3.0 ltr is a better engine for playing around with, but all the serious hitters world wide use the 3.2. The fastest BMW in Australia runs the same engine you drove with a turbo.

They are a great car, a bit of fun. From the factory they are geared far to long, especially the E46's so shorter ratio diff gears should be on the cards with anything that has a 6 speed in it.

Definantly capable, and a good bit of kit.

Yes. Very. Mate just bought 1. 2nd hand. 76k kms, GPS, sunroof, 19" rims, metallic black. Bought it for 78k.

The only place good E46s are going for 90-120k are from a dealer.

Not quite!

An high standard used E36 M3 goes for about $35k-$50k and an as new used E46 M3 are between around $95k and $120k.

    • Heater wasn’t working in my 32  so I decided to pull my dash out ( sounded like a great idea at the time) so initially I was sure the heater core was blocked. When I pulled it out turns out that the heater blower actuator was cable tied so it stayed shut and this prevented the heater core from doing its job as well as flowing. so currently the dash is out the heater core is out and seems to be fine but I think I’m in over my head  and need someone that knows what they are doing to take over and get it finished. I’m located in mt Annan, nsw 2567 if anyone has any ideas or suggestions please let me know
