Hey all

Thought i'd post this here as it probably has the biggest audience due to some of you being way too smart to stumble into the wasteland. :)

Just thought i'd let you know of my good experisnce with Justcar Insurance

I cancelled my insurance policy on wednesday last week and received a cheque for the refund 2 days later on friday afternoon.

This isnt that big a deal, i was just pleased that the customer service quality is that high that they didnt fluff around for weeks on end before even sending the cheque out like my previous insurer did when i cancelled my policy last time

Anyway dont take ths as gospel as maybe when you come to deal with them they may not be as good, but for me.. I am impressed

You've got my vote Justcar

Glad you're impressed with them... :)

Given that I also cancelled a policy with them (due to selling the car) and had a totally negative experience, I'm even more irritated at the way I was treated now!!!

I guess this just illustrates that there's always going to be conflicting stories regarding insurance companies and that any advice should always be taken at face value and not treated as gospel (as you've already noted :P ).

For what it's worth, my cars are now insured with Shannon's and I'd rate their customer service to be significantly better than JustCars in all areas.

Can anyone say, repairs with second hand parts?

Or

ur repair quote goes online and who ever can do it cheapest gets the job?

Ill be going with shannons next who will give me real agreed value, someting just cars do not.

My 2 cents....

Not trying to sound silly, but I dont think there are too many new cefiro parts floating around. Ditto with many other imports. Hey if it was a brand new car I take it back. But if it was an import give them a little slack.

Either way what I find is funny how many people are happy with how well they took the cancelation  Bit ironic.

I cancelled my insurance policy on wednesday last week and received a cheque for the refund 2 days later on friday afternoon.

I cancelled my insurance with AAMI when i traded the Alfa for the skyline and they did the same thing, told me it would be like 14 days to receive cheque but it arrived 2 days later.

AAMI Sister Company or Just Car, just in case anyone didn't know. So thats two quick responses plus the more posted.

Drew.

How old are you? (Dont have to answer)

I want to get a quote for a GTR just for curiosities sake as the reasons I didn't go R32 GTR was Insurance would be higher (Already is $3400 for a GTS-T, 18yr old, 5 months license) and more power and I am unexperienced with relatively high powered cars.

For me I have my Skyline with JIS (justinsuranceservices.com.au). Their policies are comparable (appears JIS win it actually and Shannons have a great policy!). Plus JIS were quoting significantly cheaper than a car I had with Shannons which was less risk (2003 Monaro) and very similar sum insured. My personal experience. :P

im 24, own a s2 33 2 door.... just car, 2800 first quote then 2900 second quote when i actually bought the car.... shit-house then shannons to the rescue with a 2200 which is a chunk in saving... not slightly over 1k but good enough for now

next year hopefully will see some drops in prices for me due to aging

I was happy with their premiums as well. I'm 23 and got an R34 GTT 4 door with agreed value of $23k and I pay $1400 a year.

Thats good, I'm 22 and got a R34 GTT 4 Door with market value of liek 20,500 I think and cause I only have 50% ncp my insurance premium is $2107 inc. Body kit and upgraded stereo.

    • So could it be assumed it has been installed intentionally with potentially a power FC boost controller kit?
    • Had my rig on Matt's dyno at PITS the other day. After a few years between tunes I added a few sensors and swapped intercoolers. Result. 553hp at 26psi. Not bad for an FJ20 that was built in 2007. The problem.. It filled the overflow bottle on hard runs which leads me to believe the head gasket isn't sealing. I have a coolant pressure sensor which was reading cap pressure at 22psi and occasionally overrunning to 23/24 psi on deceleration after a pull. It was not spiking. It has arp2000 head studs and a cometic gasket. As its been 18 years in service, I pulled the engine out and head off. Everything looks good but we obviously have an issue. Where I'm at.. Years ago I had the same issue, I checked the stud tension and they were all over the place. Some at 60 to 70 and some up near 90. I nipped them all to 100ft lbs and this stopped the water push until now. I believe this compromised the gasket back then. What do I do? 2 options are..  1) I bought arp 625+s, which I could put in with a new gasket. Thinking Kameari this time, reassemble and try again. 2) strip the block, get fire rings machined in with copper gasket and try that. I do not want to push it more than 28 to 30psi. I think the turbo will be out by then anyway. (G30-770). My other concern is the long term ability of a copper head gasket. Are they streetable for years? I feel like a new gasket with the new studs will probably suffice, but I don't know. Any thoughts welcome and advice on copper gaskets and fire rings. Thanks!
    • I'm a fan of the JZX110, and the Aristo. Big cruiser cars, and with the factory cars, super comfortable and feel like you're driving an armchair! And the JZ motors are a pretty nice engine too, especially with some basic mods.   The import process, and the need to be able to trust people, and the fact there's so many scammers around is what ever puts me off wanting to go through that ordeal!
    • I don't care for these at all, but at least the underside looks straight and not rusty. A good basis for a long life. Many cars from Japan have been lifted with forklifts and f**ked almost irrepairably.
    • Yes, but it's not dumb or dodgy. You can build a perfectly good boost controller from a pressure reg, a relief valve (looks same same as a reg if all from Norgren or SMC, for example) and a check valve. I ran one for years. Only superceded with  EBC because I could get one for cheaps and wanted finer control.   THis mod is certainly not a sketchy boost mod, provided the boost is kept below the "spin to death" threshold of the turbos.
