Just saw this in the Trad Post (no its not my car). Is there that much difference between the original 100 Nissan Australia cars and the imports ?

NISSAN SKYLINE GTR 1991/1992, Australian Compliance, 1 of 100, 99800kms, burgundy, log books, VCW-065, $29500 or near offer EARLWOOD 0411-49 9799

This seems cheap, although the Kms are higher than some imports for similar money ?

I believe there wasn't much difference, the Aussie GTR got an oil cooler for the transfer case, and maybe an engine oil cooler but I'm not completely sure.

The Aussie delivered normally fetch a lot more than the imports. 2 weeks ago I saw a black R32 GTR at Peter Davey Toyota for $44950!!

MX8: another reason Aussie spec cars are often alot dearer is the history that comes with a locally sold vehicle. Most of the time you can get service history with aussie spec GTR's which is real peace of mind when you buying a hi performance car.

Also there *may* be a slight cost saving on insurances being locally delivered.

The extra cost usually associated with Aust delivered cars comes from them having service history etc too prove the amount of kms they have done. These KMS in this car are probably genuine where as you could add anything upto 100,000kms onto what an import says on the clock. I should know I looked at heaps and have bought one. Many of the imports said 70,000 kms on the clock. Yeah right. Lucky if they were 175000.

That is a cheap car for Aust delivery and if you are looking may be worth a look. Be careful though. A lot of people get into the 32 just being able to afford then and then something goes wrong and the extra $5-10K they cannot find.

Mick.

The aerials on Oz Spec models are different to the imports as well. Australian delivered 32 GTR's have small external aerials mounted on the roof at the middle point apex of the front windscreen. Imported versions have built-in aerials. The only noticeable trait of these is when ur sitting in the car you can see a thin strip of line running vertically on the passenger side of the front windscreen.

My 32 has the roof mounted aerial also!! I dont know why its on there because the windsreen has the actual antenna in it. I think Mark Skaife has the number 1 of 100! Still having any aussie deliv GTR will up the price.

    • Nah that is not actually a lot. Just painting my GTR frontend and the little bits to make sideskirts/nismo flare pieces work correctly/fit on the sedan/mount up correctly came to about $7000. Is it a lot? Sure. None of this is economical. Economy would be shelling the car and buying a 2010 Corolla to commute in. The perspective of all of this is different.
    • I have the re003s’ on my 06 XT Forester Turbo and I highly rate them for street wet and dry
    • I don't see any issues here. I've been saying all along this is a big job, the price reflects that.  When the car comes back perfect I'm sure it will feel like money well spent.
    • Remember, take original quote. Double it. Then add a bit more. It's how any project goes.
    • So, I started this repair and got as far as "fixing" the holes with some fibreglass. God all those years working on boats came back quickly. I decided I'd reach out to some rust guys just to see what they would say about it. I came across a guy about 40 mins away and went to see him. He said the windscreen needs to come out, that there might be some more bits around the windscreen and he'd quote them at the time. But his quote was $300 to remove and replace windscreen and $3k for the damage he can see. He said he could respray the roof for $1200 and the bonnet for another $800 (somebody has previously rattle canned it, its horrendous). This is $5300 + any small additional bits. It's a lot, I get that and the name of one of my fave youtube channels 'Not Economically Viable' comes to mind.  I'm not being financially rational, but I've taken him up on the quote. He's opening a new shop in November with more room, so we're waiting for that. I'll leave the currently missing headliner out until then. I'm looking forward to it being fixed and having the paint looking nice again (lots of clear coat issues on the roof too). / flame suit on.
