I have been trying to get my air conditioning working in my 1993 R32 and have no history on it and bought it without knowing anything about the A/C

I have checked and it is fullly gassed there is pressure in the lines but it was not working so I checked the relay under the bonnet and it was working so I checked all the fuses next to the steering column and only 1 was blown I replaced it and it did not blow so I put the AC on. it works!!! yay!!! about 5 min after driving there is horrible smoke in the cabin and the fuse has blown the fuse I replaced was a 20amp fuse and have scince discovered the AC fuse is only ment to be 10amp. so the one that was in there that blew was uprated and still blew.

The thing is, it did work for 5 min before it blew. so could it be a short? has anyone got an idea on what could be wrong?

Thanks.

If it blew the fuse, then that most likely means that it is a short. Or perhaps the unit itself has a short in it.

While I don't know anything at all about the aircon system, I have had a constantly blewing fuse in my daily driver. Turned out that the wiring loom was in such a position, that it kept rubbing, which chaffed the insulation off.
