Learnt to drive in a Auto Datsun 180B :( Hehehe... I remember doing a big rollback burnout in it. In reverse doing about 20km/h, dropped into netural and rev'd it upto about 3000rpm and slipped it into Drive and the thing just stalled.. . LOL

Next was a 1980 Datsun Stanza. Loved it, great fun, and the back seat got a good workout :D

After that it was a 1988 TX5 Ghia, nicely done up with spoiler kit and all the crap.

Then I saw the light and got a R33 :uh-huh: :uh-huh:

I was a Holden man for many years, but I always liked the GTR Skyline and Ford Sierra which I saw racing at Bathurst, but never thought I'd be able to afford one! I still can't afford a GTR but a GTS-t is the next best thing. Here's a rundown on what I've had over the years in chronological order:

(all manual box unless specified)

Mini (learned to drive in it)

LJ Torana 4 door 173 (shitbox)

XY Futura with WILD 302 Windsor (with bald tyres and crap brakes, disaster waiting to happen)

UC Torana hatch 202 auto

LX Torana sedan 253

UC Torana hatch 202 (worked) and celica 5sp box

VS Commodore V6 auto

VS Commodore V8 modified almost as wild as the XY, but only got around 160rwkw. Still a bloody good car for a Commodore. Had brake & suspension mods too. Its handling and stopping power surprised a lot of people. The R33 still does it better though.

I think it's funny how so many of us have upgraded to a Skyline from all sorts of other engine configurations - 3, 4, 6, or 8 cylinder doesn't seem to matter, the turbo 'line is an upgrade to all of them :P

ok.....

Ford Spectron van.......

Holden Jackaroo......

HJ One Tonne Ute, complete with 253 V8 Stage 3 cam, 3 inch exhaust lowered, good wheels tryre, 3 Speed (yes.. laugh i did too) 4.11 diff, it was a good car....Edit: read Country boy....

HZ One tonne ute (after the HJ died) Stock 202 6 no mod's...Sold to brother...

Toyota Corona....(girly's first old car)

Vp Holden Commodore....V6 Exhaust, chip, lowered, tint's, VR kit including race wing, Momo Streering wheel, Mag's.....Sounds nice....goes well, Roomy (Skyline owner's will know what i mean)..:uh-huh: I THOUGHT it handled well and stopped fairly well....

R33 Skyline...(stock) Very different car to drive. No torque like the Commie, but once the boost kicks in........:burnout: Handles a shit load better Stop's amazingly quick, What can i say, it's a far superior car and it's a 95 model....

Cheers

LoZ

    • Drain it. I got official Matic D but you can get whatever is listed as Matic D compatible.
    • Thanks guys,  Yeah I should at least have them dynoed, at least then I know what I've got as a starting point.  The springs on these are hard as rocks. I vaguely remember Russman saying he was going to sell the shocks to me with the rocks fitted, as he was keeping the softer springs for his new setup.  I didn't click at the time but of course that was to let me know the shock/spring wouldn't be matched.  I also remember pricing up new springs around 2014-15, but, house, money etc. it never happened. So that was another reason to have them rebuilt. I have rebuilt the forks on many motorcycles so I think I could handle the seals on these easily enough, but getting the valving right would be a rabbit hole I cbf exploring.  Duncan, interesting to hear RP was tuning these back then. I might give them a call.  In the mean time I have been busy fitting sway bars. The Whiteline rear sway bar I purchased 15 years ago finally got fitted, along with the Whiteline front bar that showed up last week. Just waiting on new links for the front sway bar to finish that off.  And my spare set of advan AVS VS5's should be back from the powder coaters in a Pearl White finish sometime this week, with a set of Hankook RS4's lined up for fitting.  And then I just have all the suspension bushes to do. A comprehensive kit is on the way... Lots to do before the Ararat hill climb. Cheers guys 🍻
    • Nice car! I’m glad folks in the US have gotten past the FnF and are buying real cool cars like the 260RS I was with a bunch of mates in Portland about a year ago and spotted a green Stagea (just a regular 2.5T AWD) parked about 2 blocks away and they were like “a what?” So I made a bet with them for a round of beers and said “ok one of you run down there and tell me if the steering wheel is on the correct side” 5 mins later the American comes trudging back up the hill and goes “he’s right guys. Ok what beer do you want?”
    • Should replace OR drop the tank, give it's good clean. Might be worth replacing that entire fuel level/pump/cradle thing with this: https://frenchysperformancegarage.com/products/fpg-s13-180sx-r32gtst-single-pump-hanger-kit-billet-hat-6-v3-fpg-089?gQT=2
