hi

thinking about upgrading my turbo

need to go as high as 800hp +

fast spooling when use with rb30

which brand makes good turbos without raping the wallet ? may be something that can compare to a HKS To4Z or T51Kai ??

How are the pricing for turbonic turbos ? are they cheaper then HKS and the quality as good ?

when i look at a turbo sizing, how do i determin what kinda power out put it has ? how do i tell how fast it will spool ?

thx

800hp @ the wheels will never spool quick even on a rb30

a T88 could do that but your wallets gonan get a raping

is this gonna be a dyno queen or actually driven daily/track/drags

how are you going about with the Rb30? parts, rough price, which workshop? im lookin at getting one built with a rb25 head (been quoted between 7k to 10k by various workshops, sound approx right?)

Will be looking at t51R spl on about 45psi boost, no i am not joking. or Turbonetics Y2K on a bit less. I looked at the Y2K but the smallest exhaust housing is still way to big. this will definatily be a track car only and expect to run atleast 100 gas to spool it on the brake.

hi

i am not looking for a twin turbo FAST SPOOLING, but i just wana compare, which is faster between these single turbos..

i am planning on a Track / street car...

Gary "sidneykid" is building my RB30 with a 900hp compatible range.

head is only 272cams + tomei springs and retainer kit and valve guides

turbo is T78..but looking to upgrade, greddy in-plenum.

etc...

Have many people on this forum tried getting tricky and using one of those MrTurbos cores? This guy, in Sydney i think, makes CNC cut watercooled ballbearing cores and shafts, which give you almost any choice of turbine and compressor combo!!

I saw some scary 1500hp setups using his cores, advertised in an American sports compact mag few weeks ago as well.

I know of at least one person lurking on these forums with one, are there any others? What did you use, how did I fair compared against stock unit?

    • 1/8NPT drill size = 8.7mm. Since the hole got messed up by me, it’s probably around 9mm.    So 1/4” NPT would be next step. A drill size of around 11mm would be preferred there which is not way of my M12 (drill 10.5mm and tap M12 threads)

    • Why are you so adamant on going M12? Why not follow Brad (GTSBoy) suggestion. You're talking moving from a 1/8" size, to a 1/2" effectively. 4 times bigger. Why skip the commonly available sizes in between? The bigger you go, the more likely you are to strip the threads out at a later date, as guaranteed, someone will put a huge spanner on the M12 and really tighten it up, and you're only in thin wall, so not a lot of threads to engage!
    • Hi. Yeah thanks. Car is already at tuners and it staying there to resolve "many" issues they do not like. So it is in a good hands. Getting a good tune on that Nistune ECU too so the car would be good. Just needs a little tune up and love.
    • Probably gonna remove manifold and turbo. I’m not sure if I can get M12 x 1.5 air tight. Could use high temp Loctite 246 or something similar, but I don’t know. Maybe it’s just best to remove everything again and weld an 1/8NPT on there instead.
