Hey guys and gals,

tossing up ideas for my next toy...

as much as i'd like to build my cefiro, i want to put the money to better use while i have it (investments etc). So i'm looking at other options.

Where can i find VIP style kits for r33 4 doors?? I want to see if there's anything that tickles my fancy and I can't find the old "body kits" thread.

Also, over-fenders and flared guards...? (pics)

Thanks in advance,

Dave.

wouldn't really consider a R33 suitable for VIP treatment...

but any Wald, Insurance, Final Konnexion, or Diana kit (that's listed from most expensive to least expensive) from japan should give you a junior-pimp look.

You want skins for your doors, so that they sit flush with the sideskirts, and bumpers and sideskirts that go straight down instead of on angles like the drift look vertex knockoff ones.

Yeah, me neither really... more like a half-arsed VIP look... was thinking guard flares all round (the lil lip ones that bolt on - know the ones?) or maybe replacement flared guards on the front and guard flares on the back (more of a drift look); teamed up with a nice front and rear bar, LOW suspension (possibly air); tint, huge rims with plenty of dish and leather laden interior etc.

you know what i mean?

If VIP is what ur after i would stay away from 4 Door R33's.... look pooh..

Cefiro... Celsior... Laurel or if u are wanting a 4 door skyline go the R32 or if you have the moula go R34... they look PHAT AS!!

JUST BUY THE CEFIRO

I reckon it could turn out fantastic.. Just be prepared to spend up big, don't take any shortcuts on the kit and wheels.

What about importing something >1988 already pimped up? Something with factory bags and height controller maybe..

A celsior is my most likely purchase i think... there's one i really want but if i spend that much on a car, i'll have less to play with so i might get a pretty stock one and do a few simple mods.

Don't tempt me... it's killing me to not let myself go nuts but i know it will be much better in the long run :D

if i get a cef, i'll add drift mods (can't help myself) and spend more than I want :spank:

if you want VIP, buy a JZS147 Aristo... end of story... cheapest, coolest import atm. You can get the 2JZTT and make it a sleeper/cruiser, or buy a 2JZ N/A or 1UZ V8 and make it fully pimped (as a bonus the 1UZ models come with airbag suspension so you can drop it like its hot).

Under 20k easily for a late 1996 model.

There is no alternative... except maybe a Chaser or a Mark II.

Forget the Celsior.

I'm with funky Aristo shows execpional value... couldn't belive some of the prices quoted on J-spec. factory option wings are already pimpin too :D

Are Cima's still coming in under any rule?

Oh! I had no idea they came with the 1UZ & Air-bags!! that makes them so much more appealing! I'm really fussy re: the kits on them tho... generally, it's an ok looking car but there's only few kits that make me want one. It is on the list tho :) my mental debate is between that and the celsior.

or a CIMA! coming to a store near you

Sexy as! but the current SEVS ruling is only for the 2001(ish) model isn't it? which is a little more than I want to spend :worship:

Yeah, I've had that one bookmarked for a lil while now... How hard is it to find:

*1UZ

*Air-Bags

*Leather Interior

*Cheap :)

??? (My knowledge on the aristo's is very limited atm; thus my complete ignorance to the fact that they came with the 1UZ)... we could be on to something here :ermm:

(Funky: I think you're the person I'm really directing that too...?)

yeah soon i hear! *giggles like a chick*

already

but as above... only '01+ models... any possibility of the older?? for affordability...

if i could bring myself to put up the extra moolah, this would be the kinda base i'd want:

    • Thanks for doing that Duncan! Makes you a good person in my books. We don't get kangaroos or wombats here. But we have bats and it's similar. AFAIK it's often the mums with a baby attached that get hit because they drop lower when starting from a tree. If you hit an animal, check on it. https://www.ifaw.org/au/resources/wildlife-rescue-app An app to get the closest wildlife rescue contact.
    • My dream is also to have a proper hoist, but I don't think it will ever happen. My quickjack is probably as close as I'll ever get, it really is very good though.
    • Yeah we keep on in the dailies, it is pretty poor how many animals get hit and the driver leaves without checking....have saved a couple of little ones over the years. Bit of a gruesome job though, pouches generally need to be cut open because they are so tight and often the joey doesn't realise mum is gone so they are still locked onto the teat. I checked the modules in front of the DS wheel where an oil cooler should go.... There is the radar unit - that can go for race use) One of the 2 HX water pumps, the silver cylinder. That needs to be kept but might be able to be relocated But the bad news, the big computer mounted vertically in front of the wheel (blocking any potential air exit) is the electric steering computer. That is required until/unless i do a hydraulic steering conversion, and in CAD based modern car design it is not like I can just pop a big unit like that somewhere else (plus the loom would be too short anywhere else too). So, the passenger side is OK to clear out (just use a smaller washer reservoir, potentially elsewhere), but the DS no beuno
    • Well, all the best with the new camry It was interesting to hear about the UK process, it is generally a lot more streamlined here with a shipping agent looking after all the import side (noting the exact final price can still be a surprise.....) and I've used a few different brokers on the japan (or US) side, and never had any trouble with any of them....luck of the draw I guess. You mentioned you didn't get the auction sheet (understandable since you bought it from a dealer, not auction), but I always try and get hold of that because they are pretty thorough. I've imported 2x R grade vehicles over the years and both were fine, repairs in Japan are pretty thorough compared to here in Oz.
    • BTW I measured the jack I have, it is 70mm at the saddle but you only have about 700 until it returns to 150mm high at the cylinder so it is good but no magic bullet.
