Hi Guys,

Just a quick post that this weekend the cops are having a giant blitz on anything with wheels along pittwater road on the Beaches.

Last Night I saw more than 40 highway patrol cars (2 of which pulled me over within 500M of each other) along a 2km stretch.

They were everywhere and pulling everybody over, i was lucky to get home alive!!

Both cops that pulled me over were reasonably nice, the 2nd being a young lady who was very nice but the first guy was a bit of a tool, telling me that i can remove my guages on my own, or with a defect.

So anybody driving 'round the beaches tonight - be VERY careful!! I have never seen anything like it before!!

Christian

yeah BY BY said the exact same thing

the thing which pisses me off is that i have a ****box car but it has a 4inch muffler and is VERY loud. i dont even want to spend money taking the damn muffler off...im cheap

but still i would prefer to spend the $50 or so taking it off then getting 2points taken off, from my Ps, and getting a $200-$300 fine. knowing my luck ill get a fine on the way to the exhaust specialist.

I've never had a problem with female cops, especially the young ones. Was nearly gunna ask one out one night :D

I couldn't imagine that many cops, round town on saturday nights up here is usually pretty good cause all the cops focus on the M1 (highway between brisbane and goldcoast) and the Gold Coast.

But why do they need to spend $40,000 + on a highway patrol car (SS or XR8) to sit on the side of the road pulling people over ? Oh that's right, they're out to try and pay for em :uh-huh:

Damn Sydney cops are crazy!, we never get hassles here in Adelaide, lucky to see a 1-2 cops on a friday or sat night cruise.

Sometimes they do setup a defect station or 2 , plus a few radar guns ,but nothing more than that.

Remind me to never drive my Skyline to Sydney, actually saying that they probably wouldnt bother me as to much paperwork for an interstate car :D

Not good at all, hope things quieten down for you guys soon.

Crazy stuff.

Jimbo: Pranks gauges are same setup as yours by the sounds of it.

The cops on the beaches were nothing short of insane... i have never encountered so many police. We were again informed that 80 police cars are working the beaches this weekend... every corner, every side street and carpark i passed there were more flashing lights... and thats no exageration. Luckily myself and R33deviat got away without being caught however one of my friends who was crusing with us got done... the result was 2 defect sheets and a 45 min long shouting match between the cop and the driver.

Bring on the quiet exhausts!

Man this new law has just gone to the cops and rta's head!!!!

Get this for a fun weekend now the new laws have come in!!!

Fri morn get woken at a very unreasonable hour of the morning (10:30am) after a HUGE night at greenwood. No one home so get out of bed to answer the door in just a pair of boxers. Guess who was standing there................ no takers??????? An RTA inspector ffs!!!!!! As soon as i saw him i felt like doing this....:shake: but being half asleep i decided against it. Neways he asked me am i so and so and do i drive a R33 Skyline rego no. yada yada yada. I say yeah why????? Apparently i had been "randomly selected" *cough* B.S. *cough* for a full inspection of my veichle!! Agreeing to this (unhappily) i go get some cloths on and show him to the car. Well 45 mins later after he combed every thing with a fine tooth pick, writing down stuff and ticking and crossing other things on his pad. I was expecting for him to say "defect this defect that" but he just kept his mouth shut and went by his business. He made me start it up and rev it aswell which i did but no enough so a certain venting device "whats that:p " didnt make a sound!!!

So after all this he left and said "we'll be intouch" and that was that!!

All i can say to this is sorry but WANKERS!!!!!

After this i thought well nothing else can happen, HOW WRONG I WAS. Fri night with BY BY and one other Skyline, we were apparently driving "stolen" veichles according to the cops, around the northern beaches! Basically it was a very interesting night to say the least, there is nothing more terrorfying than seeing more than 40 highway patrol cars in one night.

Neither BY BY or myself were defected LUCKILY, although Matt wasn't so lucky.

So it was a very fun fri for me!!!

I am not a lawyer or anything but methinks I would have politely refused his request and gone back to sleep.

If they are gooing to carry on like this, let them set up a time mutually agreeable.

JMHO

"after a HUGE night at greenwood"

i go out with heaps of mates to the same area..north seedy leagues, north point, greenwood then blueberries

anyway, a guy came up to our house and said "you have been randomly picked to fill out this survey". My mum had no idea what was happeneing and thought it was compulsary. the RTA came into OUR house and made my mum fill out forms. these forms said "wherer did you drive to today...how many KMs travelled....name and number of place travelled too" This is no bull****. we had to tell them all the cars we had, how many KNs they had driven and where and when we travelled to. anyway my dad gets home and isnt a happy chappy about the situation and he ALWAYS speaks his mind. it was so funny cause he rang the RTA and said "How F#cking dare you F#ckwits comes into our house and invade our F*cking privacy. F%ck you.." this went on for a while. the guy was going to pick up the forms in a few days but after they dad rang up i dont think we'll hear from them in a long time.

ohh yes the RTA does suck penis.

    • jeebus. glad you weren't under it while performing the stunt. Also thanks for the link to the wheel measurer, exactly what I needed
    • In the older stuff there were very significant differences 2wd to 4wd, for example Stagea had strut front end for 2wd and double wishbone for 4wd so it was not minor to swap. From poking around the 2wd v37, it *looks* like it might be more possible; some of the parts specifically have "2wd" stamped on them which suggests the platforms are more similar. You'd still want to start with a 4wd half cut to swap stuff from though. I'd suggest if you don't have a tune on the ECU you don't really need one on the trans either. Throttle mapping is in the ECU side (and you can always use a Roar Pedal if you want the throttle to actually respond to your foot), and really if you are happy with the stock power you probably accept the stock trans behaviour too....its all made to be "sporty" not racey.
    • So, updates. I have not washed the car since it came back from Tassie. I've driven it around a bit but not got around to actually sorting it out. I DID raise it because I cracked the rear bar leaving a hotel which was very distressing. Interestingly, the car drives more compliant now that it's raised a fair bit (5mm front, 15mm rear). Also noticed that my FR height was 10mm lower than FL. So that's now sorted out, too. I also bought this and had it printed: https://www.etsy.com/au/listing/1576422240/wheel-and-tire-fitment-tool-universal?ref=shop_home_feat_1&dd=1&logging_key=08f604d9fa4cc383550ba985e6ac85cd5cac7fbb%3A1576422240 Now, if I was smart I would have taken my brake calipers off to actually use this correctly but it was evident enough to me that in the region where the caliper was... there was nothing to hit suspension/guard/arm wise. So I'm going with "it'll be fine" after using the tool to hopefully very precisely measure the wheel clearance. Also while doing this, I had the very VERY bad idea of jacking one of the wheels/suspension arms up while the rest of the car was on jack stands. I did this to see how the arm would travel. This all was well and good until the car slid off the stands and went through a fence. So don't do that. Incredibly nobody was hurt and there was only minor damage to the rear bumper as the car didn't have far to slide, and had 3-4 wheels on it. The only damage turned out to be the fence itself which was easy to fix, and a little bit of damage to the fibreglass rear bumper trim. I had already planned to try a touch up paint kit to fix the time I drove into my garage door to see if it'd help in the interim before I get it fixed properly. I used the Dr Colorchip kit after looking online and seeing everyone talking about it. Yes it's made for chips and not huge broken missing pieces and I'll be 500% recommending it for stone chips after using it for stupid things like me. This took about ... 10 minutes and looking at the half assed photo the 30 second job I did on the bumper corner was almost perfect just by using the tiny little brush and painting it in. The sealact stuff to remove over-painting is really useful, so if/when I do it again I'll likely slather the touch up paint well over it and then clean it up with the cleaning solution. The wheels should arrive in a couple of weeks. I am still kinda confident after doing a stupid amount of measuring (and borrowing a set of 18x10.5+15) that they will not fit because I overlooked something, somehow and flew too close to the sun. ALSO R34 GTR guard liners do not fit on a GTT. I bought the undertray brake duct guides and had the wonderful problem of them not fitting my intake, my oil cooler and the liners themselves were even worse. Attempting to fit them won't work in general - You would have to cut them up as another poster mentioned as the bodywork is different on the GTT. At least I can try to resell them. So instead of cutting those up, I cut up my old already-cut-up GTT liners and extended them by using some PP plastic and drilling some 8mm holes for some nissan clips for the 'extra' bit. Because I was happy to cut them I was able to mount them pretty damn forward so I now have some semblance of guard liners, and the brake vents seal the bumper from the bottom. It sort-of-looks like this, to give some idea - If you look at the GTR and then the GTT this is when I realised that I needed to seriously measure as the inside of the rim area is entirely, entirely, entirely different and could not take any internet measurements for granted.
    • If you are Ecutek tuned then these TCU tunes are anywhere from $550 to $700 usd. If you are not ECUTEK tuned, then it gets costly!
    • Sorry to hear your HFM BM57 was faulty,  did you contact HFM I would hope they would be at least grateful for the information if there was some sort of manufacturing fault, you would hope they would be sympathetic even if your item was 2 years old if it had never been fitted. May I ask where it leaked from ?
