Hi Guys my car has been off the road for approximately 4 months now due to no licence. The battery has sh#t itself because I didn't disconnect it and it was drained by my alarm. In an attempt to get it started to get the fluids circulating I charged the battery with a charger and the next day tried again to no sucess. I have also tried jump starting it a couple of times and have done so once or twice before the car was off the road. I have accepted that when I get it back on the road im just gonna change all my fluids, oil and get a new battery while im there. My question is have I done any damage to my car by jump starting?.. it ie will my ecu map be affected. Its a 96 S 2 33

Also is there anything I should expect seeing as its been off the road for so long?...

Performance only Mods are

After market turbo

Boost controlelr

Blitz FRIC

Dump Pipe

GTF fuel pump

Turbo back exhaust

Turbo timer

Apexi Front Strut

Thanx for any response

where abouts did you try and jump start it from? the batt or the conection points under the bonnet? ive heard that if you charge it or try and jump start it from the batt in the boot, it can blow fuses and so on.. which is exactly what happend to me. blew the parkers fuse (dash lights, tail lights and parkers). best to just jump start from the point under the bonnet thats made for it.

when you put the batt back in, did it tick over at all or just stay dead? just thinking the batt may be totaly dead or need a top up of water.

when you replace your battery unplug your CAS so you can click it over to build up oil pressure.

after 4 months you most likley wont have any oil around your bearings or in your lifters, doing this will help build up pressure without putting any real strain on your bearings before there is oil pressure.

other than that, your maps and everything should be fine.

Basically, jump starting is no good. Doens't matter if you use the protected cable, or special booster pack, you always have the potential to blow things e.g. fuses, electrical components etc.

Some people on here may beleive differently. You may have done it once, and got away with it a few times, but if you jumped it like 1000 times, something will break.

When I was younger, me and my mates used to have this paddock basher that we used to take out on the weekends for doing whatever. The battery was dead. We used to jump it every time either using a protected cable or a booster pack. It would usually be ok, but everynow and then, you'd blow a big fuse. Last jump we ever did on it blew the ecu.

Also, keep in mind, that if you've left it for 4 months, the battery might not charge at all.

just jump start it. it aint rocket science  nothings gonna happen

just do be a noob and get the polarity wrong.

also jump starting is no diferant from normaly starting of your batery lol. its a batery and you start it. the only diferance is theres some long wires instaed of it being mounted.

I know that nothing will happen normally. Also, once the cable is connected, nothing will happen.

It is the initial arcing that occurs when you first connect the cable on that can cause fuses to blow. It's up to you whether you believe me or not. All that i'll say is that I always exercise a degree of caution when I jump start because I have done it before and blown fuses.

    • Hey all  im wondering if you can help me please I have put a rb20 box in my r34 gtt as my auto packed up and a friend had a spare box I know it’s not ideal but it will get me up and running for now. we have done the conversation and everything is working great but my Speedo we got a s13 speed sensor but my Speedo reads double now and I bought a speed converter but still not having any luck.  so I thought I’ll reach out and pick your brains  any help would be appreciated please as I wanna drive my car again
    • Drain it. I got official Matic D but you can get whatever is listed as Matic D compatible.
    • Thanks guys,  Yeah I should at least have them dynoed, at least then I know what I've got as a starting point.  The springs on these are hard as rocks. I vaguely remember Russman saying he was going to sell the shocks to me with the rocks fitted, as he was keeping the softer springs for his new setup.  I didn't click at the time but of course that was to let me know the shock/spring wouldn't be matched.  I also remember pricing up new springs around 2014-15, but, house, money etc. it never happened. So that was another reason to have them rebuilt. I have rebuilt the forks on many motorcycles so I think I could handle the seals on these easily enough, but getting the valving right would be a rabbit hole I cbf exploring.  Duncan, interesting to hear RP was tuning these back then. I might give them a call.  In the mean time I have been busy fitting sway bars. The Whiteline rear sway bar I purchased 15 years ago finally got fitted, along with the Whiteline front bar that showed up last week. Just waiting on new links for the front sway bar to finish that off.  And my spare set of advan AVS VS5's should be back from the powder coaters in a Pearl White finish sometime this week, with a set of Hankook RS4's lined up for fitting.  And then I just have all the suspension bushes to do. A comprehensive kit is on the way... Lots to do before the Ararat hill climb. Cheers guys 🍻
    • Nice car! I’m glad folks in the US have gotten past the FnF and are buying real cool cars like the 260RS I was with a bunch of mates in Portland about a year ago and spotted a green Stagea (just a regular 2.5T AWD) parked about 2 blocks away and they were like “a what?” So I made a bet with them for a round of beers and said “ok one of you run down there and tell me if the steering wheel is on the correct side” 5 mins later the American comes trudging back up the hill and goes “he’s right guys. Ok what beer do you want?”
    • Should replace OR drop the tank, give it's good clean. Might be worth replacing that entire fuel level/pump/cradle thing with this: https://frenchysperformancegarage.com/products/fpg-s13-180sx-r32gtst-single-pump-hanger-kit-billet-hat-6-v3-fpg-089?gQT=2
