My R32 wont kick over. It started playing up a few days ago ever since my alarm screwed up. We had to jump start it etc. Last night it wouldn't start again, so we jump started it again and it started fine. Today it is doing the same thing but my brother insists its not a flat battery. We tried jump starting it again but it just wont kick over. Its not the fuel pump cause we tested that. I'm thinking some sort of ignition problem..? Does anyone have any ideas...? Need to get this sorted ASAP. Don't really want to tow it anywhere.

so your engine is cranking? i know a few things:

if there's not much charge in the battery you can have problems with starting/smooth idling (even though the motor turns over)

if you have problems with your alarm (with immobiliser) then depending on how your immobiliser is setup you wont get power to various places (fuel pump, ecu, ignition, etc...)

i'd be making sure i get ecu power by checking out the led on the unit (on when key is IGN position), making sure the fuel pump is flowing fuel to the fuel rail when the motor is turning over, get the immobiliser situation sussed out by whoever installed it...

So, the starter motor turns the engine, but the engine doesn't want to fire? Have I got it right?

Nissans are VERY sensitive to voltages. A battery may start the car, but then the alternator expends so much of its output re-charging the battery that the ECU thinks there is a problem and the car runs like crap.

The other thing is that the ECU needs a minimum voltage (somewhere around 7V) to be "alive". If the starter motor drains so much voltage that the voltage available to the ECU is less than this critical value, then the engine might spin for ever, but the ECU isn't alive to fire everything off.

If you ever have troubles with starting and batteries, the usual fix is a new battery.

I'm going home tonight to give jumpstarting it another go. It worked last night. I'll go buy another battery asap. It's got to be something to do with the battery. My alarm went off the other night and we had to just let it sound untill it drained the battery (I didn't have the key to turn it off). And since then i've had problems.

    • Ok thanks..that was my second question if i can somehow bypass this even with Nistune(that is all i have right now...aparat from stock ECU. So with some aftemarket it can by "bypassed" or make it work?  I know there is Link or Haltech (mainly used). We have ECUmaster here so i will gather some info about it.
    • Yes. You will need to get the original boost sensor and wire it in. That is.... if you plan to use a stock ECU - even a Nistuned ECU. The Nissan ECU will not operate correctly without it connected. And yes, it will do annoying stuff like you are experiencing. You will almost certainly be better off with some aftermarket ECU, than trying to hunt down rare sensors.
    • Ok so ABS/TCS is "not" the problem. Yeah i know now about the ABS with Nistune(i told that to the Nistune guy) but iam not 100% why or why i dont have ABS. ABS cube is in the engine (always has been) but i had braked couple of times rly hard and brakes just locked and scream. Does all Skylines have ABS cube? I need to ask but i have a picture of engine bay and i do not see that (100% is not in that place) If i do not have this the car can do what mine is?(cutting around 4000 rpm) Here is the pic of my engine bay(only one i have) BUT i think i dont have that cuz loom was used from my RB20DE NEO and i know (obviously) that it does not have boost control or any wire to that...) so maybe that is the problem? (i dont know for 100% if that car where the engine is from had that)...but i dont have the loom from that
    • I'm with you here. It's either loom has an issue, OR, injectors are not functioning properly. It could even be they're just constantly dribbling, hence the wet, but not firing.
