but owning an import now comes with the territory and stigma that we are all hoons, who doesnt enjoy driving there cars, i know i do but there is a time and place to do it. i was pulled over driving to brisbane not long back for RBT on the bruce hway, i was behind the cop car following him at the speed limit he pulled into the left slowed down a bit lane waited till i i had passed him then pulled back out blocked both lanes of traffic and pulled me over for rbt, now there was 200 other cars driving, why did he happen to single out a skyline for rbt? bcoz it stands out like you said and its an easy target for them to identify. the guy who is driving home from the pub drunk, is most likely not gonna be in his skyline. hes gonna be in a normal every day family sedan, but how can u tell which one is which? and at the risk of offending joe publie, atleast if they pull over a skyline its gonna be a young guy with an attitude according to them, even if hes not in the wrong.

I only been pulled over twice since owning my liner. Both RBT, now they wave me past cos they figured out i live right where they are pulling ppl over. Never been pulled over for the sake of it.....you prob doin something to give them a reason. Same when I had my VN .... always pulled over until they see you out always.

I'm not sure weather you read my post or not, so i'll say it again for clairty. Out of all the times I have ever been pulled over apart from one which was a speeding for which is entriely my fault i have been using the the road within the road rules, speed limits and acting like a normal motorist. The sole reason for being harrased by police is becuase they do not treat motorists with equality. It makes me wonder why i pay my tax's.

and when i was pulled over on bruce hway i was travelling to a mates place in brisbane, i was following the cop not tail gating or anything for about 5 km before he decided to move to left lane wait till i pass and pull me over. so i wasnt doing anything wrong, but that is not a "RANDOM" breathe test in my opinion.

Exactly. There is no such thing as a "Random" Breath Test. I have only been on the Sunshine Coast for 4-5months and I can tell you that the cop presence is far worse in Toowoomba if you can believe.

It all comes down to flavour of the month. The media focus on a dramatic traffic accident (eg: dickhead crashing an import at high speed); bleeding hearts do gooders complain that the police are not doing their jobs; Cops host massive defect checks and target every import until their quota's are met in order to respond to the outburst with facts and figures. It's hard not to hate the cops because they are the ones pulling you over for nothing, but they are not all that is to blame. I just stay smart and stay low. I take my bike out when I want to go for a thrash, and I cruise around discretely in my Skyline to show that I am still alive. :)

if i was a cop, i would target modified cars too. its an easy target, and there are vids on youtube of them doing this, eg. "i love p-platers, i love hoons" etc

so either make your car legal or dont drive it.

pretty simple

i just rerouted my cooler piping and put a new rear muffler on my 32 and it is now completly leagal

Did you plug up the hole under the battery tray? If not they could still pick you up on that. Apparently that is a life threatening modification to the structural integrity of the car

I agree the police aren't totally to blam. My sister use to work for the council and I know that they targeted the "hoons". I find it a little amussing that they targeted the hoons on the sunny coast. They brought up cops from Bris to try and stop everyone from crusing. So then less people did go crusing less, and what do you know, violence and drunkin behaviour in Mooloolaba goes up. Now they are trying to get ride of all the night clubs in Mooloolaba. So soon there will be more house parties. Yah bring on the 300+ people parties that get out of hand and trash the street!! I think it would have been easyer to just let us sit in the car park with our cars. But the council dosen't appear to be very smart here. We even put in a proposal a few years ago to use the runway at the airport after 10pm (as planes didn't land there after 9pm). They could have even made money off it, but they didn't want to be seen promoting hoons.

yeah mad sure i covered my arse and while it was in the shop getting the cooler piping done (which now goes under the chasis rail and down beside the bottom radiator hose and is still 100mm from the ground) i got them to patch that and i put the verex muffler on the rear

lol Who are you people, darren who are these people? Is there any of the sunny coast ' old school ' crew left? Argh all these new kids on the block! I'm away from the coast for work for a few years, is it still gay for being pulled over buy cops?

Yes is has been a few years, haha. I moved overseas. sold the GTR. How about you, do you still have the gtr?

Just got back from a weeks holiday at Surfers Paradise. Loved It!!

Spotted heaps of Skylines and an R35 GTR also.

One thing I noticed is that none of the cop cars at Surfers had radars mounted on them. Do your highway patrol cop cars have them??

Why did you sell the r34, it was a great looking car, I spotted it a few times around the coast, so what you doing with yourself now days? Yeah i still have the ol 32, was just getting ready to sell it and buy an r34 gt-r when the yen shat itself... so i'm just about to start a ground up build on her, its gonna take a while but by the end it should be pretty mental, think full house rb26/30, full adjustable suspension, lighter doors/bonnet/boot ect, roll cage and so on. The aim is easy 10's and still be able to run good times at the circuit :D

well they do have them mounted on some cars but i have never seen them being used much. not sure if they have newer technology nowdays or not like infared. i saw a bayside blue 34 gtr out today on the coast. anybody from here? not sure if its the same car but i saw another one up heading toward gympie on the bruce hway earlier this week aswell.

I though i new most of the skyline owners of a few years ago.. what colour is your gtr, you ever see a midnight blue one kicking around??

Yes it is gunmetal gray (yah someone remembers me lol). I was friends with Graham (who had the blue bird turbo), Kim and Gav (who had the pular gtir that Ragolie's blew up, more than once). I know a few ppl saw me race Stew (I think that was his name) in a black torana when I first got my car. Plus I put my car in a dyno comp in Kunda park and got second by 6 hp(although I got ripped off cause they where doing my car in 5 gear hittimg speed limiter till i pointed it out, so they did it in 4th, but they did the v8 car that beat me in 3rd gear). There was a few more times I raced ppl, but these where the times were there was the most ppl there.

And yeah I have seen a midnight blue one, but it was a while ago. I don't come out much anymore so I am a bit out of the loop.

    • The question then becomes - was there any fluid coming from that hole before you did the rebuild ?    You may not have noticed, of course.   Depending on how you did the rebuild, the possibility has to be considered that somehow (cleaning ?)  fluid entered that hole and is now being 'forced'  out by small movements of the proportioning valve.   From the factory, there's actually a small rubber plug in that hole but with age and under-bonnet heat it's quite common for it to 'go missing'.  That rubber plug is designed to allow the venting process but also to prevent 'stuff' getting to the area (prevent corrosion, etc).   The plug is also not available as a spare part AFAIA. Personally I wouldn't race and buy a new master just yet but keep an eye on the area to see if the 'leak' continues.   If you're concerned about brake fluid damaging nearby paintwork, cable tie a piece of suitable absorbant material over the hole and remove/monitor occasionally.    Operation of the proportioning valve and the brake master itself won't be affected, but also keep an eye on brake fluid level, of course. In terms of a new master, the genuine part is getting expensive, unfortunately.  Amayama is showing AUD900+.   I was searching recently and there's an aftermarket part available from Japan made by 'Parts Assist': https://zenmarket.jp/en/yahoo.aspx?q=BNR32%2bBM50&p=1 Whether it's any good I have no idea, although in my experience Japanese aftermarket stuff is pretty good quality-wise.   The above site allows overseas buyers to purchase stuff more easily from Japan but there are fees and shipping costs, of course.   The original Japanese seller page is here: https://auctions.yahoo.co.jp/jp/auction/p1197401228 Copper/Nickel is fine but I still prefer bundy tube and it's also cheaper.
