hmm I might have word problems......by rails I mean the thingies on top of the car that run from the front to the back and aren't any use to put stuff on.

by racks i mean thingines that you would add to the standard thingines going across the car to hold stuff off the roof

:P

Whoa slow down there egg head, all that technical talk is just waaaay too much for me :yucky:

OK So now I understand, yeah any old rack will fit, subie, etc just go to super cheap? Hugh (aka 66yo) built his own, there is a thread somewhere about it...?

umm saw those....was thinking of something a little more formal :yucky:

I thought retail ones are fixed width but if they are all pretty much the same i will just grab some and see how I go

Thanks

While mine are pretty agricultural they do the job very well.

Originally I fitted my Suckeroo Forester cross bars. The fit was not perfect but were functional. Go to SuperCheap, but the bars are not cheap.

I now like some I've seen on X Trails. Big rails with driving lights set in. They look like something from Battlefield 2142. (Got the game yesterday)

I got a set of really good Thule ones for mine.

They actually have the stagea listed on their international roof rack guide.

But beware! The Aero Bars they list are incorrect! but the footing kit fits perfectly.

For the Aero Bars, you just have to measure the distance between both rails and let the guys at Thule know. They will match something up for you.

Mine have been awesome, they are super easy to remove too if you need. No tools required, just your key.

hmm I might be OK then the car is getting complianced in QLD....thanks fuzzy :)

thanks for the link terminal.....ironic that i was whoring all over that thread 2 years ago lol.

yeah, i'm scared too that i've had this car for over 2 years now... one of the first and finest stageas around :(

i'll be needing some roof racks soon. got a family on the way and i'll be needing the storage space on holidays

    • Working through possible solutions of converting my mechanical speedo.    Anyone know what type of speedo sensor the factory r34 gtr getrag has ? what the output is ? I assume its not a VSS and more a voltage like earlier speedo sensors ? Can an ECU read it ?
    • roof rail delete used to be a thing, they were made locally for a while too
    • I can get more photos of it here soon and I plan to make a thread detailing the process. I received the car this way and it sorely needs refinishing. That is probably the most appealing photo of it. Up close it is fading, cracked, and needs to be re-glued. Depending on their condition I'm on the fence between refinishing or making a new set.  Another angle hiding the pimples and razor pumps
    • According to this thread the RS4V with build plate RC40 comes with the R200 diff @ 4.083 ratio as well (mine has said RC40 denotation). We may need to check if the axle stubs are the same pattern as well. The auto subframes have longer axles. However I think yours being a later Series 2 as well, we should have the same bolt pattern for the diff stubs. Unless your upgraded rear also has upgraded axles. Either way, I would not be opposed to pulling the covers to check so I can inspect that  fancy rear core  Also I don't have HICAS. I don't believe that should change things but I hope the people here with heaps more experience than me can correct me if I'm wrong   Let me know if you want to attempt to make this work and I can get some pictures of mine from under the car.
    • It's not that straightforward. For example I have had this code because my ignitor/power transistor wires were unplugged. It knows something is wrong but has no idea what it means. If you want to actually diagnose this I recommend following the service manual flowchart for code 21. Ohm out the harness, coilpacks, inspect the ECU, etc. And again, it's entirely possible for there to be no problem at all but if you're running a different coilpack it'll trigger the code because it doesn't like what it sees.
