oooooh pretty!

I managed to pick up a couple of old copies of the magazine "AUTOMOBILE" from Wheels of Time bookshop.

I'm not sure of the origin of these magazine, prices listed are in Hong Kong dollars.

No idea how they ended up in Melbourne, but they're mine now :(

One of them (issue 215- 1/10/97) has a comparison guide, reviewing/comparing the Cerfiro, Opel Omega, Peugeot 406 & Camry.

Can't read a word of it, but the pictures are pretty :)

OMG. How much were they?

$40 each (plus shipping if you couldn't pick it up from me)

just finished flicking thru the Nov Option2 mag... and got my complimentary SnapOn gloves

oh BTW happy birthday turdy :(

They're vehicle/model specific modifying mags?

HyperRev catalogs are like a bigass parts catalogue for the specific model of car. We use em at work to identify parts on cars we buy, and also they're a great way to find prices of items quickly and contact details of specialist stores.

Option and Option2 are sorta like car mags with new product reviews, DIY guides, tuner cars... Option is sorta like Wheels, and Option2 is sorta like HPI... just... umm better.

Drift Heaven (DoriTen) is probably best described as the Japanese Driftbattle magazine... just... ummm better (notice a trend)

Club Skyline is a magazine that deals specifically with Skylines (GTR's, oldschool and family variants). Its only up to issue 21, its been running for a couple of years now. Its got great coverage on the newest stuff for Skylines, club meetings in japan, and other funky stuff.

There's also VIPCar, which deals with Celsior's, Aristo's, Crown's, President's, Q45's, Gloria's etc in all manner of VIP-ness (and some euro barges).

Only problem is that they're all in Japanese, so you've gotta have japanese coworkers that you can bug every 5 mins to ask em what something says, or be able to read it yourself (or have a japanese partner).

I know those gloves will be somehow used for sexually deviant purposes.

they have rubber grippy dots on the palm... hehe so cheap and tacky, but so JDM tyte yo! lol Although, I'm sorta over grazing knuckles while working on my car...

guys if you're after these magazines hobblinkjapan sells them for 2000Y per each item which is cheap yesno funky?

2100Y is the retail price of the mag in japan... so I dunno how they can sell em for 2000Y delivered to oz. But with the orders I did, it came to $40 delivered to oz and $5 internal delivery if you couldn't pick it up from me... the cheapest around that I could find was $55 something delivered.

I'm not doing this as a business, I really cbf, so I'm not in it for profit. I was doing the regular order of mags that I do every month and thought others might wanna buy stuff too, and share the cost of shipping from japan.

By all means, if you can get em cheaper go for it :( Less hassle for me.

lol sorry, din mean to come across as being pissed off or anything...

altho I did work out that if you buy em over the counter in japan you have to pay tax, wheras if you buy em from overseas its 2000Y.

I sent an inquiry to HLJ to see how much their estimate is for a delivered mag. Still waiting.

    • Hope you aren't too sore after that one, might take a day or 2 to notice yet and I guess it is a loooooong drive home. On the bright side, tube frame front end is a thing at superlap, right?

    • The chart of front pressure to rear pressure (with one being on the x axis and the other being on the y axis) is not a straight line on a typical proportioning valve. At lower pressures there is a straight line with one slope, and at higher pressures that changes to a lower slope. That creates a bend in the line at that pressure, called the knee point. If you do not change the proportionng as the pressure gets higher, you will suffer excessive pressure (at one end of the car or the other, depending on which way you look at the proportioning action) and then get lockups at that end. The HFM BM57, from my memory of previous discussions, is based on the BM57 from a different car (to a Skyline), with a different requirement for the location of the knee point and the distribution of pressure front to rear, and so is not a good choice for an upgrade on a Skyline. Here's a couple of links to some old posts, one from here, one from elsewhere. A lot of it pertains to adjustable prop valves, but the idea is the same. There are plenty of discussions on here about this issue from al the many years of people wanting a cheap/accessible option. https://grassrootsmotorsports.com/forum/grm/learn-me-brake-proportioning-valves/236880/page1/ https://grassrootsmotorsports.com/forum/grm/learn-me-brake-proportioning-valves/236880/page1/
