Why does everyone want gay stainless steel manifolds that crack etc heat fatigue, 6 boost manifolds and ones made from steel are 10 times better in theyr can b heated and cooled alot more times without damage plus they have been found to retain more heat and decrese spool up times of liek 2-5% percent from memory because they retain more heat the exhaust gas flow is quicker theirfore making the turbo spool faster, the only downside in weight thats all but if ur actually going to drive ur car ie do afew km's in it wouldnt u want something that is going to last....

Thanks Rory

note a link for some 6 boost manifolds:

i want a 6boost one but there is a bloody 4-6 week wait on them. i need my car back now as its my daily driver and its in peices as my stocker is cracked...

i have been told that the stocker will only crack due to running to lean....??? any comments?

I have recently had my 6boost (SR20) ex manifold and stock SR20 inlet manifold honed by Andrew Sanders (along with my turbo compressor cover). I don't have the before/after flow results on me but will post up later for anyone interested in this process.

OK for what its worth 6Boost ex manifold and standard blacktop inlet manifold (SR20) before and after extrude honing at 28 inches. Please note that my mandate to Andrew Sanders re exhaust manifold was not to equalise flow as I didn't want to increase the volume too much in runners 2 & 3 and loose any response. And my mandate re the inlet manifold was to equalise flow - which is nearly perfect. Just an example of the benefits of extrude honing.

2 220............245

3 222............247

For comparison sake I pasted this RB exhaust manifold flow data previously posted in this thread but Im not sure at what pressure the flow tests were done?

Some flow rates for you guy's from extrusion flow honing standard manifold ,hks cast iron manifold and hks cast iron flow honed

^^^^^ agreed but IMO the 6Boost manifolds has one of the best collectors in the business. Mercury Motorsport made 562 rwhp from their stock stroke sr20 with a 6 boost mani and GT35 turbo. This car also ran 10 sec quarters with manual box.

My manifold is also unique in that it has been custom made to suit one of the new round collector v-band Tial cast stainless housings for my HKS GTRS turbo.

Suggest you get in touch with Leigh from Extreme Turbo Manifolds if you need something sooner. The link is in my sig.

Found this link on power porting process of before and after hp figures done on a test mule RB30 engine when Specialised Power Porting was in its infancy.

  • 1 year later...

a bit of a update on a old topic but...... i just spoke to Abrasive Flow Engineering who does or did work for uas on hone and extrude and his exact words are for a rb25det manifold.

"""don't wast your time and money they don't flow as good as a hks manifold ""

and

"""for $900 to extrude and hone i would go and get some thing better"""

f#%$ me.this is from the guy who does them while some companies are begin for work due the the $$$$ crises this guy has shocked the sh#@ out of me so ..........after reading this post and many like it over the years and looking at the figures people have posted on flow have we all been grossly mislead by people in the industry have figures been made up for the trusting customer.

what is one to thing !!!!!!!

if anyone does reply do it here.: http://www.skylinesaustralia.com/forums/Ex...47#entry4450747

    • Hi. This is just my curiosity because iam sure the tuner figure something out...but either way i want to ask. The "problem" is that the Nistune ECU (Stagea FW and RB25DET NEO from Stagea) sees many times the speed than the speedo does(he says the speedo show 120 km/h - correct speed and the ECU shows like 510km/h ) I told him that this car/tranny getting speed from rear diff. If iam not mistaken the RB25DET NEO "need" to see tranny speed sensor? (my tranny has the plug for it). So couple of "question" If he connects/wire the speed sensor to the tranny...are the signals gonna intervene and if...what if he disconnects the rear diff one and the speedo stops working? Or the "new" sensor from the tranny "take over" and will not going need the one from diff? As i said i know he figure/get that done...iam just curious to know what are the solutions 🙂
    • Your IACV is set to idle too low. You need to adjust it via the screw Duncan mentioned. From memory it should be 650rpm with the valve electrics unplugged. What is it trying to idle at with the IACV plugged in?
    • Ahhh, I need the whole head unit. I definitely needed to roll back through and review your setup, ha ha! Neat setup they have going on. I just need a full double din head unit. But I want good and responsive. I might have to review what the likes of pioneer have out these days.
    • Ok so after much research and talking with knowledgeable people I've got my turbo conversion done and it's all running great other than 1 small issue.  Car has remained auto with the na auto and tcm, I've used a stagea ecu with. NIstune board and everything is great other than my gear selection on the dash. It illuminates park, reverse, neutral, 3rd and 2nd. But nothing drive or what gear your in when you pop it into tiptronic.  I'm sure there is may e 1 wire in the ecu plug I need to move to rectify this. Dose anyone here have any ideas?   Cheers guys
    • Sorry I haven't been following all the detail, so you may have tried this. Does it idle with the tiniest bit of throttle you can add? You've mentioned the IACV, does it have an AAC valve and have you adjusted it at all (ie, screw the idle adjust screw all the way in, then back it out a couple of turns until idle is stable)?
