Count me in.

Strathfield CR's at camperdown have a gravel carpark on the opposite side of the street, a little bit further down from the shop. Its close but not that close...

Rgs,

Kot

It was a vauge suggestion that we use a carpark belonging to Strathfield car radios but I never suggested asking them for advice.

Hi guys dont mind lending a hand if its needed, please, please :) , dont get strathfield car radios involved.I do believe you did say strathfield car prark yeh, S.C.R monkeys got into my car & left a spaggetti mess that any italian chef would comitt scuicide over :) . Myself & a mate ( who is a quicktrac installer ) spent nearly three days between us to work it all out.Not saying i'm sh*t hot but i have enough common sense to navigate a wiring harness. Did stereo installs myself since my first car & always learning,i'm not that far away from strathfield aswell ( plus know an auto electrician in the area ).

If you need me let me know.

I'd be willing to lend a hand and a soldering iron.

I've had tons of experience with car audio.

I agree with the above comments about steering clear of Strathfield CR, although i dont think Adam was suggesting that anyway.

  • 4 weeks later...

I did my first Skyline head deck install on the weekend with a mate. Must say we found it very easy (32) compared to say a commodore which I have watched been done before.

Also replaced the entire top section of the dash, and hooked up a boost guage!! haha.. was a weekend of learning :D

Sounds like a good idea but I dont have enough experience to help!

Perhaps a JayCar electronics carpark might be a better idea? They have many more connectors etc than Strathfield ever will and dont have an installation service. Also the guys in the shop would be happy to help you out too.

Yeah somewhere near a Jaycar would be a good idea. You're more likely to need to buy wiring and connectors etc on the day rather than the actual headunit/whatever... headunits and amps etc are usually bought well in advance... and Jaycar is a great (Cheap!) place for all the bits you'd need wiring up your system

I have a gas soldering iron, plenty of heat-shrink and electrical tape, spade connectors etc for doing this if you guys need another hand. Ive done plenty of stereo installs from basic headunits to roof mounted screens & entire systems.

I've also got a Jaycar trade card which im happy to use to buy peoples bits they might need. It yields great discounts :P

I have a gas soldering iron, heat-shrink etc, but not enough experience to do someone elses install - its all well and good to have a "bash" on your own project but I wouldnt want to stuff up anyone elses.

I would be interested in getting some advice or even just watching a few CARPC installs - this is what I want done next.

I am about to have a boot install done by FHRX.

    • It's funny, as Ive seen plenty of people use them in cheap builds on YT. And they actually go okay, even though a lot of other maxspeedingrods stuff is terrible. Those turbos seem reliable enough, the only part being, a good quality turbo that is "identical" to it, will out perform it day in and day out. In both a lower boost threshold, and the ability to flow more air at the same boost pressure. As a cheap cheap replacement, not a terrible choice. For cheap and shouldn't blow in a day, not terrible (like other eBay/Temu turbos) for low cost and still decent performance, that's where the question comes in to play from the results I've seen. I'd actually find it hilarious to buy one, and strap it to a paddock basher or some other cheap as POS originally NA car, and send it to the moon!
    • The maxpeedingrods turbo is cheap and bolts on to stock parts. I think you just need a bigger silicone coupler for the intake. Its a cheap china turbo, but it's been running on mine for almost 3 years at 16-19 psi.
    • What do they look like right after you've tried to start it with everything connected? Also post photos of what they actually look like.
