Buying Rims for my R33 GTS4 - Advice wanted

Recommended Posts

Hi all,

In the very near future I plan to purchase a set of 17" rims and tyres for my 1993 R33 GTS4.

Before I get my heart set on a certain set of rims, does anyone know what the correct offset is for my vehicle?

Currently it has 4 Stud 205/60/R15 (i think)

Thanks in advance!

eeek 35profile tyres on 17's! i'd never go that low unless i had 18's +

Thats kool chicane, thought the were 5 something or other

no idea bout the offset of non turbo Skyline's, i'd imagine they'd be quite normal as there 4stud not 5, most multi fit wheels should go on, not to sure tho..

Just spoke to a guy @ donnellans, I think ill go past there on the way home today..

He said that the 5 Zigen's are pretty pricey as they are a fully imported jap rim.. but said there are quite a few other makes which are a bit cheaper with that design..

A guy @ one donnellans said its a 35/40 offset

another said its a 42 offset

so yeah

Hrmmmmmmmmmmmm anyone got any definites on this?

Cheers

This is what I found in my owners manual.

the offset depends on the width of the rim, any good tyre place will be able to tell you if the rim will fit properly as well as if the rim will handle the weight of the car... most 4 stud are only rated for small cars like pulsars and have max load of about 500kg so are not usable.

I ended up with 16x7 offset 40, tyres 225/50 92V (Toyo TPG) these also made my speedo more accurate..

Thanks a lot for that image from the owners manual alistern - Just went down to quickfit in King St Melb and spoke to a guy there about what would be suitable.. Not that many rims to suit :)

Oh well, the search has begun :P

Hi all,

After going around to a few tyre/mag places today, seems some places don't seem to care too much about offset..

In regards to maintaining the correct offset for my vehicle, with the 15x6" rims on there at the moment (they have an offset of 40mm), if I increase the width by 1" to 17x7" is this new offset calculation correct?

Increase of 1" width = 25.4mm

25.4mm / 2 = 12.7mm

40mm + 12.7mm = new offset of 52.7mm required?

Seems a lot of mags i like come with 40mm offset.. Is this OK to use?

Thanks in advance

    • Hi Experts, My father’s car Mahindra Jeep CJ500 2.5L, 1986 model. Currently registered in Overseas.  Want to replace the engine in Overseas with Mahindra Bolero 2016 2.5 L turbo used engine ( not endorsing new engine number on Rego paper in Overseas. Then Importing to NSW. Is this car eligible for NSW registration if able to submit all compliance certificates?   Regars.
    • I know you said no amps in the boot, but there's enough space next to the battery for a pair of modern small foot print amps OR one small 6x channel amp. This is what I did over 6 years ago, used 2x marine amps (no decent 6x or 5x channel amps back then)
    • Pressure delta gauge is pure pron. No guessing, no excuses.
    • That’s the one. Yeah, the seller has confirmed the base ECU is from a manual car.    To be honest, I’m only worried about the TCS light being illuminated due to registration here in NL - unsure on rules. Back in Japan, we weren’t allowed to have any permalit error-related lights (or so my shaken guy said).    Looks like this Nistune is the way to go then, appreciate it GTSBoy, and the others that chimed in.
