All,

Last year I assisted the Nissan club by driving some young and underprivelaged kids around Oran Park North cct for a few hours. THIS IS NOT A TRACK DAY! You will be driving kids as young as 5 around the track and limited to 80-100Km/hr.

If you are able to assist, please PM me and I will send you the entry form and sup regs.

Please see the below link for more detail.

Thanks

so do you actually need to have a cams licence? or can you get a day licence?

I haven't really researched into the way cams licencing works.

No one day cams licence will be available for the day, again this is not a race day so there will be no CMAS officials available. If you dont have the L2S book you cant drive. Sorry

I will be marshalling for half the day, and driving for the other half.

Given my lack of turbo, I'll probably drive in the afternoon where the heat won't affect my car as much.

Look forward to marshalling for you again.

OK,

Looks like its just me and possibly Steve, my work mate with the white WRX wagon. Pitty we could not get more people involved.

Thanks anyway Oz

Paul I followed the link and read the information, it sounded to me as if they head to many cars last year and "marshalling was a problem".

I would love to do something for the kids but tell me from your experience, would I just be getting in the way. (you know I get uncomfortable in crowds unless I'm p155ed and there is a live rock band)

you're a classic!

well it looks like I'm officially out of action now... maybe next year.

good work guys, such a fantastic cause!!!!

Perhaps on the South Circuit, where the race cars and the bigger street cars (like the Lamborghinis) were running, but I was marshalling at the North Circuit, where the street cars ran, and we ran like clockwork. There was a pretty good turnout of cars. Not massive, but at the same time we didn't have people queuing half way back past the dirt course either.

Paul's GT-R was pretty popular with the kids if I remember correctly (The Wiggles in the CD player notwithstanding), as was the Ferrari 360 Spyder F1 that also ran for a half a day.

Liz, if you want to do some non-car related assistance we'd really appreciate it as well. I realise its not as glamourous as driving, but every little bit helps. Even helping to load and unload some of the kids from the car, given that some are movement impaired, would be really helpful. Otherwise, come do some flagging.

Bonkers,

Last year I turned up and drove about 20-30 Kids round the nth cct, 3 laps each time. Had to go by 12pm to take Bailey home who was still on 1 yr old. Felt like I did my bit, so please turn up, as I have had no feedback on numbers. Worst case we have a couple of beers and head home early. Call me to discuss if needed.

Paul, I'm interested but can you give some me quick run down and what time/where etc... :P

Dave

    • A few small updates since the previous post and lessons. I decided to do a little interior light upgrade on the 110. I quite like the iilumo items, even if they're a bit of a premium over other brands. You'll also note the Stedi Fogs, that will go into the S15 fog lights as I needed to match the bulbs since I got the new ones earlier. I hope they fit as the body is quite a bit longer than your normal bulb.  Annoyingly, I managed to trip the fuse, which normally wouldn't be an issue until I located the fuse. I can't say I've ever come across this. I had lucked out that someone nearby had a spare, but oddly enough Toyota dealerships seem to keep this in stock. I ordered some to keep in my stash and as luck would have it, someone else nearby tripped the same fuse so I passed on the favour.  I also did a little service on the 110 ahead of some additional work coming up. It's been annoying that Goleby's stopped carrying this particular HKS filter for the 110, so now I need to keep them on order from Japan. I also took the opportunity to install a bash plate and number plate riser. The plate riser is such a cheap but nice fix to help really tidy up the car. I'm tempted to now also replace my headlights, on this car. Both items were from Project Aero.    I also needed to replace the rear tyres on the 110, and after trying to get it aligned learnt that I need to replace some bushes in the front end, so that's next.  Closing out this update with a nicer picture as always!
    • Yeah mate, never miss it.
    • Any going to watch World Time Attack at SMSP this year?
    • Appreciate the correction on the "ground", that will make a huge difference to looking at this. That makes complete sense about AF70/AF71 which is what I had come down to being the issue, one of these. I'll have another look in the ignition wiring when I get a chance next week. I'll also make up a jumper wire for running that AF73 test.  ECU is fine, relay itself is fine, pump harness is fine and the pump itself is fine. I am going to upgrade the Walbro 255 anyway with a DW300 I have since I need to replace the fuel sender and I'm going to upgrade the FPR with my chasebays kit ready for new plenum/injectors/dbw, but I'll get this working first. That's why this is so frustrating.
