hi all, i have been trying to remove my old gtr steering wheel to replace it with the new one. i have got the horn button off. and and also the locking nut. from previous experiences with other cars, pull it towards you, and it should slide straight off right? well, this one won't budge at all! do i have to apply brute force? whats wrong?

craz0 what is a steering wheel remover? how do you use it? how much does it cost? where can i get one? same goes for the harmonic balancer remover? sounds difficult. is removing the steering wheel a bigger task that what i originally thought?

You should be able to get one from supercheap, autobahn et etc.

It's got like 3 or 4 big claw fingers that hook around the back of the wheel and a big bolt that goes through the guts of it that you screw down on and it sits on the bolt of the steering wheel and as you screw down on it the claws bring the wheel towards you untill it comes off.

Hope that helps and I havn't confused you.

They are not hard to get off, they just get stuck some time. But if you are going to pull it off with your hands make sure you leave the nut on the end of the bolt a good couple of terns or else it could come hard and fast and smack you in the head.

wow! thanks craz0! you sound like a man who has had a lot of experience removing steering wheels. i hope the last paragraph is not something that has happened to you! oh... by the way, how much does one of these things cost? i dont remove steering wheels that often nor do i intend on doing it for a living, so i dont want to invest big! oh, where bouts in cq are you from?

what I do is apply brute force, which smacked me on the head hard and I was probably knocked out for a min

but just slowly use your palm to hammer it out from the back, and it'll come off eventually, well the 2nd time that I've done it was much easier, probably the first time was a virgin and was too tight

    • The wideband reading is meaningless if it's not running. Why are you using shitty old sidefeeds on any engine, let alone a Neo? What manifold and fuel rail are you using to achieve that? Beyond that, can't help you with AEM stuff as I've never been their ECU/CAS combo.
    • Manual boost controllers (where a little of the boost was bled off) were quite common back in the day, because they were cheap and easy. Generally they had a manual adjustment screw rather than being fixed like yours. Down side is they always bleed boost, not just when you want them to so an electronic boost controller that uses a solenoid will have less lag.
    • Hello , im new here and i have A31 home build  RB25det neo stock eng / turbo  aem ems 2 blue connector  aem 3.5 map aem cas disk aem wideband connected to ecu  355 lph pump 550 nismo yellow injectors side feed aftermarket regulator  and won’t start with base aem tuner basic tune eventually flipped cas 180 degree so it triggers on correct stroke not in exhaust cycle  Now it won’t start Wideband reads 10 and 11 at lowest fuel setting  and will share calibrations soon for aem tuner i think something is wrong in aem tuner    please if you have any information, am very grateful
    • Legend. I ended up finding the facebook account of the owner of the first car i sent but sadly he deactivated the account. I think you’re right in saying it’s some sort of well done custom job. Really appreciate your help anyways.
    • Totally equivalent. Stock often goes from the comp cover because that's where the actuator is also installed and the factory needs 2" of hose to make the connection - and it comes as a pre-assembled unit. They totally have a boost reference from somewhere between the turbo and the throttle(s). Oh, jeez. Just do it in M12 then. We don't actually care that much. I would expect any such AN converter fitting to rely on an o-ring or some other seal onto a flat surface under the flange of the hex**, because bolt threads are no intended to provide a pressure seal. unlike..... pipe threads. **which also requires a suitably flat and smooth surface on the turbo's boss to provide the seal.
