hey all just picked up my r33 today and i have already found a couple problems with it. one of the main ones is this..

when im driving especially at low revs in a higher gear i put my foot down and i hear some grinding noise, from what i understand the most stress is put on the clutch when its in a high gear at low revs? so its making this weird ass noise that goes away one the revs pick up maybe 1000rpm. the higher the gear the worse the problem. doesnt feel like clutch is slipping at all.. to be honest it sounds like a monster turbo spooling up but its grinding instead of being smooth.. hard to explain

so does anyone have any ideas? possibly flywheel needs machining or clutch is on the way out???

2500rpm it goes away, doesnt happen in first, really slightly in second but the higher in gears the louder it gets

mechanic is coming on saturday to check it out

the car is pretty stock with only a kakimoto exhaust and BOV, but who knows what they done to it in japan

    • I know people cry at the price of the Getrag 12-14k for a conversion now, but it really is a nice mid point. Not going to get change from 10k on a gearset installed.  $30k++ for sequential.   I know you run the risk of a damaged used one and parts are hard to get but as a street car gearbox its really hard to beat. If you enjoy a more traditional manual, its the choice no question.
