hahaah thats exactly what i was thinking snowy - you're screwed if aaron got pinged.

Were there any other loudish cars there? I've heard some pretty loud alfas before.

And i think someones pulling your leg about a stroker kit.

1:53 is impressive Roy.. can't wait for PI next year.

Thanks Matt.

Actually it was a 1:52.8130 in practice.

Overall I think it was 3rd fastest for the day.

Once the sun came out, my rooted rear tyres couldn't handle the heat and I could only ever get within a few tenths.

BBGTR, what are you up to ? If I spent the big bucks on a stroker I'd be really disappointed not running a sub 1.40

The noise guy wasn't from the Alfa club. I think he works for the Island itself. Anyhow, they suck ass. It's a race track, not a suburban street.

:( I thought I saw your car at you know where with the engine out.

1.40 is fast, even with 3.1 litres. Time for a cage my friend.

See you at Calder for the twilight event.

Regards

Andrew

    • Assuming that they will come off without damage at all.... i would have thought just pull straight up off the spindle with a something or other than can reach underneath. Have you searched for youtube vids of people doing similar on R34s or any other Nissan from the same vintage? They should be the same technique, in all likelihhood.
    • Keeping in mind that sandblasting is really aggressive on softer metals like cast alloy, and you can do damage that you might regret. For trash wheels, not a problem. For wheels with value/scarcity issues, etc.... perhaps a less aggressive media is a better choice?
    • Don't get all high and mighty. Experienced spanner wielders know exactly what effort is required to release an Oof.
    • 2 weeks ago $240 cash. 200-300 per wheel is wild for sandblasting and can't see a wheel costing more then $100 per wheel to powder coat.
    • Yeah this confirms what I was thinking. Volks are worth a crap load more than my M Sport 17s and 2500 is nuts!  240 is crazy cheap, was this 20 years ago? I have a fairly good air compressor so I'm tempted to get an eBay sand blaster.
