hi guys,

i am about to buy an apexi power fc with hand controller off a mate, but i was just concerned about not getting all the wiers and things. So i was just wondering if someone could tell me what you get when you buy one brand new in a box. and also where would you go to get your power fc tunned in melbourne.

I'm currently running a re-mapped ECU in my R32 RB20DET

with mods:

GTR fuel pump

3' split dump/front pipe all the way out

R33 turbo

Trust front mount

Boost controller

Air pod

If i were to change to a Power FC and plug it straight in, would the base

map of the Power FC be better than a re-mapped ECU?

that's an impossible question to answer. it's like saying is my friends penis bigger than my penis? without knowing how big mine is, and how big his is how could you answer? so without knowing how good your current state of tune is, and without knowing how suited whatever map is in the PFC is to your combo no-one can answer. your current tune could be shithouse in which case the PFC may be better. or vice versa.

the stock maps arent designed to make more power or drive better

they are purely stock maps to give any one that installs it a safe and conservative tune, allowing them to drive to their dyno workshop and get it tuned correctly. it may make a bit more power, who knows, does it matter? probably not.

it wont hit rich and retard as that doesn't exist

driving on the stock maps is fine, and you can do so for a few days, weeks etc, its meant to be a conservative tune to suit most cars and conditions

    • haha don't worry I'm sue you've got more fun ahead buying a 30 year old turbo car....but at least you are in the right place to ask
    • some days eh? The keyless entry and interior light on/off with the key will be controlled by the Body Control Module, but I'm not certain where that is or what it looks like (you might get lucky with a search to get a part#, which could be printed on it). I'd start at the A pillar/ Under dash/kick panel on the driver's side
    • It might be hit and miss, but Nissan Genuine Parts and Pitworks are not the same thing, although both are available from Nissan Dealers with Nissan Part Numbers. Nissan Genuine Parts are the OEM stuff, Pitworks are their attempt to get people back from generic parts makers
    • I did end up getting it sorted, as GTSBoy said, there was a corroded connection and wire that needed to be replaced. I ended up taking out the light assembly, giving everything a good clean and re-soldered the old joints, and it came out good.
    • Wow, thanks for your help guys 🙏. I really appreciate it. Thanks @Rezz, if i fail finding any new or used, full or partial set of original Stage carpets i will come back to you for sure 😉 Explenation is right there, i just missed it 🤦‍♂️. Thanks for pointing out. @soviet_merlin in the meantime, I received a reply from nengun, and i quote: "Thanks for your message and interest in Nengun. KG4900 is for the full set of floor mats, while KG4911 is only the Driver's Floor Mat. FR, RH means Front Right Hand Side. All the Full Set options are now discontinued. However, the Driver's Floor Mat options are still available according to the latest information available to us. We do not know what the differences would be, but if you only want the one mat, we can certainly see what we can find out for you". Interesting. It seems they still have some "new old stock" that Duncan mentioned 🤔. I wonder if they can provide any photos......And i also just realized that amayama have G4900 sets. I'm tempted too.
