rofl. whats wrong with tilbrooks? my car hasnt been touched by any workshop yet though so....im just curious.

My mate had a few issues with them and his car on purchasing items from them and getting work done. the other thing is my car was Dyno'd by them a few years ago and came out with 210kw 510nm with no other changes apart from a few more kilomiters on the car i get it dyno'd on prob 1 yr old dyno and comes in with 189kw 480nm, Now i had been told about thier dyno before i got my car dyno'd and this just prooves it. I've also heard they just dyno for power, now, where i go now they have the complete opposite they are stockists for PowerFC and have a heap of data on file and the guy that does the dyno has his own 33 with PowerFC and they are top blokes, tell you everything done while you wait(if you want). So there is my little/big spill.

But hey I have been using Graham West Workshop and a guy there called Ashley, they have heaps of data for PowerFC, and just a good down to earth bunch of blokes. Got a couple of other mates getting work done there also! haven't heard back from them yet!

Got my car dyno'd there a little while ago, just a power run so ican't comment on tuning, but they did seem like a good bunch. Very much down to earth as you said.

who do we give our money to, u or directly to ur contact in jap? im assuming u. can you explain the fees again ie give an example.

    • I'm a fan of the JZX110, and the Aristo. Big cruiser cars, and with the factory cars, super comfortable and feel like you're driving an armchair! And the JZ motors are a pretty nice engine too, especially with some basic mods.   The import process, and the need to be able to trust people, and the fact there's so many scammers around is what ever puts me off wanting to go through that ordeal!
    • I don't care for these at all, but at least the underside looks straight and not rusty. A good basis for a long life. Many cars from Japan have been lifted with forklifts and f**ked almost irrepairably.
    • Yes, but it's not dumb or dodgy. You can build a perfectly good boost controller from a pressure reg, a relief valve (looks same same as a reg if all from Norgren or SMC, for example) and a check valve. I ran one for years. Only superceded with  EBC because I could get one for cheaps and wanted finer control.   THis mod is certainly not a sketchy boost mod, provided the boost is kept below the "spin to death" threshold of the turbos.
    • With ordering the belt, you're doing water pump and the idler and tensioner at the same time too yes?
    • This is just a dumb way of keeping the wastegate closed to make more boost. Undo it and either follow the factory setup or redo it properly. Manual boost controllers just use a spring preload to determine when to close in response to boost pressure so it no longer vents to atmosphere.
