Hey all,

Today i want to remove my brake calipers so i can re paint them.

I have removed the wheels already but before i start, i was wondering if anyone has a write up on how to remove the calipers?

How do i remove the brake like from the caliper withouth pissing brake fluid everywhere??

Surely there must be a trick.

On the back of the caliper there are 2 large bolts that look like they are holding the caliper onto the hub?

If anyone can help me id greatly appreciate it.

cheers

there's a tutorial in the DIY section on replacing the rotors on a R32 but I added a picture of behind where you are talking about of a R33. You can search by mu name in the DIY, shouldn't be many results.

Also, someone did a DIY ( i thik that section ) about painting the calipers.

They did not remove them from memory.

Just removed the wheel, covered everything with newspaper and tape and away they went.

Pics were included so again do a search for that.

To stop the fluid goi ng everywhere, you can clamp the line.

Keep in mind, if you remove the caliper, if you don't know what you're doing (doesn't sound liek you do), you won't have any brakes when you turn the car back on.

if you remove the caliper, you'll have to bleed the fluid.

haha nah mate, no ricey colours for me, simply painting them matt black.

Painting them red, yellow, blue looks shithouse i think. matt black is the way to go.

Might be easier for me to just paint them while they are still attached.

Lol ok good for you! I did the same but i chose satin black, nice touch to tidy them up. It is easy to mask up the rotor and surrounding area to paint them while on the car but you wont get quite as good job obviously.

Good luck :santa:
