Why is it so hard to sell a GTR? Its frustrating cause i don't really want to sell the car but i have no choice and have to, as I've only had it 6 months, yet people don't seem interested in them any more. Anyone got any suggestions for selling? Am i over priced (asking 35k, but willingto go less if someone was to offer it)? I know you'd have a hard time importing one (series 3)for under 30 grand, cause by the time you get it here and pay for all the extract stuff such as registration, new tyres, new Brake pads ($1600 a set for an R33!!!) these cheapy 28-29 grand ones on the mailing lists end up being 31k plus by the time you get all of this done.

keep at it man - eventually it will sell, but if you have to lower the price to sell it quickly, then thats all you can do. But imo - id keep it at the price it is now - its a very clean looking gtr, and someone will buy it.

the market has dropped heaps over this year.. but hey if ya have to sell it that bad drop price, otherwise id keep it aye, find another way of dealing with what ya have to.....

The price has dropped heaps. I've watched the price of gtrs.

s3 gtrs can be had for 27-28k landed (approximately) from jspec. Most of those gtrs even have some mods. Yours is almost bone stock.

I know it's hard to let your baby go for less than you paid for it, but you have to be realistic. It was way too expensive with the mods, and it's way too expensive without the mods.

Realistically, what price would you be willing to accept? When you say accepting offers above 30, would you accept 30?

Also, colour makes a difference. Black cars are worth more.

It looks like a very resonable car for the low $30's.

I recently bought a '95 GTR and I know when I was looking I was willing to pay a slight premium for a car with no mods. I know that might sounds a bit strange to some but my concern was that someone on a very tight budget would have modded the car and cut corners to keep the price down and subsequesnlty not maintained it as well. Most of the cars I saw that fit what I was looking for were at dealers and were running in the high 30's. I ended up getting a car from someone who bot it from a dealer 6 months ago and then then found out how expense insurance, gas, etc. was (he was 21 so insurance was very pricy for him).

Man this shits me, I'm yet to see a good condition Series 3 on any of the mailing lists with any number of mods for less than 30 grand. Don't forget mailing lists don't take into account brake pads which is $1800 for an R33 GTR or tyres - another $750 odd dollars. Chances are the car won't have an insurance approved alarm - another $600 and by the time you pay onroads there's another $800. Plus there usually other stuff, thankfully i didn't have any, like cleaning of car, replacing worn suspension bushes, and other things for usualy RWC. So already your up to over 31 grand and you've got to wait 3 months+ to get the car.

Also do you know the expense of returning a car to stock? You either need to buy the stock parts them selves - could be thousands worth or you could hire the parts from your compliance shop. I imported a highly modded (round 50 grand worth of parts!) Series 2 R33 GTS-t built by Top Secret about 2 years ago, land and complied (with out returning in to stock) I paid 23,500, however i then spent another $5500 returning to stock and i did the labour myself!!! Paying someone to do the labour would have meant several more thousands of dollars. Stock cars usually go for more in japan than slightly modded ones due to the slightly modded ones being in average condition (usually - hence the reason i bought a dead stock one).

I watched the auctions for a quite a while and found that most Series 3s go for over 2,500,000 yen, work that out in your mailing list calculator. then add all the little things i just listed above. Would be easily over 40 grand.

As for offers, if you a really interested in my car PM me with an offer and we'll discuss.

wow...i just looked at those pics of the gtr..u must have a good reason to sell that thing cause man id be holding on to that thing if i where you aye

Yes i do, my son was recently born and has a rare disorder so my wife can no longer return to work. Its not easy affording all the bills on one wage. Hence the reason why i have so much stuff for sale :P

Hey, I'm not here to start a fight with you. I'm just suggesting a possible reason why you're having trouble selling. I totally understand the position you're in having to sell your special car. I've been there done that.

The problem is, people don't see the value. e.g. you see it so often on that people are selling r33 gtsts, and you get people coming up and going i'll give you 13 for it. Some people really need to sell, so they let it go for a cheap price. then their mates hear from them that they got it for 13, and then they offer someone else 12.5. this is unavoidable.

I know yours isn't a gts, but the same principle applies. Cars just depreciate and that's it unforunately.

Also, people don't see the value in you buying parts to make the car stock. Think about it this way. they buy the car stock, and mod it. If it's stock they think oh, that's how it came, obviously you dind't have to byu the stuff. even if you had to buy the stock parts, they're cheap, and are only a portion of the money you got for selling your other bits.

also, about compliance, it really depends on where you get it done. For every car that i've imported, the compliance shop has let me used their parts for free.

I'm not interested in buying, just offering possible reason for why you haevn't had offers.

People are stupid

They see a imported one for 30k, and they see yours for 35k

Which one would you buy?

Most people are not smart enough to realise the costs associated, and hence go the cheaper option.

If you put the car up @ 33-32.5k, you might get a sniff

From the photos your car looks like a good example, and i were looking i'd buy it. Might have something to do with my current fetish for Silver cars with Black wheels....

Prices have drop a bit this year for R33's in general.... it just takes time to sell a performance car like a GTR... So you have 2 choices, just leave it at a reasonable price, say 35k and just wait it out... or just keep dropping the price until someone bites.... Unfortunately for you it seems like your situation will mean someone else is going to get an awesome deal.

You just need to be selling at the right time, less buyers for an R33 GTR than there are for say an SS commodore.

Where are you advertising? I would put it in your states performance car for sale mags, we have a couple here in Vic...

stick it in the auto trader magazine 1800655599. I just bought a copy, its a full color mag filled with ferraris, imports, boats, 4wds...everything from 5k to 500k, I believe they are affiliated to the tradingpost.

Another option would be to trade/swap it with something you are looking for...

Good luck!

Everyone wants something for nothing...

But the price has come down quite a bit in the last 12 months.

I bought my 33 about 18 months ago, i would guess it has depreciated about 5-8k since I bought it even with the mods I spent money on.

I would definately buy privately for my next car/bike. I bought from a dealership and STILL had to spent money on tires, brake pads, tune, bushes, A/C regas as they did not do these things which they were meant to.

Ive being trying to sell my R32 GTR for the past 6-8 months, advertised for $18500 still no luck.........i ve had a few people come look at the car. Last week christmas eve i had some guy come over looked at the car and offer me $16500, i refused the offer and counter offer him $17500 and i will need deposit by end of last week.Havent heard from him again so now playing the waiting game again.

One way to think about this situation is, think about the age group that would drive import 18-24.

Then think about the people who can acatully afford to buy one and maintain it. Not many people in that age group would have 20grand + to spend on a car you get the occasion older people that might be interested, hence why Gtrs, Supras and other import that are priced at 20 grand + are much hader and take longer to sell.

thats one of my theories.

    • Well, apparently they do fit, however this wont be a problem if not because the car will be stationary while i do the suspension work. I was just going to use the 16's to roll the old girl around if I needed to. I just need to get the E90 back on the road first. Yes! I'm a believer! 🙌 So, I contacted them because the site kinda sucks and I was really confused about what I'd need. They put together a package for me and because I was spraying all the seat surfaces and not doing spot fixes I decided not to send them a headrest to colour match, I just used their colour on file (and it was spot on).  I got some heavy duty cleaner, 1L of colour, a small bottle of dye hardener and a small bottle of the dye top coat. I also got a spray gun as I needed a larger nozzle than the gun I had and it was only $40 extra. From memory the total was ~$450 ish. Its not cheap but the result is awesome. They did add repair bits and pieces to the quote originally and the cost came down significantly when I said I didn't need any repair products. I did it over a weekend. The only issues I had were my own; I forgot to mix the hardener into the dye two coats but I had enough dye for 2 more coats with the hardener. I also just used up all the dye because why not and i rushed the last coat which gave me some runs. Thankfully the runs are under the headrests. The gun pattern wasn't great, very round and would have been better if it was a line. It made it a little tricky to get consistent coverage and I think having done the extra coats probably helped conceal any coverage issues. I contacted them again a few months later so I could get our X5 done (who the f**k thought white leather was a good idea for a family car?!) and they said they had some training to do in Sydney and I could get a reduced rate on the leather fix in the X5 if I let them demo their product on our car. So I agreed. When I took Bec in the E39 to pick it up, I showed them the job I'd done in my car and they were all (students included) really impressed. Note that they said the runs I created could be fixed easily at the time with a brush or an air compressor gun. So, now with the two cars done I can absolutely recommend Colourlock.  I'll take pics of both interiors and create a new thread.
    • Power is fed to the ECU when the ignition switch is switched to IGN, at terminal 58. That same wire also connects to the ECCS relay to provide both the coil power and the contact side. When the ECU sees power at 58 it switches 16 to earth, which pulls the ECCS relay on, which feeds main power into the ECU and also to a bunch of other things. None of this is directly involved in the fuel pump - it just has to happen first. The ECU will pull terminal 18 to earth when it wants the fuel pump to run. This allows the fuel pump relay to pull in, which switches power on into the rest of the fuel pump control equipment. The fuel pump control regulator is controlled from terminal 104 on the ECU and is switched high or low depending on whether the ECU thinks the pump needs to run high or low. (I don't know which way around that is, and it really doesn't matter right now). The fuel pump control reg is really just a resistor that controls how the power through the pump goes to earth. Either straight to earth, or via the resistor. This part doesn't matter much to us today. The power to the fuel pump relay comes from one of the switched wires from the IGN switch and fusebox that is not shown off to the left of this page. That power runs the fuel pump relay coil and a number of other engine peripherals. Those peripherals don't really matter. All that matters is that there should be power available at the relay when the key is in the right position. At least - I think it's switched. If it's not switched, then power will be there all the time. Either way, if you don't have power there when you need it (ie, key on) then it won't work. The input-output switching side of the relay gains its power from a line similar (but not the same as) the one that feeds the ECU. SO I presume that is switched. Again, if there is not power there when you need it, then you have to look upstream. And... the upshot of all that? There is no "ground" at the fuel pump relay. Where you say: and say that pin 1 Black/Pink is ground, that is not true. The ECU trigger is AF73, is black/pink, and is the "ground". When the ECU says it is. The Blue/White wire is the "constant" 12V to power the relay's coil. And when I say "constant", I mean it may well only be on when the key is on. As I said above. So, when the ECU says not to be running the pump (which is any time after about 3s of switching on, with no crank signal or engine speed yet), then you should see 12V at both 1 and 2. Because the 12V will be all the way up to the ECU terminal 18, waiting to be switched to ground. When the ECU switches the fuel pump on, then AF73 should go to ~0V, having been switched to ground and the voltage drop now occurring over the relay coil. 3 & 5 are easy. 5 is the other "constant" 12V, that may or may not be constant but will very much want to be there when the key is on. Same as above. 3 goes to the pump. There should never be 12V visible at 3 unless the relay is pulled in. As to where the immobiliser might have been spliced into all this.... It will either have to be on wire AF70 or AF71, whichever is most accessible near the alarm. Given that all those wires run from the engine bay fusebox or the ECU, via the driver's area to the rear of the car, it could really be either. AF70 will be the same colour from the appropriate fuse all the way to the pump. If it has been cut and is dangling, you should be able to see that  in that area somewhere. Same with AF71.   You really should be able to force the pump to run. Just jump 12V onto AF72 and it should go. That will prove that the pump itself is willing to go along with you when you sort out the upstream. You really should be able to force the fuel pump relay on. Just short AF73 to earth when the key is on. If the pump runs, then the relay is fine, and all the power up to both inputs on the relay is fine. If it doesn't run (and given that you checked the relay itself actually works) then one or both of AF70 and AF71 are not bringing power to the game.
    • @PranK can you elaborate further on the Colorlock Dye? The website has a lot of options. I'm sure you've done all the research. I have old genuine leather seats that I have bought various refurbing creams and such, but never a dye. Any info on how long it lasts? Does it wash out? Is it a hassle? What product do I actually need? Am I just buying this kit and following the steps the page advises or something else? https://www.colourlockaustralia.com.au/colourlock-leather-repair-kit-dye.html
    • These going to fit over the big brakes? I'd be reeeeeeeeaaaall hesitant to believe so.
    • The leather work properly stunned me. Again, I am thankful that the leather was in such good condition. I'm not sure what the indent is at the top of the passenger seat. Like somebody was sitting in it with a golf ball between their shoulders. The wheels are more grey than silver now and missing a lot of gloss.  Here's one with nice silver wheels.
