hey guys , after a couple of days of hard work and some colour decision , iv finally finished doing my dash .

key element was time and patience , and its a major difference. iv done other sprays on other dash console's in the past but this really takes the cake. the difference is so suprising.

on my travels i did :

3 coats of primer

3 coats of metallic charcole

and about 4 coats of clear enamel

probably thinking sounds like a lot of coats but - the finish is nice and hard , i made a sample peace along whilist spraying all the others , and once all coats were conplete , i tried scratching paint off and denting it , and it wouldnt budge . the finish remains hard.

here are some pics , if any one needs and info or help PM - id be willing to help . cheers hope you like

nice, very subtle, I like it. I've seen lots of people pain dash trim brightly, like blue, pink, silver, green and to be honest I thought they all looked like arse. yours looks nice though. ;)

Yer i dunno bout the eye lids lol was trying to convince myself to lik the but yer dunno. i lik wot u did wid ur bumper indicators making them white! how did u go about that?

So u have the standered front wid a lip and what side skirts and rear bumper do u have?

Cant wait to c the pics hope it all works out for u

i tried calling around to get the correct paint to match my car - but i know its cheaper doing it the way i did it. also i didnt want it to be to bright , iv seen a lot of cars with crazy dash colours - particulary white - red - blue . all bright fluro type , and they peal and shit . it truelly ruins a good car - especially a skyline . i was persistant to do an amazing job , im truelly happy with the finish , at night it remains un noticable and in the day it sparkles like crazy .

Oh good job!!!

I did the shifter, ashtray, and coin-area in a glossy black... Looks pretty sweet. (MUCH better than the rough stock finish), but I didn't use primer. The paint I bought bonded with plastics, and it came out shiny but strong. It doesn't scratch or dent either.

The only problem with that was the ashtray and shifter surround turned out two slightly different shades of black! I guess primer is really the go for getting matching colours.

So... two things you might be able to help me with:

1) Could you put up the steps and times?

e.g: first coat, wait 15 minutes, sand

second coat, wait 15...

Did you sand between primer coats?

2) How on earth do you gracefully get the pocket out of the drivers armrest? I replaced it once, and getting the broken one out was easily done by breaking it some more, and the new one slides and clips in easily... getting a good one out in one piece isn't so easy!

thanks for appreciation ! :)

my steps were :

1/ i did 3 coats with primer . i aloud the primer to dry approx an hr between each coat . a further hr before the coloured finish

2/ the colour finish can be applied in sections of 1 hr aswell . but you need to let it have a full dry overnight for 24 hrs .

3/ the clear enamel - gloss is the last set of coats , you need to leave it for 1 hr between coats - i did 4 final coats . but what i did was, do 2 coats , 1 hr between each , and let dry over night , and do the same - that way it dries hard .

and it makes a big difference to those who rush , and do 1 coat of primer / 1 coat of colour and 1 coat of gloss . it peals in the heat n just looks shit . if you take your time - you will definitly be satisfied .

as for the driver side arm rest , i think they are made to clip in and stay in sadly ! , but what i did was , if you look on the underside whilist it is positioned in . you will see 2 small clips to one long side , pop it out on an angle ! on one of the small sides there is a deep clip which needs to be push back as far as possible , then you have to snap the small side out of place . however it may snap , but it doesnt matter because it still clips in well with out any trouble .

thanks ,

i AM ACTUALLY THINKING OF DOING THIS TO THE R32, AS i JUST GOT SOME NICE LEATHER GEAR AND GEAR BOOTS OFF e-BAY !

NOW IT MAKES THE REST OF THE CAR LOOK DULL !!!!

dID YOU PREP THE SURFACE BEFORE USING THE PRIMER ? did you sand or clean with metho or just spray it all on ????

nice job by the way, Im planning on white I know you all think thats shit but your not driving my car are you.

Cheers

Dave

okay for ever one that is going to give this a shot - i sanded the hard surface with 400 gritt . and cleaned the surface with thinners .

SANDING is the most crucial part if you want a smooth gloss surface

i didnt sand between coats only before priming , cause it was unecessary. unless u have inperfections . i ended up doing 1 coat of metalic again because there was a fragment of shit on it lol.

in the midst of doing the same thing, that color looks awesome so used the same. i didnt prime it though, just a spray through as i didnt need to sand much other than the gear knob surround,

but applied 2 coats of color and 3 of clear

will post pics once the clear dries and i slap it back in the car

    • Hi from Canada, Both of my calipers are starting to fail. My car is a 2005 M35 Stagea ARX and I can't seem to find any parts or any cross reference caliper that would fit my car. Is there a company or a similar caliper that would fit and I could replace the OEM one. Or if anyone knows where I can find a new OEM. Any help is very appreciated. Let me know!
    • Maf is a question mark but TPS  I have set at 0.47, the fact that I’m getting proper voltage range out of it with the key on leads me to believe it’s functioning properly. I’m getting proper voltages on basically everything. I still need to look up voltage ranges for z32 maf and test that
    • Honestly no not at all, but it’s a very basic tune, it’s stock injectors q45 tps and z32 maf. Other than that it’s a completely stock base map. The file is from nistune and from my understanding if it was tune related I would be able to unplug maf and tps and it would still start even if it was a really shitty start. I have tried starting it with coolant temp, maf, and tps unplugged none of those 3 togethor or individually changes anything

    • What does it look like with highway driving? And yes, I had a similar thought as Duncan. It looks quite similar in my Stagea and I have made myself accept it as normal. Might have to look into it some day   Highway gets as low as 10l/100km on my end so I'm not as worried about it being a mechanical issue. More likely just the tune on the haltech.
