Okay people calling all R32 GTR owners

who has actually upgraded thier front brakes

specifically has anyone used their orginal r32 GTR calipers

with the larger Vspec rotor off the R33 GTR Vspec???

Unique Auto Sports have a bracket made up for this upgrade

Is it any good

What results have you guys seen if any???

Thanks in advance eveyone

p.s. i bought a bracket from roguepi on the nissan silvia forums great bracket if he had supplied me the right one so i need to find the right bracket now

so if any one wants to put vpec rotors(324mm) on the r32 GTST or S14 or S15 or 300ZX i have a bracket for you guys that i cant use and he wont swap for the right one Phew

I was going to upgrade the brakes in my 32GTR a while back but the cost of the callipers{brembro} was shall we say $$$ {best price I could get $3500 including second hand disc's} the big thing there was SECOND HAND . Instead I opted for DBA gold series disc's alround and pads which cost $2200 fitted.

Yes it would of been nice to almost be V spec but look at it this way. 40,000k later needed new pads only but if I went brembo option I probably would of needed new pads and disc's by now. I heard you get about 30,000 out of brembo disc's {correct me if Im wrong}

The DBA series disc's are cross drilled and slotted by the way and work fine.

Hope this helps anyway :P

Dennis,

I was investigating the UAS brake upgrade over a year ago and after a fair bit of research I decided not to go with it. I can't remember all of the reasons now but I know there was brake pad overhang and I ended up in WRX forums, reading alot of posts by Sydneykid and others in the braking and suspension section (just noticed you posted there).

In the end I ordered standard size DBA 4000 slotted rotors, Ferodo DS2500 pads & Castrol SRF brake fluid. I had already put on new braided brake lines when I first brought the GTR into Australia. I still use the standard calipers. This setup improved the braking performance of my GTR alot but my coilovers seized the very night I picked up the car and went on a SAU cruise up near Gawler. So there was another fair gap before it was on the road again.

My R32 GTR has the Standard Calipers with different rotors. Not 100% sure what the rotors are but it seems to work well. Only problem Is it is real heavy on pads, and the cars is a country car so the brakes don't get used as much as a city car.

Yep, me too... I have standard callipers with slotted DBA rotors and pads of unknown origin... works like a charm, stops much harder than my old GTS-t which used the same callipers!

it's a rip off

the Ferreri F50 Brembo front brake kit is about $3000 (calipers, 355 2 piece rotors, pads, brake line) brand new in Japan

even you add postage and tax it won't cost more than 4g

I wont say which workshop quoted me then but if you want to know who I dont let see my hard earned dollar's anymore.just pm me and I will tell you . Big name workshop too.

Dennis,

Mate, you know what I've got on the beast - but for the benefit of others reading this thread I'll whack in a pic. btw - these brakes are outstanding, they have a much better feel than the standard brakes when cold, and when they get some temp into them they'll stand you up out of your seat!!! nb - no fade or pedal feel change at Mallala even with 210+ terminal speeds across the back straight..............oh and with $8 brake fliud (don't ask..............)!!!!!!

Challenge to all: Anyone recognise the brand of the coilovers in the beast?

Andrew,

Nice way to show off, i like it, remember though those brakes and rotors are from a GtsT so are 280mm

so they look extra impressive HEY though forget them the AP set up is awesome and they work just the same , when we are out on a cruz i must go shot gun for a bit, feel the stopping power hey

I would still like to see how write off goes with the UAS bracket and vspec rotors

Cheers people

Dennis

Nah Mike buy your 34 GTR and then ill be impressed LOL

Was considering the change to 33 rotors for my 32 as well, rotors will need changing soon so good time to do it, was wondering if any changes to master cylinders etc was required. If using the stock calipers I would think not, can anyone confirm this.

To those who have upgraded calipers, did u have to address the master cylinder/Booster etc or wasnt it an issue?

JIC's??

I asked RaceBrakes the other day about replacing the lines with braided but they seem to think that the special type are not available?

Something about 2 braided piece with metal middle?

I have DBA slotted already and good pads wyhich are a great improvement but would like braided lines.

Any hints?

PS GTS4 - sim GTR.

    • What are we supposed to be seeing in the photo of the steering angle sensor? The outer housing doesn't turn, right? All the action is on the inside. The real test here is whether or not your car has had the steering put back together by a butcher. When the steering is centred (and we're not caring about the wheel too much here, we're talking about the front wheels, parallel, facing front) then you should have an absolutely even number of turns from centre to left lock and centre to right lock. If there is any difference at all then perhaps the thing has been put back together wrongly, either the steering wheel put on one spline (or more!) off, and the alignment bodged to straighteb the wheel, or the opposite where something silly was done underneath and the wheel put back on crooked to compensate. Nut there isn't actually much evidence that you have such a problem anyway. It is something you can easily measure and test for to find out though. My money is still on the HICAS CU not driving the PS solenoid with the proper PWM signal required to lighten the load at lower speed. If it were me, I would be putting either a multimeter or oscilloscope onto the solenoid terminals and taking it for a drive, looking for the voltage to change. The PWM signal is 0v, 12V, 0V, 12v with ...obviously...modulated pulse width. You should see that as an average voltage somewhere between 0V and 12V, and it should vary with speed. An handheld oscilloscope would be the better tool for this, because they are definitely good enough but there's no telling if any cheap shit multimeter that people have lying around are good enough. You can also directly interfere with the solenoid. If you wire up a little voltage divider with variable resistor on it, and hook the PS solenoid direct to 12V through that, you can manually adjust the voltage to the solenoid and you should be able to make it go ligheter and heavier. If you cannot, then the problem is either the solenoid itself dead, or your description of the steering being "tight" (which I have just been assuming you mean "heavy") could be that you have a mechanical problem in the steering and there is heaps of resistance to movement.
    • Little update  I have shimmed the solenoid on the rack today following Keep it Reets video on YouTube. However my steering is still tight. I have this showing on Nisscan, my steering angle sensor was the closest to 0 degrees (I could get it to 0 degrees by small little tweaks, but the angle was way off centre? I can't figure this out for the life of me. I get no faults through Nisscan.
    • The BES920 is like the Toyota Camrys of coffee machines. E61 group head is cool, however the time requirements for home use makes it less desirable. The Toyota Camry coffee machine runs twin boilers and also PID temp control, some say it produces coffees as good as an E61 group head machine.
    • And yes with a full tank it will hit limiter free revving or driving 6B6CDF6E-4094-426D-A9CB-6C553475FE36.mp4
    • One way of putting the fuel surge idea to rest, is that even when in neutral/clutch in or free revving it still has the same issue, it can’t even get to limiter (7800) so to me that says it can’t be g force, I’m not trying to argue I just want to find the f&$king issue 😡
