Hi there SAU members my 32 has developed an annoying missfire dosent happen all the time just every now and then but what a pain in the arse started again today ,so far ive had the coils checked and they seem fine ,no backfiring at all ,it mainly happens when you back off after driving at about 3000rpm and slow down just to cruise (i know 3000rpm is just cruising but just putting by if you know what i mean)anyway i was told it could be dirty injectors but so i put two lots of injector cleaner through it in the last 2 tanks to no avail, could it be the fuel pump or fuel filter im at a loss atm, send me you thoughts on what it could be please i'll try anything that wont cost anything to much LOL, thanks guys

get some new plugs and gap them to about .7mm

should do the trick...

ps, dont buy iridiums just get standards from repco or similar

I had similar issues, infact - still freakin do!

car was spluttering and extremely laggy on gear changes, had 7 runs at WSID and all did 14.7

got plugs changed, car felt so much stronger, no spluttrering or anything on gear changes or when backing off.

but now, car is running like shit again, a few ppl think maybe my car is running a bit too rich and fowling the plugs causing it.

so im not happy yet again.

I'm currently getting my R32 GTR's ECU chipped and retuned because it was running far too rich. It had a mine's ECU in it and it probably was in it when it was shipped over from japan. The spark plugs started to foul up after I drive it for some time. Especially once the engine becomes warm the stuttering and misfiring became worse. When I drove it to the mechanic it got to the point where I really didn't want to push it above 3 grand cause it was spluttering and misfiring like mad. I figure due to auto choke it doesn't misfire when it's cold. I think replacing the spark plugs is a short term fix and the best thing to do to get peace of mind is take it to a decent mechanic who can suss these things out. I first took it to a mechanic who spent alot of time looking at AFM's, intercooler piping etc. He was adamant it was one of the AFM's but he didn't even check the coil packs and spark plugs.

oh and also my cat converter was clogged due to all the unburnt fuel causing the engine to not run optimally as it was forcing against all the built up crud.

Either way, it could be any of the things I've listed above or a combination. Either way it'll just frustrate you as it did me, until you grab your shovel :) for you money pit and take it into a mechanic..... unless you can retune an ECU by yourself! If you can let me know! :P

good luck ;)

yeah i think your right i do need a bit of luck LOL ,my brother in law is a very good mechanic and told me when it first started to happen that it couldnt be the injectors its more than likely a engine managment system problem and after hearing a few of the problems you other guys stated think i'll change the plugs today just to see what happens , would like to get it put on a dyno for a proper tune but there isnt one around here for at least 100k's so thats a bit of a problem but anyway lets see what happens with those plugs!

    • Absolute f*cking nightmare. I had to take breaks constantly, and I was always pissed off when I got home. The line split in Italy on day 2 (we drove from the Netherlands), lol. Driving any narrow European town was... well, sh*t.   Appreciate it man. Here, I'll just drop a favourite from the load I took on Saturday.   I'll update here when things happen with the car, the thing is, with stock power and almost everything chassis-wise taken care of, there really are no problems. 268,000kms now and counting.
    • Ah! I actually managed to snag a lightly used set.... that aren't so suitable for me right now. They don't work on a GTT without some cutting or creative heat moulding. I thought about reselling them myself cause I didn't want to murder them, but it looks like I'm probably going to attempt to murder them/melt them because I may as well. @GTSBoy @PranK can somebody close this thread?
    • Hey mate,  I have a set, one is slightly damaged but wont be noticable once installed.  Shoot me a message if your still after them
    • I couldn't wait But, the black constant tension hose clamps were too thick and there wasn't enough clearance at the T/B and I couldn't get it to seat properly, so I had use a silver one there I also added some 3" silicone over the alloy bit that goes through to hole on the radiator support as it looked like it was sitting on the edge of the hole in the radiator support, I never noticed a rattle or anything, but there was a witness mark It is basicly done, and I can live with the silver hose clamp at the T/B, I will get a black clamp for the head vent though where it is attached to the bulkhead fitting  It never stops...LOL, only issue now with the shock tower brace is it slightly touches the under bonnet liner now, if I leave it it will either wear some paint off the brace where it touches, or damage the liner, so I removed the liner to see what I have to work with, with the liner removed I have about 20mm of clearance, but sadly the middle part of the underside of the bonnet is only dusted with paint and looks crap, so I cannot have that, but.... as I have a roll of Carbuilders premium under bonnet insulation in the garage laying around that is only 5.5mm thick (we were going to use it on the boys Patrol, but he crashed the front of it a few months and it was written off, hence why he now drives my old Honda Accord Euro), I'll use the OEM liner as a template and get the Carbuilders stuff fitted up to cover that dusted paint up
