Is an after market chip really that good of a bang for your buck mod on a resonabley stock car ? Cause I'm looking at getting a FMIC in the very near future (as well as getting my brakes done, machined and new pads) and then upping the boost a bit with a bleed valve. Then hopefully getting the dump pipe/front pipe done with a 3 1/4|1/2 depending on how much moneys left over.

The 32 ECU's are remapable (to a certain degree) aren't they ? Cause I read in Zoom a while ago, with a fuel pump, boost valve (to 14 psi though) and a remap they got 160rwkw on a stock 32gts-t.

Do you think a PFC for $2000 would be the best dollars spent though ? Currently all i've got as far as power performance is a catback zorst. Getting a bleeder shortly though.

I'm doing work on ecu's atm on r32's using an s-afc as well I need some dyno time to see how it goes the best bang for your buck mod you could do is to bolt the turbo from a vg 30 or an rb25 and you will make 170 rwkw hp at least at around 10-12 psi but I'd get a bigger fuel pump as well and a bigger fmic you don't need to spend 2k on an fmic if you only going to chase 170-180 rwkw you just need something bigger than what you have.

a s/hand one will do.

meggala

Well I'm looking at getting a FMIC at the minute, i'm looking at getting a decent sized cooler as i'm looking at around 200rwkw in the future. So I don't want to have to do it again. I will be looking at getting a VG30 turbo in the next round of semi/major mods. Probably with a fuel pump in between.

bump that - get a T04, thats what i am probably gunna do. :P

I am getting my S-AFC soon too, can't wait!! :P

Then i will tune for 12psi and i should be getting ~180rwkw (I am gettin 162rwkw now on 9psi with no S-AFC).

and

NOZILR!!

OK guys - that's really good feedback -

i can see merit in FMIC and boost contoller straight up. Gives colder (more dense) air and more boost (without detination right ??) Then ECU 'cause factory one is Shiet. I wanna know what dump pipe is, and what is the benefit ?? Then, bigger turbo (makes sense - more O2) After that you need more fuel right - ECU can only do so much so injectors need to be bigger right ??

Has anyone done a short shifter mod ?? Don't know how much benefit on the 1/4 it would be, but sounds like FUN.

PRANK - is there a local shop to Nth Beaches ??? Where do you go ??

OH - BTW - U F'd up my compliance papers to Canberra - sent copies instead of originals - LET IT BE KNOWN -they only accept originals - Have to make up the StfUp by lot of Canberra brown nosing. Hopefull I will have BEAST on the road by late AUG.

Cheers All.

i like ndr's home-made catch can haha..

No sorry Ryan,,,A catch tank is just a remote oil breather tank that stops oil mist from re-entering the inlet side of things.......Nothing to to do with a Bov at all..........

Dump Pipe is the first part of the exhaust off the turbo - they make a big difference when you get an after market one.. i have a 3 1/4" dump pipe (HPC coated - this lowers the heat emmitted from the dump pipe and keeps engine bay temps down..)

There are some shops, but i take mine to my mate in Castle Hill - Hills Motorsports, he has done everything to my car so far and knows his ****, a few people from the boards take to him.

Thats a bummer dude - how much longer will this cause it to be?

Christian

Hopefully, I can fix before the car arrives - Will be moving heaven and earth to make it happen -

I work in Castle Hill - So maybe Hills is the go - Have been looking at UAS, but yeah,,,,

Cheers dude,

So dump pipe is like a BIG exhaust manifold ??? Like headers ??? Am i on the right track ??? Lets gas out quicker than standard ???/

    • If they can dyno them, get them dyno'd, make sure they're not leaking, and if they look okay on the dyno and are performing relatively well, put them in the car.   If they're leaking oil etc, and you feel so inclined, open them up yourself and see what you can do to fix it. The main thing you're trying to do is replace the parts that perish, like seals. You're not attempting to change the valving. You might even be able to find somewhere that has the Tein parts/rebuild kit if you dig hard.
    • Can you also make sure the invoices on the box (And none exist in the boxes) are below our import duty limits... I jest, there's nothing I need to actually purchase and order in. (Unless you can find me a rear diff carrier, brand new, for stupidly cheap, that is for a Toyota Landcruiser, HZJ105R GXL, 2000 year model...)
    • Murphy strikes again! Nothing at all would have gone wrong if you had the tool kit in the car! You'd have just found the clamp loose the next time you went to touch it...
    • I have been being VERY quiet about what you're alluding to, as it is something that ticks me off... The number of cars from factory that run coil overs is HUGE! Most of them these days do... The other part that annoys me, is people saying "Well all the incabin adjustable suspension is illegal by blah blah blah"... If that's the case, then why can I buy a car brand new that can do it if, FULL STOP in cabin adjustable suspension is illegal...   Also, I could just chuck some aftermarket shocks in my car, throw the stock springs on, after my blue slip, dump my super low springs back in. Same shock and spring style setup... Hell, they could also be the same colour springs etc.     I'm voting, BlueSlipper didn't want to touch the above car for some reason. Whether it be some sort of bias against the car, the owner, them maybe having previously done dodgy shit and now they're being super careful in case they get slapped in the face by the Gumbyment again... Find a new blueslip place.   And can confirm as you had said, yes there are holy bibles of vehicle heights, and all sorts of other suspension stuff. Heck your run of the mill mechanic, and tyre shop has access to all of that stuff. It's how they do wheel alignments...
    • Funny story Heading to Sydney this morning on the HWY there was some slow traffic, so I gave it the beans and midway through my overtaking "power run" I lost all power It seems that I missed a hose clamp,  and the MAF and filter went WiFi To make this more problematic, the little tool kit that lives in the boot, is sitting in the sun room at Goulburn......LOL Luckily for me I found a bit of steel on the side of the road that could be used like a rusty and bent flat head screw driver to tighten it up enough that it got me into Sydney, it is now all tight like a tiger with the aid of a 8mm socket Note to self: Use my brain and double check stuff, and always keep that little tool kit in the car for when I have a brain fart
