Have owned a mint r33 gtr vspec for 6 mths . Imported it from the Japan.

Has a full weldina cruising exhaust system from the turbos,400r nismo body kit. nismo gauges ,turbo timer and a few other visual enhancements. I put a KN panel filter and some LMGT1 18x10 +20 wheels with falken 275/35 tyres.

Changed all the oil for redline .The car goes really well as it should at 38k k on the odometer.

The engine is in GC with good even compression on all six cylinders.

I want to increase power to around 300kw and would like it to be very responsive . not interested in bulk power.

From my research on turbos it appears that either garrett 2860Rs (HKS gtss)

or trust T517z 8.0cm2 are good torque monsters. The gtss are double roller bearings and water cooled and the trust jobs are sleeve brgs and not water cooled. I think the trust jobs come on faster though. From what everyone says.

Would like to fit a apexi power fc with the boost controller kit as well which is self learning.

Also want to fit new cam pulleys ,crank pulley and tensioner rollers with a stronger toda belt , so as to guarantee the drive train.

Want to leave interior stock apart from the FC controller I do not want any extra gauges.

Dont do burn outs just fast windy roads. Would the clutch last?.

This is not a everyday driver just my obsessional toy. (top grammar)

I would really appreciate any input on this and welcome any suggestions

before I commit coin.

Regards micov

:)

pfc+hc

cam gears in,ex

dumps/fronts

600cc tomei squirters

044 pump

+more just cant think.

will easy get 300kw with this setup i hope.aim is 320awkw so time will tell.

there is also already a thread on these to turbos and well,by far are the 2860r-5 a better turbo for good power and response. check it out.

ps any pics of this mint gtr

Its good that you dont do burnouts, they are pretty hard to do in a 33gtr :)

Since you havent mentioned the clutch it could be assumed its stock? If so you could try your luck but definitly budget for an upgrade. It may already be an upgrade item your not aware of.

Sounds like you have a pretty good plan. I doubt you could go wrong with any of your choices of turbos, you just have to choose. People will tell you pro's and cons about each of them, but i have also heard that the trust's are awesome and are capable of more top end should you ever get bored.

As in gun32's post, dont forget the fuel system.

400R rear looks great! be sure to post your decisions and results.

Looks as though you have some fine cars especially the rb28. keep us all posted on it.

Would'nt mind buying a clapped out r33 gtr for a project .

just bought PFC,HC and optional boost controller from Nengun $1200 delivered , hope to fit in 2 weeks

so I,ll let you know how it goes. then I can gradually build it up bit by bit sensibly and end up with a reliable beast. That way my lovely wife wont notice heh heh. :)

Finally fitted PFC with boost controller and a twin plate nismo coppermix clutch. Old one shagged.

Getting around 220kw at rears I think (tuned with 4wd dyna pack)

Only thing left is the diffs anyone recommend good LSDs 1.5 way or 2 way I am a bit dim on this subject could someone please enlighten me

Also want a well fitted roll cage anyone know of any.

Beerbaron and Blitz you guys seem very knowledgeable.

Spent a shitload of coin on this car but it is worth it .

My aim is to compete in the dutton rally and other similar events not drags.( they are a drag)

Will post results

Hey also off the subject whats the go with the 10% warning below my avatar Admin guys.

Heh heh lots of views but no comments

As I said before this site is starting to get a bit too clicky for me

There are some very knowledgeable people on this site

But too many dyno pullers (fantasy land) who pour over dyno sheets and rave about boost pressures when its all about flow first .

Then you get awkw rwkw jockeys BHP is the one on a real dyno or hub dynos (dynapack) Been a hands on mechanical engineer all my life and drive train losses are minimal. ie less than 15%

I am having my car built for response, reliability and endurance for weekend racing but should easily do a low 11 should I want too.

Joined a Japanese site and are these people friendly .My language skills are improving.

Must be an underarm Australian thing (Go K1W1) .

Well a lot of info is already on the forums.

When people comment on the same topic 6+ times, they tend not to do so after a while.

Especially when a topic like GTR/Turbos is so common.

Also you havent really asked any direct questions in the last few posts, more comments... and the questions you do ask, are better suited to other sections where the experts in those areas are looking more often :P

Mabye you should read my post properly Nismoid. I was asking about the in and outs of the different types of differentials as I am not to au fei with them and want more knowledge on the best types for track racing.

Have not asked about turbos for a while as The T517z 8cm are the ones that are going on my engine ( as we speak) Although it would be nice to hear from anyone with these turbos on a tomei stroker.

Just seems to me that you have to sling some shite to get a response on this site.

But I will definitely check out the Drive train section Nismoid

    • This sounds like a perfect excuse to install a Haltech R3.
    • I do believe from context he is talking about a S0/S1 R33 RB25 with associated ECU and Wiring for that, and a manual gearbox into a R34 N/A Auto. I don't have the knowledge of all the pinouts and such but my gut feeling from doing my own conversion is to use as much of the R33 stuff that you can. The "car" wiring is quite seperate from the "Engine" wiring when all things are considered. The only things to truly consider 99% of the time is the cluster, reverse lights and potentially disabling the 'not in P/N' immobilizer circuit.
    • A realistic expectattion of how long it has to last also comes down to.... when do you think you will be banned from registering and driving old petrol powered shitters? It's 27 years since that thing was built. It probably rusted out 15 years ago. It was probably repaired and looked OK for another 10. If you do a similarish bodge job now, or perhaps slightly better with some actual rust conversion and glassing, then.... get another 10-15 years out of it, after which you'll only be permitted by the CCP to drive electric cars manufactured in their Shenzen zone anyway.
    • Let me assume that the concern over a manual ECU is that the NeoDET that you have was an auto and has an auto ECU. That ECU will not be a problem, but you WILL have to Nistune it. And you would have to Nistune it even if you had a manual ECU, because the turbo ECUs will shit the bed if they do not have all the things that they were told they have to have, to be happy. The big one being the TCS CU, which you won't have in your car. Anyway, with an auto ECU (which I have running my originally auto NeoDET in an R32) Nistune allows you to put in a Stagea image which doesn't panic about the absent TCS, and allows you to override a whle bunch of other annoyances that would otherwise see the check engine light on 100% of the time. Also, you can't wind up the power very far on the stock NeoDET ECUs without Nistune, because the boost sensor gets in the way. Nistune allows you to push that problem much further up the dial. Do you even have the boost sensor with the engine? Without it, you are SOL and will need an aftermarket ECU (or to find a sensor somewhere, god knows where). I can't tell you what the wiring loom differences are in a 34. But what Duncan said above needs to be considered. When you say "loom", does that include the transmission loom? Because you will need to swap out the auto tranny loom for the equivalent manual loom, and get rid of the neutral/park start interlock (basically hot wire it).
    • I have had the r3c in for years now, maybe close to 7 years and it has never missed a beat, anyone can drive it. Super easy to drive around town, the hotter it gets does get a little hard but it holds the power easy as
