Of course beemers will keep their value cos too many wankers want them.

If no-one wanted them then there value would decrease.

In the early 90's every yuppie wanted a 3 series bmw and thats why the value is still high. Compare the second hand prices of a 3 series bmw to a 5, or 7 series and tell me what you see.

i bet u the bmw's, and merc's will keep their value much better than a commodore. Plus they wont break down that often. Its not that hard to make a fast car, but to make it last is a different story

Expensive Euro cars actually hold their value quite poorly and have a high rate of depreciation.

And BMWs/Mercs having a good reliability record is also false.

U-G-L-Y it don't need no alibi it's ugly...damn ugly

Looks very Korean to me...like an enormous Daewoo thats taken a lickin with the ugly stick.. at best its a viva or vectra on roids. The design team just didn't know when to stop glueing unessesary crap on that clay model did they?. Those pumped out guards should only be on the sports versions...they look rediculous on an exec with stock rims/ride height ect. Or maybe the design team got bored and let their kids pimp daddies ride. Very ugly by design & sadly average from an engineering perspective. I wish GMH would try and build something fresh and new instead of just stretching out Opels and whacking on an extra bit here or there where needed. Same old same old from GMH... congratulations you've built a billion dollar rwd Daewoo....excellent.

well our series 5 bmw was satan incarnate (no pun intended). it "did things" of its own accord and needed frequent servicing. one time it wouldn't close the sunroof - another it wouldn't let us out of second, heh heh. yep, won't be in a hurry to get another beemer.

Ahh the VE is a clean sheet design.

Yes and the world is flat...coz someone from the GMH publicity department says it's so.

Have a look @ the car and tell me they haven't followed the proven Holden formula of taking all the parts available from GM global modify as needed then stuff it into a body thats also stolen its form this time from the european opel of about 5 yrs ago. It's a hotchpotch caserole of commodore crap!!!

BMW's won't break down that often. :glare:

lol

The father inlaw owns one and has spent a packet keeping it up and running. (cracked heads, failed idle control etc)

BMW's are nothing more than a European Commodore.

Merc, they are much better.

god forbid you damage the engine in any way

Sounds like the perfect opportunity for an SR / RB conversion :glare:

I'd love an SR20DET powered E30 3 series, or an RB powered E34 5 series (although in the latter I'd probably go a 1U-ZFE and keep V8 power.

Very true.

If you want proof take a look at 7 series BMW's. Take a look at their new price, and their price now, 4 years down the track... ouch

i suspect the effect we are seeing here has less to do with the car and its mechanicals, and more to do with the value of leasing high ticket cars. A three to four year rollover with 100,000ks is the sweet spot for higher five figure salaries.

Id prefer the previous model Magna (the awd version) over the new Commodore, any day of the week. But then again, if (IF!!) I ever go back to the mundane Aussie 6/8 banger, I'd go for a 2ndhand BA XR6 Turbo thank you very much. VE Commodore = cat spew

Ummmmm any other car currently share the same suspension, chassis, and many other components? Apart from the engine this commodore shares nothing with other GM cars.

Today’s Holden is nothing like Nissan which shares every components among its cheapest cars to its most expensive ones. Heck the new GTR has the same shape as the old 350Z and also the old Hyundai Tiburon.

Take off your Holden hate goggles.

Heck the new GTR has the same shape as the old 350Z

What's the shape got to do with it? The new Commodore looks like an Astra. But I know its, for the first time, all new and custom to holden rather than an Opel hand-me-down.

the ve is just like any other commodore a bucket of shit

wait till u see what goes on behind closed doors the ve/wm has more problems than u can poke a stick at

at least the ve comes with a custom paddleing pool in the passangers footwell

they should give away a free rubber duck with every ve/wm sold to keep the passanger amused (as the a/c drain tube doesnt seal propley and leak water on the floor)

and when that problem is fixed then the hvac module are prone to failing so u will never use the a/c system propley

creaks from the a-piller from bad spot welds

the alarm system is a joke (better off buying a super cheap system)

it takes about 2 seconds to remove the led indicators from the front guards (and u wont break it and u dont need any tools to remove it)

the list goes on ??????

    • Hey guys I have a 2001 Nissan stagea vq25det, I don't have any engine lights and not really any issues running but I was curious to see if I could use my obd II scanner to find anything that was hidden and I plugged my scanner in and it just said "Low voltage cannot scan" does anyone know how to fix this or what this could be?
    • Sadly we have something in common, our Skyline's like blowing up electrically 😢
    • So, no videos, but, the FAB9 Elite manifold and 68mm Bosch throttle bodies are in stock, but, not the rear part of the air box The FAB9 rear airbox thingie is made with a 3" intake pipe, to suit the 3" intake pipe size of a 68mm throttle body  When they get some more in stock is currently unknown as I'm waiting for FAB9 to reply with a ETA on resupply, my assumption is they outsource their plastic printing stuff to "china", and with the current "tariff war" going on in 'Merica it could be on hold for an undisclosed time Should I pull the pin on the Intake and throttle body, and wait for the airbox?????, that's what I'm thinking... 1. Would the standard 2.75" OEM intake on the air box really be that much of a restriction compared to the 3" naturally aspirated?????? 2. If I don't get the 3" FAB9 airbox fitted at the same time as the intake and throttle body will it need a retune, when/if it eventually turns up?????? As I'm impulsive, to a fault, decisions will be made within....."what's the time now"???....let's say 12 hours......LOL
    • yeah its just so expensive nowadays and its easy to lose motivation very quickly when you start adding up the costs. I acquired the car from a collector in Melbourne and was lucky to get the opportunity to buy something already completed.  I looked at a proper resto and your paying over 300-400K for a proper one (nut and bolt) so this one to me seemed like a much better option! Car is in private storage and for serious buyers, welcome to come see it/drive it in person (photos don't do it justice).
