hey all im looking for a good work shop to do some work on my car, ceffy with rb26dett.

im currently doing a single conversion, ive removed the stock turbos and manifold and that shit but i want someone to put on my new turbo manifold wastgate, all the liens zorst, IC piping and all that shit.

if someone could recomend some place to get this done for a resonable price that would be great. im on the goldcoast and will tow the car to brissy if need be.

also would anyone have a rough guess of how much this is gona cost me, only parts i have are the turbo, manifold and wastgate.

thanks ben

u have a pm

mate,

i have come across quite a few mechanics in melbourne and queensland over the last 7 years of driving and i can honestly say that one of hte best, if not the best mechanic i have come across is dan from elite racing. he is on the forums as 3lit3_32 (click here to contact him: http://www.skylinesaustralia.com/forums/in...&MID=10554)

send him a PM and you won't regret it

cheers,

Warren

GT Auto Garage in Newmarket and Option 1 Garage in Hamilton are the only two workshops I would ever touch. Ive been to a fair few workshops in Brissie and these are my pick for imports. They both have alot of time for their customers, wont steer you in the wrong direction and have great advice.

I have heard good things about East Coast Customs but havent been there.

  • 6 months later...
Carmen imports at Brendale just quoted me $500 for timing belt replacement, $1000 for timing belt and tensioners, seals etc.

Then he said $350 for spark plugs, oil, oil filter and fuel filter, sounds a bit steep eh people ?

rofl. No, it doesnt sound a bit steep, It sounds a farkin whole lot steep. If I were you I would look elsewhere.

On the subject of who is good around town and who isnt I will add my 2 cents worth.

I looked around a fair bit before i dived in to the task we have undertaken and i can say without fear or favor that Dan is tops in my book. His level of service goes way beyond and the pricing is unbelievably good by todays standard. That he does house calls just adds another star to his merit badge.

If you are out my side of town another i can recco is Mick from Signature Performance. Another young guy like Dan full of enthusiasm and clever as all getup to boot.

I cant go past either of these guys to the point i entrusted Dan with my hard earned to build and install my engine and mick to do some of my piping, surge tank and most importantly my tune. Its all done except the tune and that will be up and away as soon as the correct injectors arrive and mick has his new dyno installed.

There are a few I met along the way that I wouldnt touch with a barge pole but i wont go in to that here.

^^^^^^Yeah right Noel i know you would touch em with your POLE.

Another vote for DAN from Elite Racing.

Be patient with a reply for a pm he is always busy it will be worth the wait.

    • Am I correct in assuming that the R35's are getting the classic skyline haircut off the odometer?  Quick search on carsales, there are 33 08 and 09 GTR's for sale, only 2 of them have more then 100,000km's on them (116,075 and 110,000 respectively).  And somehow there are about 25 for sale with around 60,000kms? Looks like the classic skyline haircut to me =/
    • @Stringycheese  Have you only gone to the one blue slip workshop?  There will be a heap of them where ever you live, good odds that the next place you go to will pass the car.  Unfortunately (or fortunately?) every blue slip / engineering workshop will be different and will be happy passing or failing different things - despite working from the same set of rules. It's kinda like 2 lawyers arguing over a piece of legislation, each saying their interpretation is correct. Might seem strange that this happens when it comes to getting a modified car passed, but this is very much a thing. A big part of the game is finding an engineer / workshop that is on the same page as you.
    • Bah. I daily mine. ~60km per work day, 10-12 thousand km per year. What's the point of having a dirty old Datto and leaving it in the shed. It needs to be driven and enjoyed while the govco allows us to do so. It will only be a few years before we're forbidden to even start up internal combustion engines.
    • Judging by that spring perch and the normal looking spring on it - not a coilover. Well.... it is a coilover, just a stock format coilover, rather than what everyone calls a coilover.
    • Yes it is. We get stock from Nismo directly. I'm happy to take photos/video of it as proof before I ship it with timestamps or whathaveyou.
