the solenoid will have to be wired up to an output driver of the wolf.

i have an EBC solenoid wired into an output of my EMS and i control boost by changing values on the Pulse Width Modulator (PWM) value. Its pretty much just a way of tellin ghte valve when to open and what KPa to regulate boost to.

One side of the solenoid will go to +12v, the other will go to pin 5 (red/white) on the Wolf. I think you also need a diode across the solenoid to prevent damage to the Wolf, so it would pay to check the install manual.

The PWM frequency needs to be matched to the solenoid being used. I have a haltech solenoid which operates at 33Hz. You can change the solenoid opening amount every 500RPM.

Not sure on the hose hook up. I've heard people say the bottom port is always connected to the inlet manifold and the solenoid is connected from the inlet manifold to the top port of the wastegate.

for those of you going front facing plenums,

i'm looking at gradenko and Bl4cK32 here (the only ones i can remember off the top of my head)

What are you doing for an accelerator cable?

i have been told to get an s14 cable... is there any difference between an s14 and s13 cable?

and for those putting RB25DET 5spd into R32's... how are you combatting the speedo sender problem?

i've found this which may be suitable.. but i'm sure someone on here with more knowledge will shut me down... ie SK :)

Nissan Navara speedo sender. Total cost of ~$23

One thing i'd be concerened about is the ratios of that gear. But the VL guys seems to use that in their MX7's and RB25det 5spds.

its easy people, buy a gtr 32 speed sensor, remove the 33gtst one and take the gear of the end, put the gear onto the 32 one and put it in the gearbox and screw on the speedo cable

Clint,

Hows the spedo read with the 4.363:1 R32 GTST rear gears?

R33 Cluster will not fit into the R32.. unless you make it fit.

I think electric is easier, as an auto elecrtician can always make the signal work, and convert it to MPH quite easily. Can also be setup exactly right for your tire size and diff etc.

Could always just do a complete custom cluster setup..

hey guys looking for info on putting an RB30DET into an S13 Silvia. my clutch and starter motor recently died so while its out of action i thought i might put a turbo engine into it and i had this engine lying around doing nothing anyway. Im after parts ill need and also anyone near springwood, brisbane that can do such a conversion, and possibly a price. i know its not the best choice of engine but seeing as i already have the car and engine it works out to be the cheapest.

ill also need info on documentation ill need (ie. mod plates, engineers certificate, etc.) thanx for any help

Didnt i tell you to read the entire thread first ??

GTR-Ben may have some info for ya.

Thats my concern, you hear all the Nizpro guys producing great figures and doign great times, but are the engines hand grenades, are they durable etc. Ppl have a tendency to keep to themselves when they have a failure

This comment has got me thinking...

We hear of lots of people building these motors but not many who have been driving for some time.

I have heard of people who had these engines (rb30det) but wont say why the engine no longer exists.

SK has stated in the past that the R32 GTR oil pumps tend to fail with hi rpms and rb30's have trouble with oil temp.

Is there anything else we should know? I don't want to have to learn the hard way after spending the $$$. :P

    • Nope.    Grab a varex and turn it down as you get close to home, win win?
    • So, I've had my V36 for about a month now and have already copped an "excessive exhaust noise" notification from QLD TMR, reported by someone in my local area. It's a twin as per the original, and can have a bit of a throaty note to it when idling cold 😄 and if I do get up it a bit, it can be noisy, but it did pass a roadworthy inspection before sale, so.... ... but in the interest of being a good neighbour, I do want to quieten it down a bit. Is anyone here running a quiet aftermarket cat-back on their V36 or 370Z? And the big, bold question: does an aftermarket cat-back really make much of a performance difference on these cars?
    • The wiring diagram for the R33 RB25 is freely available, and is essentially the same same as most other RBs (just with differences as to which pin # does which job). To get the ECU to power up, you just need to provide power to the ECCS relay, and have the other power feeds that come in from the top left of the wiring diagram (wrt the ECU) that give perma power to the fuel pump relay, the ECU itself, etc etc, all connected. When you put power on all these it will just come to life. It's pretty clear from the diagram what needs to happen. Just follow the lines from the 12V + supply stuff in the top left over towards the ECU. I've even posted snips of such diagrams (not for vanilla 25, I think for Neo and 26) to various threads here in the last few months, talking about what it takes to get the fuel pump and FPCM up and going. Search these up and they will help get you started on doing the same with the vanilla 25 diagram. Hell, for all I know, I've done the same with that one in years past and have forgotten.
    • Yep...so unless someone posts up the answer you will need to probe from the ECU connector to the dash plug with a multi meter in continuity mode to trace the wires.  Note the ECU has multiple - and + (and across different key settings - Battery, IGN and Start) and most likely the power is fed from the connector(s) that is normally near the left hand headlight.
    • Thanks Duncan, I am actually just trying to get the Rb turning and running with the RB25DET S2 original loom itself  I am just trying to get it going outside the body and not thinking about the S15 or trying to match anything to the S15 loom at all I am only trying to see if anyone has done this and what pin they found to be the ignition trigger and ECU+/- on the dash connector, that's about it. Thanks
