Hey Guys,

well the beast arrives tomorrow and in its modified state, its not going to pass compliance!!

it has a twin aftermarket air filter set-up which needs to be replaced with a standard airbox.....does anyone know if the R33 GTR airbox will fit, or does anyone happen to have a standard autech airbox which i could borrow?

The exhaust may be another problem.....again does anyone have a standard autech stagea exhaust hanging around??

I know this is all a long shot, but any help would be greatly appreciated.

Cheers

Tim

First things first, what state do you live in, and what area?

I'd assume that the R33 GTR aribox should be the same, as the RB26DETT in the Stagea (whether series 1 or 2) is the same as that in the R33.

Here in Sunny Qld. our complier has most bits to standard for a fee. The he puts your bits back after.

That is if its just wheels, exhaust and air filter box.

Is there any other 260RS owners in Vic??

does anyone know if the stagea (260RS) airbox is def the same as the GTR one?? like does it have the same mounting points?

all help greatly appreciated

Give Mick Martin a ring at SVI in Brisbane/silverwater(?) he should know about airbox issues cos he did mine back in September '06. BTW compliers get buckets of money for sorting all this crap out so you can have the car you paid for in the first place. lol

Dont launch the car from a stand still with a std clutch. You will wreck the clutch. Soz cant help you im not in melbourne ATM. Btw whos doing the compliance for you? Err Kamikaze?

Any chance of advice on semi-bullet-proof clutch mate? Just in case I get the urge? Don't seem much point havin them horses & not be able to whip'em in an emergency without getting egg on ya face? >_<

for a HD clutch frrom Jim Berry will cost you probably abt $8-900 with a swap over for your old ones. Race pace my tuner is able to offer me for A HD clutch installed for about $1.5k with no swap over. To tell you the truth i still have no idea which one to trust. But heres the link to Jim Berry and some info on the clutched from the forum.

http://www.skylinesaustralia.com/forums/in...howtopic=103268.

When I got mine the std clutch was on the way out, replaced that with a 5puk. Thats now shot and have a twin plate Direct Clutch going in. I have heard good things about the JB clutches though.

I just had a clutch rebuilt last week from Jim Berry. The originally was built by Direct.

Jim found some pretty rough workmanship from the last rebuild.

It now healthy 3000lb clamp which should be heaps for my Rb25DET

How many ks or years did the clutched last you guys? RBNT and Darrin? <ineshas done 75k is still doing fine my tuner just ask me not to launch it from a standstill. Let me know. BTW has anybody fiexed the rusts that might be present underneath the sideview mirrors?

I have not used the clutch yet, I am still converting my car to a manual

Something Jim did say, was the 260RS clutch has a lighter clamp pressure than a 33 GTR. So with a few hard launches and the extra weight of the Stagea, no wonder they do not last.

Rust, I have some in my drivers door which will be fixed soon when my r34 front end gets painted

What did you want to know?

I guess he just wanted to know how to go about fixing it.

It was something my best mate and I pointed out to him when we met at the tint professor.

Its pretty simple, remove the mirrors, sand the rust back, fill the gaps, paint the entire door, reinstall mirror, finished.

    • As far as I can tell I have everything properly set in the Haltech software for engine size, injector data, all sensors seem to be reporting proper numbers.  If I change any injector details it doesnt run right.    Changing the base map is having the biggest change in response, im not sure how people are saying it doesnt really matter.  I'm guessing under normal conditions the ECU is able to self adjust and keep everything smooth.   Right now my best performance is happening by lowering the base map just enough to where the ECU us doing short term cut of about 45% to reach the target Lambda of 14.7.  That way when I start putting load on it still has high enough fuel map to not be so lean.  After 2500 rpm I raised the base map to what would be really rich at no load, but still helps with the lean spots on load.  I figure I don't have much reason to be above 2500rpm with no load.  When watching other videos it seems their target is reached much faster than mine.  Mine takes forever to adjust and reach the target. My next few days will be spent making sure timing is good, it was running fine before doing the ECU and DBW swap, but want to verify.  I'll also probably swap in the new injectors I bought as well as a walbro 255 pump.
    • It would be different if the sealant hadn't started to peel up with gaps in the glue about ~6cm and bigger in some areas. I would much prefer not having to do the work take them off the car . However, the filler the owner put in the roof rack mount cavities has shrunk and begun to crack on the rail delete panels. I cant trust that to hold off moisture ingress especially where I live. Not only that but I have faded paint on as well as on either side of these panels, so they would need to come off to give the roofline a proper respray. My goal is to get in there and put a healthy amount of epoxy instead of panel filler/bog and potentially skin with carbon fiber. I have 2 spare rolls from an old motorcycle fairing project from a few years back and I think it'd be a nice touch on a black stag.  I've seen some threads where people replace their roof rack delete with a welded in sheet metal part. But has anyone re-worked the roof rails themselves? It seems like there is a lot of volume there to add in some threads and maybe a keyway for a quick(er) release roof rack system. Not afraid to mill something out if I have to. It would be cool to have a cross bar only setup. That way I can keep the sleek roofline that would accept a couple bolts to gain back that extra utility  3D print some snazzy covers to hide the threaded section to be thorough and keep things covered when not using the rack.
    • Probably not. A workshop grade scantool is my go to for proper Consult interrogation. Any workshop grade tool should do it. Just go to a workshop.
    • In my head it does make sense to be a fuel problem since that is what I touched when cleaning the system. When I was testing with the fuel pressure gauge, the pressure was constantly 2.5 bar with the FPR vacuum removed. When stalling, the pressure was going up to 3.0 bar (which is how it should be on ignition).
    • ECUtalk pages don't mention they support the ABS computer (consult port has more than one CAN), so you might just need a different scan tool. But, I would expect ABS is a different light to the brake warning/handbrake light, do you see an ABS light come on for a few seconds when you turn the key from ACC to IGN? But since you said: I'd have a look at the ABS sensors in the rear hubs to make sure they are not damaged, disconnected etc.
