How many ks or years did the clutched last you guys? RBNT and Darrin? <ineshas done 75k is still doing fine my tuner just ask me not to launch it from a standstill. Let me know. BTW has anybody fiexed the rusts that might be present underneath the sideview mirrors?

The original didnt last long at all. The 5puk lasted about 7 months.

ive got a direct clutch solid centre twin plate in mine and its holding up perfect on previous car for 2 years with 350rwhp and new setup in the stagea on 545rwhp so its certainly taking a beating :P

i paid like $1700 about 4 years ago now so i reckon they might be cheaper these days. only drama is it rattles hellll loud being a twin plate and its way rattlier than a os giken twin plate thats for sure. plus its damn heavy pedal feel and it wouldnt be ideal for daily use. must be over 3000lb pressure plate easy ive been told, though i never got it checked to find out.

its all about compromises i suppose when u want more power :)

Well im just thinking to repair that small patch of ruse and repaint it just that small section. Cos its underneath the sideview mirrors so its not really noticeable (difference in paint color.shade) unless you really look for it. Pluius my car got the paint protection on it so i dont want to waste it by painting the whole thing.

Funny when i sple to JB he ask me the first question who will be driving this car? And i reply only me!! :P . And hes said well thats makes life much more easuer withoutthe Misuss in the equation LOL. But i told him that i want the car to be streetable and my traget is only 300-350AWKW. abd he said single plate with increase clamp load should do the job fine. Soo... Just wondering if we were to pay a mech to install the clucth how much it would have cost in labor for removing and installing the clutch?

All depends were you live

There is a guy/company in Brisbane that will do it for approx $250 including a flywheel machine....bargin

I have heard of upto $700-800 for labour

So shop around

Is the rattle that bad?? I have mine going in today. $1700 two years ago was a good price, mine was $1500 + the push pull convo kit.

I can vouch for Direct Clutch.

Had a standard SINGLE plate clutch modified and rebuilt with organics by them in 2000 for my GTR. Circuit raced the car MANY times, drag raced at least 100 passes (** note- this car ran 11.1 sec @ 129 mph), and drove it on the street for around 15,000 klms, and it was JUST starting to slip when I sold the car in 2005.

So, it did all that, DIDN'T rattle, had a nice take-up, and was cheap!

Maybe I was just lucky, or maybe it's that I always heel/toe on downchanges and don't slip it excessively? Whatever it is, great clutch! :)

..... my two cents lads

i got mine fixed when the sideskirts were put on

Ive got the same problem with rust in the same spot, hoping to have it fixed up by Powercruise in Darwin this Easter.

Went for my first drive in the staj with the twin plate fitted. It is a bit rattly but nothing to severe, what is severe is the take up, theres nothing there!

    • Sorry to hear your HFM BM57 was faulty,  did you contact HFM I would hope they would be at least grateful for the information if there was some sort of manufacturing fault, you would hope they would be sympathetic even if your item was 2 years old if it had never been fitted. May I ask where it leaked from ?
    • Cats are called Bella, and Donna...  Like that poisonous plant And I remember your 2 monsters, I remember making a little bit of wee when you let them out... LOL I have already installed cat doors into the laundry where their kitty litter is, and the sun room, apart from the cat doors there's not going to be any permanent mounted stuff on the interior walls (interior doors are cheap and easy to replace) I will get a outdoor cat cage thingie once I finish the landscaping out back... https://catnip.com.au/ The only off limit areas are the main bedroom and the gym room....but, currently the cats are curled up in bed, in the main bedroom with the Mrs.....LOL, the off limits for the kittens to the main bedroom lasted about 5 minutes with Jackie I currently only have 1 free standing huge cat tree multiple level scratching post thingie in the lounge room, but, I will be getting another one soon now that I'm happy with the furniture layout in the back room and have a perfect spot for it
    • All of this is making it seem clear that running the Coppermix twin was definitely the way to go, especially in hindsight with how insane tariffs have gotten and the strength of the USD vs yen at the time.
    • That sounds like no chance of even importing one for road registering then Now I see why Duncan wants to check LHD rules for Targa...   I wonder how "bolt in" the AWD would be if you got one imported from the US and swapped it to an AUD one
    • Not to mention they drive like a bucket of bolts! yuck!
