stick to the old 60 80 and 100, nice and simple

I agree 100% with going back to the old speed limits. Near me there are parallel roads that alternate between 50 & 60 zones. Same as going into the city through the parklands. I never remember which road is 50 and which is 60. But it's cheaper to fit a new sign than actually repair the roads.

comparing us to germany which is a small rich country isn't really fair. I'm sure our roads have to cover a hell of a lot more distance than theirs do.

Yeah but they have millions of more cars on the road.

Also their drivers are much better taught. I takes much longer get your license and costs a fair bit too!! but at least they drive much better and sensibly then us.

Actually I remember reading that Germany has more kilometres of actual roadways than Australia and most other contries. Enough to go around the equator 5 times IIRC. Although Germany itself is smaller than Australia it's still pretty bloody big.

Speed Camera revenue has hit an all time low. It wont take long before some guy chains the bin to his towbar and goes for a drive.

I can't see how it promotes slowing down. Go to the eastern states and there are warnings everywhere that raise the awareness of speeding. In SA? Ah just fine em later... bastards.

I say if you see one of these you should pull over up the road walk back and dispose of your half full cup of coke into it.

^^^^^

That's a great idea

How about a peaceful protest. We can all sit of 40km/h and watch the traffic back up. If traffic is reduced to 40 across Adelaide, they wont be raising much revenue.

But then again, they'll probably just reduce the speed limit to 30 and give us the "Speed Kills" crap again.

they once clocked a bog standard 70's Toyota Corolla doing 200km/h driven by a 30 something year old chick - the car has a top speed of about 160km/h and considering it's age it's highly unlikely it could do even that.

I remember that one. :)

But yes... those middle aged women, they do fly around, especially in car parks! I was almost cleaned up by one a day ago. :S

    • Working through possible solutions of converting my mechanical speedo.    Anyone know what type of speedo sensor the factory r34 gtr getrag has ? what the output is ? I assume its not a VSS and more a voltage like earlier speedo sensors ? Can an ECU read it ?

    • I can get more photos of it here soon and I plan to make a thread detailing the process. I received the car this way and it sorely needs refinishing. That is probably the most appealing photo of it. Up close it is fading, cracked, and needs to be re-glued. Depending on their condition I'm on the fence between refinishing or making a new set.  Another angle hiding the pimples and razor pumps
    • According to this thread the RS4V with build plate RC40 comes with the R200 diff @ 4.083 ratio as well (mine has said RC40 denotation). We may need to check if the axle stubs are the same pattern as well. The auto subframes have longer axles. However I think yours being a later Series 2 as well, we should have the same bolt pattern for the diff stubs. Unless your upgraded rear also has upgraded axles. Either way, I would not be opposed to pulling the covers to check so I can inspect that  fancy rear core  Also I don't have HICAS. I don't believe that should change things but I hope the people here with heaps more experience than me can correct me if I'm wrong   Let me know if you want to attempt to make this work and I can get some pictures of mine from under the car.
    • It's not that straightforward. For example I have had this code because my ignitor/power transistor wires were unplugged. It knows something is wrong but has no idea what it means. If you want to actually diagnose this I recommend following the service manual flowchart for code 21. Ohm out the harness, coilpacks, inspect the ECU, etc. And again, it's entirely possible for there to be no problem at all but if you're running a different coilpack it'll trigger the code because it doesn't like what it sees.
