hi, just wondering if any one can help.

My mates has got a s13 silvia and hes just put a fmic and after a week all of a sudden hes car doesnt run proberly. Theres no power at all. He can plant his foot and it very slowly builds up. Also when cold he car runs perfect again and when its hot and run crap again. also the it doesnt idle proberly and his car rattles so much the exhaust hits the car. I think its the timing could this be it or is there anything else.

maybe the AFM isn't plugged in properly? they would have taken the AFM/airbox off when doing hte plumbing probably

a loose intercooler hose is a likely culprit i think too... its not hard to check to make sure as workshops are human and do make mistakes

let us know how it goes

cheers,

Warren

still havent got it fixed. someone said it has to have a breather hose running off you intercooler pipe or if you plug it up you will blow your gasket. can anyone confirm

Thats crap. Most people have a vac line running from there IC piping to the wastegate actuator/bleed valve but you can get away without it.

There is definitely a very small leak somewhere in your IC piping or joiners...pin hole size. If clamps had popped off the car would not go further than 5 meters.

yeh i did. the fmic was install at a shop. so it "should" be install correctly. a week after the fmic install thats when it all started happening. but i will double check.

cheers

haha ive seen some dodgy shops..

but i ahve removed a dump pipe with a crow bar... long story lol..

well sounds heat related

my mates S13 had probs with heat due to FMIC pipping getting hot and mucking with the AFM plug which was sitting on it.. so...

If all else fails grab a hammer and start hitting things.....no dont do that just double check everything and that all vac lines are on and all eletricals connectors are ok

haha.. nothing wrong with some force.. best way of removing items. front bars, head lights etc :P

Thanks heaps for the replies. i will check it out. Also the car does run but very slowly like there is no turbo. but his boost gauge is set to 10psi and he only get 5psi max. No pressure

The breather hose isnt connected yet. he thinks the problem is the hose. it has a bolt in it atm. and thats how he got it. i also said it couldnt be because the car was running fine for a week like it was.

    • Hi all, Long time since I've posted here. Looking for some advice on what I can remove to further identify the cause of my issues.  I can move the passenger seat forward and back but the knob used to adjust the seat angle is pretty much free spinning, there's very little resistance.  Removing the side cover I can see that the chain is intact but the shaft for the adjustment spins without the gear attached to it moving.  What's my next step for disassembly here? Is this a common fault? Just being a little cautious as I didn't want to start removing bolts for a spring to fly out or something equally as stupid.  Cheers
    • Those above shitboxes, mediocre and above usually have a turbo strapped to them, hence the slightly higher octane is required.
    • Hi all,   long time listener, first time caller   i was wondering if anyone can help me identify a transistor on the climate control unit board that decided to fry itself   I've circled it in the attached photo   any help would be appreciated
    • I mean, I got two VASS engineers to refuse to cert my own coilovers stating those very laws. Appendix B makes it pretty clear what it considers 'Variable Suspension' to be. In my lived experience they can't certify something that isn't actually in the list as something that requires certification. In the VASS engineering checklist they have to complete (LS3/NCOP11) and sign on there is nothing there. All the references inside NCOP11 state that if it's variable by the driver that height needs to maintain 100mm while the car is in motion. It states the car is lowered lowering blocks and other types of things are acceptable. Dialling out a shock is about as 'user adjustable' as changing any other suspension component lol. I wanted to have it signed off to dissuade HWP and RWC testers to state the suspension is legal to avoid having this discussion with them. The real problem is that Police and RWC/Pink/Blue slip people will say it needs engineering, and the engineers will state it doesn't need engineering. It is hugely irritating when aforementioned people get all "i know the rules mate feck off" when they don't, and the actual engineers are pleasant as all hell and do know the rules. Cars failing RWC for things that aren't listed in the RWC requirements is another thing here entirely!
    • I don't. I mean, mine's not a GTR, but it is a 32 with a lot of GTR stuff on it. But regardless, I typically buy from local suppliers. Getting stuff from Japan is seldom worth the pain. Buying from RHDJapan usually ends up in the final total of your basket being about double what you thought it would be, after all the bullshit fees and such are added on.
