okay so I want to run 9inch fronts and 10-11inch rears on my 33 GTSt and am after suggestions on which tire/wheel combo to look for.

My basic plan is to run GTR (or fake GTR) front quarter panels and then just have the standard rear guards 'flared' out, possibly with some fiberglass to get some more coverage over the rear wheels... like the S14 attached but obviously not as extreme

I want to stay with 17 inch wheels as I like to run good daily tires and it helps keep the cost down... I am really more concerned with width than diameter

so my main question is can I run some 9 inch rims designed for a GTR (GTR offset +12 or so), on the front and then some 10 inch rims designed for a GTR on the rear? will this give me a weird track?

I don't want to run spacers

I am keen to get a hold of the rims/tires first, get it mocked up to see how the rear arches are going to work out... anyone running anything similar?

BTW I have 9 inch rears with Azenis RT615 in a 255/40/17 on at the moment and I have scrubbing issues... car is at 360mm wheel to guard at the rear to stop this but when one side of the car is loaded up it can still scrub... want to get it down another 10mm all round

any help would be appreciated :)

Hey mate, I tried on some 20' volk gtc's which were for a gtr so the rears had a +22 offset and were 10.5 & fronts were 9.5 in a +20 offset.

I have a r33 gtst and the rears went out about 1inch past the rear guards so some pritty majore guard work would have needed to been done & the fronts were fairly similar!

hmm so it would seem 9.5 +20 and 10.5 +22 would be almost perfect... I am looking to have the guards come out no more than 25-30mm

I am not worried about the front, I can always source some off the shelf fiberglass jobbies and bolt them on... its the rear that will need to have cuts made, be flared and have filler put in etc etc

Also I run about 1.5 degree neg camber in the front and about 0.5 neg in the rear and don't want any more so won't be going too low... its not a show car so not too worried about having it mm perfect

I have 17x8's +10 offset wheels on the front which sit inline with my fibreglass front guards perfectly (30mm).. Rears.. well they still havnt been done because im saving for full kit and paintjob + widebody.. but should be a bit wider then a gtr by the time im done with it.. will post pics tonight

I also plan on NOT using fibreglass on the rear... after using fibreglass fronts, I would strongly suggest you make sure you cut off the inner lip if it has any before painting.. ....

yeah I want the rears to be mostly metal work... fiberglass never looks as good as metal when painted... although I am not too worried about how perfect it is when up close...

think GTR guards on the front would be the go if I could get some relatively cheap

please post those pics if you get a chance:)

hey nic.

I run 18 x F 8.5 +32 and R9.5 +38 and the offset is perfect IMO. dunno how this helps :( If ur thinking on putting on some r-comps the 17s will be much cheaper.

hey Chris... yeah I guess I could just stay with the GTSt offset and go an inch wider... so 9.5 +32 at the front and 10.5 +38 at the back

I am kind of keen to do the GTR offset thing tho as I can get more dish then... my vision is pumped guards, lots of dish and hardly any body kit so you can see plenty of tyre etc... kinda like an old school muscle car

I will be sticking with the Azenis so 17's are definately the go

yo nicko

yeha would be nice

yeah 10.5 would be sweet...I cbf with all the effort etc so I will stick with 9.5 +38 rear and just put on some semis should stick good I rekcon.

get that turbo on mate and cain every1.

yeah turbo will be going on first... I just want to be on the lookout for rims that will suit this sort of look, just have to know the width and offset first so I know what I am looking for... probably source a set of secondhand work meisters black with chrome dish etc... I am in no hurry lol :( is more for looks than performance

hey Nathan you don't know the offset of those 10.5s on the rear there... blended GTR rear looks good too

blended GTR rear......235/40/18 rears, stretched.....10.5inch rim

hmm... not sure if it's GTR tho? GTRs have a more squared guard - you actually have a distinct crease in the bodywork and not as blended.

so i reckon if you were to go GTR rear quarters, try not to blend as much.

p.s. dont get me wrong, thats a massive rear end on your car man...lol.

    • There was a great one on Victoria Rd in Gladesville too back in the day. I can only assume GTSBoy is thinking of the mill up on the wollondilly, no restaurant there any more but they have restored the original steam engine on site and run it every few months, have an annual steampunk festival etc @The Bogan, you came to the wrong town for restaurants. we have a few reasonable asian and indian options but the Paragon is as good as it gets otherwise. That brewery is apparently just opened, been meaning to give it a go some time. The Highlands have plenty of fancy options but I suspect you are more a hearty eater than fancy eater
