the new just jap kit is bolt on.. my ass it is..

on the other hand the hybrid kit is easier.

Today Chris and i set to work on fitting a just jap FMIC to his 1993 R33 S1 which i can safely say is one of the best S1 ive seen!.

Just Jap $345 FMIC kit

HKS T piece

76mm hole saw

angle grinder

first off

removing the Front bar. due to having a few extra hidden clips took a bit longer than expected..

removing the SMIC and pipping.

removing the front support.

then getting stuck as he had no instructions.. so i went searching on sau and found nothing.. thanks..

decided to wing it  and dummy fitted the cooler core. mounted on the bottom brackets.

dummy fit the front support. cut to fit.. fit then removed to cut for top brackets.

fit. then removed to drill new bracket holes.. would be nice if they told us..

then refit. used spacers..

fit LHS pipping.

drilled 76mm hole with tools supplied by TAFE QLD

drilled one more. i did use R33S2 diagram thanks mate.. helpful seeing i had no instructions.

fit pipping. tightened.

start up.. the top pipe touched the fan. so re adjusted properly..

start perfect

sprayed cut body with antirust.

attempted to fit front bar.

hacked rear of bar.

indicators wer in the way so hacked that.then resealed it with duck tape properly not dodgy like shane would.

fitted to front bar.

splash guards on. inner guards on.

retensioned all bolts, clamps and brackets. fitted all clamps to face the same way. to look pro..

went for a test drive..

saw 14PSI.. then had to plumb in the intercooler line.. ther is no nipple so i cut the vac line from TB and inserted a HKS T piece (HKS POWAH AND SPORTS). hooked up to solenoid and boost is at 9ish PSI.

had to rebend the top pipe to suit, rethread a clamp.

chris is happy with his FMIC i got paid and the world is at piece.. and he scored a HKS part..

your more than welcome chris and i hope u enjoy your stay on this forum. if u need anymore work im happy to do some more. but no more custom cutting.. and ill charge by the hour.. due to extra cutting it took around 4 hours.. :ninja: wher as the hybrid took me 2-3??

some happy shots taken by chris

thanks chris and thanks sau

mark.

that took u 4 hours

i woulda looked at it, opened a beer, and said go elsewhere :)

as if im dodgy, says the man who uses bleed valves as a boost 'controller' :(

i still like manually controlling boost over electric.. something bout not having electronics that run on copper wires keeping ur car from hitting 45psi..

in addition to that, did u put rubber around the hole u cut for the cooler pipe?

ahaha NO shane i didnt.. want to knw why...? i cut a hole big enough to accomodate the cooler pipe with room to spare.. and left nothing touching anything..

i left 2mm gap from thermo to core, 3mm from rad fan without cutting it.. skills yo..

quite a fun day..

if u want ill build ur GTR for u.. ;) ...(the garden ornament)

Yep, I fitted my Hybrid FMIC Kit a couple weeks ago and was a piece of piss sept shaping the fan, i didnt expect that.

hey ryan

yeah i found the hybrid easier than the just jap.. the just jap which we used had too much bracket bending and no instructions.. but didnt need to shape and cut the fan as she clears it nicely.. 2-3mm.. only cause i did bend the top pipe mounting bracket to fit nicely. all in all looks professionaly done and keeps chris happy.. and looks stock too :)

put pics up of ur car chris.. how how its hidden nicely :(

What did you charge to install the FMIC Mark, I need my kit installed :D

he charged a very fair price.. i bought some of the tools and i was the lacky for the day ( did the easy side of the FMIC and helped where needed)

and yeah scored a fully sick HKS part...

Ill post some pics up of the baby once i have washed her.. shes pretty damn dirty atm.

But yeah id say it would be a solid 3-4 hour job ( take time off from us having a bit of a break and figuring out what to do etc)

It will hit.... I give you one week...

dont be like that..im sure it will be fine ;)

im keen to see how much extra powa i got now.. all i need is an exhuast system and the thing is breathing aftermarket style :D

It will hit.... I give you one week...

i doubt that. i fastened it with 10mm bracket and lock nut. and the clamps are super tight.

ok col if it doesnt touch within a week u shout me dinner one tuesday night lol.. :D

yeah i didnt charge much as thought it was similar to hybrid but wasnt. but not one to go back on my word so all good. PM me if u want to get one fitted.. ;)

im off to drags now in the R34.. ;)

  • 2 weeks later...

Gotta be careful bending those brackets that are welded to ally, I hope you held the bracket in a vice or something and bent after that.. whoever installed the fmic kit in my car didn't brace the bracket before bending and now the weld is starting to crack  I have since unbolted the bracket in an attempt to slowdown the cracking O_o

    • Yeah, I'm not interested in wetting the carpets, and I don't care about brown dirt/dust that lives deep in the pile or underneath. It's not like I crawl around on them in my birthday suit or eat dropped food off them (because there is never any open food in my car). The seats are alcantara (cheap Chinese imitation alcantara, to be sure!) with barely 1" of foam pad behind the surface. That's not getting wet either. Any car that I would be happy to get the interior wet, I would not care to put the effort into.
    • We have one that holds 2.8L of water. On floor carpet that hasn't been touched in 2 or 3 years, will take a minimum of 2 fills of the tank to do a bedroom, and that's going AROUND the bed.   In the cruiser, I used an ENTIRE 2.8L tank, just on the front passenger footwell. But it had some fungus growing, and had been full of mud from being used as a 4WD for many years. I can do that floor again, and it will still pull mud out. However, the water now only looks dirty, not pitch black and leaving full sludge in the bottom of the tank it sucks back into. Oh, and, this is about a $1500 unit.
    • This is mine, works a treat for the cars, suction is good, I use the Bissell clean and protect stuff I have found giving it a good spray and light scrub with the soft brush on the head of the nossle for carpet, and a rub with a microfibre for cloth seats and cloth door trims, prior to another quick spray before vacuuming it up works the best @GTSBoy You would surprised on what it gets out of carpet and seats that actually "look" clean, I recommend that you test drive yours when you have a little time to kill, then post pics of the muddy looking water that I believe you will find
    • I think even the "commercial" capacity ones that you would hire from supermarkets etc wouldn't have the capacity to do all that much in one go. I will go through half a dozen tanks of solution and dumps/rinses of the waste tank for one little 2 seat sofa. Or similar for one 6 footish rug. That's the price you pay for something small that only takes up a bit of cupboard space, instead of something that takes up the entire laundry cupboard or half the shed.
    • Someone needs to copy it, improve it aesthetically, make it DBW ready from day 0 and send it to the motherland Chynah for my relatives to cast it and mass produce it 😅
