Which Coilovers Would You Get For Under $2000?

Just want to see what everyones preferences are on choosing coilovers, for a budget say $2000.

Car is R34 Gtt, 260rwkw, 80% street use and 20% circuit.

HKS Hypermax II. Height and damp adjustable, from Nengun $2000 EMS delivered.

Sydneykid Bilstein & Whiteline Suspension $2200 for the full kit, you get a lot more than just coilovers but delivery is subject stock.

TEIN - Super Street. Height and damp adjustable, from Nengun $1500 EMS delivered.

Flying Performance TEIN SKYLINE COILOVER SUSPENSION $1899 + $40 P&H (not sure of specs)

Nismo - S Tune - Suspension Kit. Hardness adjustable. $1770 EMS delivered Nengun.

Just Jap G4 Racing Street Spec Coilovers, Spring rate: 13 (F) 8.7 ® Kg/mm 36 way damper & height adjustable. $1299 pickup in Sydney.

Definitely Whiteline/Bilstein groupbuy.

As you said it's not just coilovers and it's everything working together in a suspension system that makes it great, not one single component

Why aren't Commodores fast when you put coilovers in them?

I went with Tein type flex from nengun and adj. whiteline swaybars, sydneykids kit is suposed to work really well but i wanted my car to go lower than the springs that he uses. i like my setup but could be a bit stiff for some ppl

Ive heard the S tune nismos are one of the best around.. Soft yet really good on track.. Ill be buying SS from nengun.. seems to be one of the cheaper alternatives and everyone has reported excellent handling and dampening

I've got the TEIN Type Flex in mine along with a few other bits of suspension goodness... makes the car solid like a rock (feel every ripple on the road) but that's the way I like it.

Handles like it's on rails as well.

The only downside is that your passengers will soon get rather annoyed with the ride quality as they cannot possible pre-empt each time the car "bumps"

oh. and forget the G4s. 13Kg front and 8.7kg rear is INSANE. especially with twin tube dampers that will have no hope in hell of controlling a spring that heavy. I run 10kg front and 8kg rear in a GTR and even with top of the line ohlins with remote gas canisters and seperate bump and rebound adjustment (600 settings per shock) they are still too hard for street or track.

Greddy TYPE S is an obvious omision from that list. Engineered and developed for street and track by Takeshi Tsuchiya GT500 and GT300 fame.

Looks interesting.

I see from the Tein site that they have replaced the RA model with the "Mono Flex" which spec wise looks similar to the GReddy unit above.

Would be interested to hear some feedback on both of these products.

    • Don't even try to run it on the stock ECU if you're going to have the boost controller bring boost above ~10 psi. I've already told you that. If you use the Nistune ECU, you will need to CAREFULLY read the available documentation for Neo tuning, and read some threads on the Nistune forums, to discover the various things you have to do to prevent the ECU from going bananas when the boost is too high. The is a table associated with th boost sensor that must be modified to prevent it from shitting the bed. This is just one of the things that you will need to do to the tune in Nistune, because the Neo turbo ECU will be expecting to see a number of things (such as the TCS) that are not there, and you have to block the DTCs on those. It is totally not surprising to me that you are having the problems that you are, but the solutions to these problems have been known for >15 years. So just get it done.
    • Hi. Sry iam not a mechanic and iam not at the car atm so i dont know 100% but they told they measure those and even try to change those. AFM they have two. Coils are new a they have my old one too. Plugs too. ECU...we have 25 NEO stock and Nistune 25 NEO.   But i dont know if any one those could be the problem and why/if/what can cause this, Only thing they did not check is fuel...but that walbro 255 is new(like 1,5 years)... That fuel pressure gauge idk...but i let them know Any suggestions?   EDIT: how can they know if it is like you say he ECU pull power when it reaches a specific boost level that is too high? Tha car has boost controler
