isn't the F sport GT package very similar if not the same as the z-tune? (im guessing here pics look the same )

If it were the same as the Z Tune don't you think they'd call it Z Tune? :)

About the only similarily is the 2.8L bottom end.

>>so if you walked in with 1 billion US dollars and told them to make you a number 21 geniuine Z tune theyd say - no fanx.......

>Yes they would

I doubt this very much. Nissan had an operating revenue of US$80b last year, but a cost of revenue of US$60b. These are gross figures too, the story gets even more compelling when you use net of expenses. Even Nissan would have to think very carefully about rejecting 1/20th of their operating revenue on principle.

I'm not really interested in getting into arguments with people who speculate and don't have credible sources. (I don't mean you alone but other people in this thread who seem to believe the bullshit spead through forums. I also have no reason to doubt your quote figures about Nissan's revenue)

My information comes straight out of NISMO and they have said no more than 20 will be built and I'll believe them

I don't know whether they would either.

We all know that everyone has a price. And Nissan, being in the business to make money, would have a more tangible price than an individual.

That said, Nissan / Nismo would also have to consider the loss of "face" when they promised their 20 owners that they've got the only 20 Z-Tunes ever made, and then some upstart comes along and gets number 21. It tells those 20 owners that Nissan's word isn't their bond.

Tosh would be a much better person to comment, but I don't think I could see a Japanese company doing something that would involve them losing that much face.

That said, there would be nothing stopping Nismo from building a customer car to the equivalent of the Z-Tune spec, but not making it a genuine Z-Tune. After all, the Japanese had that 280ps "power cap" for so long, and its pretty obvious that quite a few of their cars weren't peaking out at 206kW.

By the same token, Subaru told Australia that they were only going to bring 400 STi VI (in 2 door form) into the country, but then started shipping in the sedans. When the STi owners whinged, Subaru took the sophistry route by saying that their original promise to only ever bring in 400 STi coupes had not been broken.

The precedents are there for Nismo to build a car that is, for all intents and purposes, a Z-Tune but it'll never get the build plate.

f-sport package is not even close. probably the next best thing after a Z-tune would be an R-tune package with all the goodies. F-sport package has a kick arse engine etc, but not much esle, cars like Z-tune are much, much more than just a worked engine.

the original point, which was somewhat academic, contended that nissan would indeed product another z-tune given enough incentive, that's all. :ninja:

It's not serious anyway, just some people trying to be difficult

difficult?? no way, i'm easy. very, very easy. just ask some of the foxy chicks who owe me favours!

    • Working through possible solutions of converting my mechanical speedo.    Anyone know what type of speedo sensor the factory r34 gtr getrag has ? what the output is ? I assume its not a VSS and more a voltage like earlier speedo sensors ? Can an ECU read it ?

    • I can get more photos of it here soon and I plan to make a thread detailing the process. I received the car this way and it sorely needs refinishing. That is probably the most appealing photo of it. Up close it is fading, cracked, and needs to be re-glued. Depending on their condition I'm on the fence between refinishing or making a new set.  Another angle hiding the pimples and razor pumps
    • According to this thread the RS4V with build plate RC40 comes with the R200 diff @ 4.083 ratio as well (mine has said RC40 denotation). We may need to check if the axle stubs are the same pattern as well. The auto subframes have longer axles. However I think yours being a later Series 2 as well, we should have the same bolt pattern for the diff stubs. Unless your upgraded rear also has upgraded axles. Either way, I would not be opposed to pulling the covers to check so I can inspect that  fancy rear core  Also I don't have HICAS. I don't believe that should change things but I hope the people here with heaps more experience than me can correct me if I'm wrong   Let me know if you want to attempt to make this work and I can get some pictures of mine from under the car.
    • It's not that straightforward. For example I have had this code because my ignitor/power transistor wires were unplugged. It knows something is wrong but has no idea what it means. If you want to actually diagnose this I recommend following the service manual flowchart for code 21. Ohm out the harness, coilpacks, inspect the ECU, etc. And again, it's entirely possible for there to be no problem at all but if you're running a different coilpack it'll trigger the code because it doesn't like what it sees.
