Hey guys, I just wanted to introduce myself and give abit of info on myself. I recenty purchased my first skyline (R32 GTS-T) and have loved skylines for years. Actually most sport japanese Nissans I like. Incase your wondering my user name (Triptych) is actually a form of artwork and I am sure if you search google you find out exactly what it means. It is also the title of one of the albums of my all time fav band The Tea Party.

Alright a little bit about myself, I play drums, study photography and work a pretty crap job daily. I can play guitar also but not very good at it. The geeky side of me likes computer games and such. Also in case your wondering I am 24 years old. I decided to hold off getting a skyline until I had enough driving experiance under my belt so there is less chance of me doing something stupid.

Also I just want to add a big thank you to the people I have had a chance to talk so far in the queensland section of the forums. You guys have been really nice and I would like to personally thank JapTaxi (Will) as well as he is the first person I have met in person from the forums and he is a great guy.

I was a little worried about posting on the forums as my first car was a Holden Gemini (I prefer to refer to it as an Isuzu Gemini just so it reflects its roots more). As being a active member on the gemini forums since I first got my gemini I had found the forum community there to be not so helpful and prefer to put you down for asking a question. Don't get me wrong there is some really great people there but alot idiots that just like to try and make themself look better then what they really are. Thankfully my experiance with the Skyline forums has been alot better and I haven't met one person yet that isn't willing to help where they can. So once again a BIG thankyou to all of you. I have a feeling I am going to enjoy my time here on the forums as much as I do driving my R32.

I haven't got many pictures of my car yet as I only just got it. I did post this picture in another thread of mine but thought I would add it here.

Feel free to call me by my username or by my real name which is Adam. Whatever you prefer is fine with me.

Cheers

Adam.

welcome to the forums, adam!

nice to see people use some sense when buying a car - start with something they can afford to damage, then upgrade to something better when they have experience under their belt

car looks great too - love the colour. not too keen on the bodyit, but hey, each to their own

cheers,

Warren

Yeah I know alot of people don't the VS kits but I like them. I am more a fan of an aggressive body kit rather then smooth lines and such. Yeah the issues are getting sorted. The car goes back to the dealer next week and so far (over the phone) they have agreed to fix everything. They were a little annoyed I managed to knock $1500 off the price they were selling it drive away because they had already spend $700 on paint repairs. Now they are going to be spending more. I feel like a prick doing it because the actual people at the dealship are really friendly people and understanding but when basic roadworthy things need fixing I am not going to spend my money on them considering they sold it with a roadworthy.

Also when I get it back from the dealer fixed I will be more then happy to come along to a cruise. I look forward to meeting you guys.

In the next couple of weeks once my money flow has calmed down after getting the skyline and other things I am looking at becoming a member of the queensland section (if I am accepted). Just my way of saying thank you to all you guys for being such a great bunch of people.

Hi5! :sorcerer: Welcome hope to see you round...

LOL you haven't meet us, yet you say such nice words :)

hahaha I am basing my opinion on the quality of the people I have had a chance to speak to so far and the people who have replied in other topics I have started. I look forward to meeting more of you guys and girls (didn't want to single anybody out) and I hope when I get the chance my experiance with new people I meet is just as good as the ones I already have.

    • Has equal chance of cleaning an AFM and f**king an AFM. I think you can work out what happened. When the Hitachi ECU sees the AFM die and goes into the associated limp mode, then it will start and run just fine, because it ignores the AFM and just runs on idle maps that will do what it needs to get it going. But there is no proper load signal, so that's about all it can do. My suggestion? If you don't want to go full aftermaket ECU, then get some R35 GTR AFM cards and some housings to put them in, in the stock location, and Nistune the ECU. Better to do a good upgrade than just replace shitty 40 year old tech with the same 40 year old tech.
    • So my car was recently having trouble starting on initial crank, I would need to feather the gas for it to start up but besides that it would start and run fine. So I clicked the idle air control valve (with throttle body cleaner) and cleaned the MAF sensors (with MAF cleaner). The start up issue was fixed and now the car turns over without the assist of the throttle, but the car is in limp mode and wont rev past 2.5k RPM. From what I understand the IACV would not put the car in limp mode, so I am to believe it is the MAF sensors, but it was running fine before and now I cant get it out of limp mode. I cleaned the MAF made sure the o rings were seated properly. Made sure the cables were plugged in properly, the cables also both read the same voltage. Does anybody know why this is or what could be causing this or how to get it out of limp mode?
    • Ooo I might actually come and bring the kids, however will leave the shit box home and take the daily
    • Thanks. Yeah I realised that there's no way I'd be able to cover the holes with the filler, it would just fall through. Thanks again @GTSBoy!
    • That was the reason I asked. If you were going to be fully bodge spec, then that type of filler is the extreme bodge way to fill a large gap. But seeing as you're going to use glass sheet, I would only use that fibre reinforced filler if there are places that need a "bit more" after you've finished laying in the sheet. Which, ideally, you wouldn't. You might use a blob of it underneath the sheet, if you need to provide some support from under to keep the level of your sheet repair up as high as it needs to be, to minimise the amount of filler you need on top. Even though you're going bodge spec here, using glass instead of metal, the same rules apply wrt not having half inch deep filler on the top of the repair. Thick filler always ends up shitting the bed earlier than thin filler.
