Just Spotted These Flying Over The City :)

Recommended Posts

While I was walking into a customer site yesterday in Victoria Parade, I spotted a ADF C-130 Hercules, with what appeared to be a F-18 refueling. But I wasn't aware that the Hercules were used for refueling?

i thought that it was refuelling too until i saw the pics in the paper yesterday. I think they were just taking happy snaps of the F-18 over the city :stupid:

Aus doesn't have any KC-130s (K as in Kerosene), but the yanks do.

There were a few C-130s around on monday/tuesday, one flying out of Essendon (C-130H probably for the airshow), A C-130H that came into our Hangar to be modified and C-130J that bought some stuff down to us that we needed for the aircraft that had just been modified.

I work out the hangar fairly often, it's the one closest the freeway ('Tenix' and a big red spalt on it, currently has a C-130H outside), and we often take care of visiting RAAF stuff (I think we are having a couple of F/A-18s parkesd outside as well soon). The RAAF VIP stuff comes through, so we've seen Johnie Howard.

Hey what, if anything, is on at the airshow in the way of family fun stuff to do? I haven't been since i was a wee lad, but I used to have a thing for top gun so the planes were all the entertainment I needed back then :(

But this time 'round I want to take the other half and the wee lass. So what's around to keep them entertained? Croquet and Cognac? :)

There seems to be so many crashes at airshows. I guess its inevitable when you're showing off in the air.

This one is probably one of the better ones. Considering it is a fairly rare plane to see, especially to crash into someones house. Its also amazing no one died.

    • Yep, it was only an option on the Q50 Hybrid.  Same in Japan as far as I know. And doesn't use a centre diff like the Suby's do, so not the same as the WRX.  But it also isn't a reactive AWD like other Nissan AWD vehicles are, eg. Murano/Xtrail/etc.
    • You should have got a Maine Coone then. Only thing is they're big. But so cool, and just like a dog. Or, just get yourself a high performance dog. That'll teach you for wanting Parkour indoors 😛
    • Are you thinking of Bens R32? I don't remember if his went through the bonnet itself, but it went through the chassis rail. Brad (RISKIN) bought it, and turned it into a track car. It's funny how anti people are of Jim Berry now. I remember when I pulled mine out (during an engine change) and inspected it and found it cracking badly. At that point in time so many people were even on SAU, were so pro Jim Berry, and that was after Bens GTR exploded his quite publically.
    • That's one of the reasons I got that breed, they look weird, the other reasons are they small, they are very vocal, and run around like they are on crack, I didn't want a breed that just sits around, these two are like kids on red cordial  My daughter has one, and it's a laugh riot, constantly doing Parkour around the house, sits on her shoulder, plays catch, and constantly runs around the house taking turns chasing the dog around, her Bermese though, just lays around with constant bitch face, and just looks on in utter disgust at the cat and dog playing together
    • I'm getting PTSD flashbacks seeing that name again.  With my turbo swift, I got 1,500km of street use on a Jim Berry clutch before it exploded and took out my input shaft with it.
