I have some tomei cams in my GTR that i bought not long ago, put it on the dyno quickly and got 70 more kw out of it (yes they were set up that bad). Makes 240 rwkw at 14 psi (steel wheeled turbos but unsure what is actually done, ie bigger wheels)

When you buy the tomei cams new do they come with a degree card to dial in the cams properly? If so does anyone have it so i can do it, if not if it just trial and error?

If you mean the 9.15 lift PONCAMS....they are stated that a 0 intake and 0 exhaust is best,for stock motor.

You have after market turbo's so -2 or -3 on intake and -4 to -6 on exhaust is the area I

would be experimenting on in the tune.

Good luck....A 5 to 6 hour tune is required to get them spot on.

yeah but zero on the gears is not often zero on the cams, HKS especially need dialling in to get a "real" zero. some supra ones i used on this car a few years back were ~4 degrees out.

yea and because the motor is rebuilt with a thicker head gasket, along witht he deck may or may not have been decked can also change where true 0 is, i threw it on the dyno and got some good gains and got the mixtures where they needed to be, i think the exhaust cam could still be holding in too much exhaust gasses (or the exhaust was too restrictive i cant rember if i still had the minature cat converter in it) as it didnt want to take much ignition timing.

What timing can you put into these 26s? I was suprised as mine seems to be decompressed (flat 125 psi across all 6) and didnt like alot of timing.

Nah i dont mean the wheel, i mean at what crank angle should the inlet/exhaust be opening the valve 20 thou, or how ever they want to rate it as.

On some wade cam specs i got here it says when they are open 50 thou so you can get a decent starting point, then go from there.

When you install cams...you need to put them in at 0 degree..I think they call it drop centre.

There is lots of talk about this on the Forum...do a search.

You then dial the cam gears to adjust the cams.

Am I reading you guys right here.

More than likely the Supra cams or cam gears were installed incorrectly....it is easy to make a mistake .

    • Jack the back of the car up, pull that wheel off, pull that sensor out, and put a bore scope into the hole to inspect the outer casing, see if anything looks damaged before you pull the whole thing apart.
    • Ergh... So I pulled the speed sensor out again and the tip was shiny so I think it's rubbing the bearing. The bearing contains the magnets for the speed sensor so I think when the first sensor broke it damaged the magnet ring on the bearing.  This is just a Google image, but there is a hole going to the bearing. So when the tip broke off the old sensor I'm guessing it fouled the bearing... As the magnet is only protected by a plastic cover it would be easy to damage it. So I guess I'm doing a bearing again.   
    • My thinking is that if the O2 sensor is shot then your entire above described experience is pure placebo.
    • Here is the mess that I made. That filler there was successful in filling dents in that area. But in the middle area. I can feel dents. And I've gone ocer it multiple times with filler. And the filler is no longer there because i accidently sanded it away. I've chased my tail on this job but this is something else lol. So I'm gonna attempt filler one more time and if it doesn't work I'll just high fill primer the door and see where the issues are because guidecoat is of no use atm.
    • Ok, so I think I sort of figured out where I went wrong. So I definitely overthinked it, and I over sanded, which is probably a large part of the problem. to fix it, I ended up tapping some spots that were likely to be high, made them low, filled them in, and I tackled small sections at a time, and it feels a lot better.    I think what confused me as well is you have the bare metal, and some spots darker and some are lighter, and when I run my finger across it, it' would feel like it's a low spot, but I think it's just a transition in different texture from metal to body filler.    When your finger's sliding on the body filler, and crosses over to the bare metal, going back and forth, it feels like it's a low spot. So I kept putting filler there and sanding, but I think it was just a transition in texture, nothing to do with the low or high spot. But the panel's feels a lot better, and I'm just going to end up priming it, and then I'll block it after with guide coat.   Ended up wasting just about all of my filler on this damn door lol
