When I park my R34 face up on my driveway at home (steep, but not too bad - see picture) it misses a beat every few seconds.

I hooked up a fuel mixture display kit from Jaycar and you can see when it misses it goes Lean then back to normal and the pattern continues..

I'm just wondering whether there's something wrong with my car or whether it's a design fault over the whole line of 34's (or atleast Series 1)

The car runs perfect in every other situation except this one..

does it only do it on your driveway or have you ever seen it do it on a flat road? Have you mucked around with the timing at all? Whens the last time you checked your plugs? Dirty plugs or plugs that have been gapped too close can cause what you are mentioning but the driveway shouldnt really effect that. My bros r33 does a simular thing at idle but it will do it on a flat surface, but i think that has something to do with the timing he has smashed into it.

When it happens is your car low on fuel?

The pump is towards the front of the fuel tank!

yeah but on that driveway it wouldnt make that much of a difference, if he was on the fuel light for 100km then it started to it then maybe

i could be wrong but i dont think the fuel pump is at the front on the r34s, i only say this because i have a really steep downward sloping driveway and once i was really low on fuel and i couldnt get it started on the slope, i had to roll down to the bottom where it was flat and then it came to life.

what fuel pump do you have? if its stock how many km on the car? whens the last time the fuel filter was changed?

The stock fuel pump..car has around 35,000km & fuel filter only changed 2,000km ago.

My Missus' driveway is ridiculously steep & my car starts normally as if it were on a flat surface

Mine's a series 1 aswell. Your car just might be a sped afterall :sorcerer: :glare:

Beh! ^ :glare:

When it comes time to change my pod filter I'm gonna try putting my standard airbox back in because I actually can't remember the car doing it with it standard..we'll see how that goes I suppose.

sort of off topic but my turbo sss does the same on my driveway and its on a hill. i was told it could be coz my pump is to the front of the tank and apprently fuel pumps need constant pressure in the lines and its missing coz its getting some air in the line? something like that.... mine doesnt seem to do it when ive just filled up but does when its either half or almost empty. also been told could be my quad throttle bodies not shutting completely dunno mite help..

Tried putting my standard airbox back in but of course that didn't change anything - I just hoped it would for some reason.

I've been told it could be something to do with a "roll over" sensor? Dunno if the 34's have them or not..haven't been able to find any info..

    • Hello!  i just finished manual swaping my r34 skyline with a r33 rb20de box(RB71C)box  When the car is running it squeaks crazy loud and it was smoking from the gearbox area. The gearbox is fine it was tested. The clutch slave cylinder seems like it doesn't fully releases the clutch. I want to ask if this noise is from the throw out bearing or could it be the clutch assembly or disk att.xFliq87Gzw6kImKBVqDebXkj0fBqymk0JaYeP3_3SlM.mp4
    • A few small updates since the previous post and lessons. I decided to do a little interior light upgrade on the 110. I quite like the iilumo items, even if they're a bit of a premium over other brands. You'll also note the Stedi Fogs, that will go into the S15 fog lights as I needed to match the bulbs since I got the new ones earlier. I hope they fit as the body is quite a bit longer than your normal bulb.  Annoyingly, I managed to trip the fuse, which normally wouldn't be an issue until I located the fuse. I can't say I've ever come across this. I had lucked out that someone nearby had a spare, but oddly enough Toyota dealerships seem to keep this in stock. I ordered some to keep in my stash and as luck would have it, someone else nearby tripped the same fuse so I passed on the favour.  I also did a little service on the 110 ahead of some additional work coming up. It's been annoying that Goleby's stopped carrying this particular HKS filter for the 110, so now I need to keep them on order from Japan. I also took the opportunity to install a bash plate and number plate riser. The plate riser is such a cheap but nice fix to help really tidy up the car. I'm tempted to now also replace my headlights, on this car. Both items were from Project Aero.    I also needed to replace the rear tyres on the 110, and after trying to get it aligned learnt that I need to replace some bushes in the front end, so that's next.  Closing out this update with a nicer picture as always!
